There he saw the spring
that was located very near the city,
and he saw the armed knight
on a mighty, strong horse.
Never in all the countryside
had he seen one so beautiful.
And this you should know, that his shield
appeared to be made of tanned hide,
but so strong and beautifully tooled,
that it would be hard to describe it;
for it is not easy to describe
his armor, which was so very elegant,
just as the story affirms it was.
There wasn't a bit of white:
his mighty lance, large and well-shaped,
was brighter red than any blood,
with very sharp iron at its tip;
the sword, polished and sharp,
was of a blazing red color;
he was firmly fixed in his stirrups
