She was the youngest of three daughters born to a Korean-Canadian father and Italian-Canadian mother. Her life was pretty normal for the most part, until she was about 8. That year, teachers started noticing how emotional she really was, and taught her that she couldn’t show emotions or be unhappy. They told her that if she was emotional no one would like her. This caused Ainsley to develop an anxiety disorder and constantly worry about what others thought of her, and it caused her to hide her emotions and keep them balled up. She was able to change schools, since her parents believed the academic system wasn’t very good, but they still didn’t believe her when she told them she had an anxiety disorder. As Ainsley became a tween, her true talents that had been beaten down by her previous school finally were out for all to see. She turned out to be a talented writer and singer. Ainsley began to come into who she truly was, and she made many friends. By the time Ainsley was 16, her older sisters had left the house. Her sister Anna was married with a son, and her other sister Amy was engaged. She and her parents began to talk about having her study abroad. Ainsley wanted to go to Korea, where she’d stay near her grandmother. Her parents and grandmother agreed to this, and Ainsley packed her bags and moved to an apartment only a few blocks away from her grandmother’s house in Korea. When she arrived, she befriended another Canadian named Mark who lived a few floors below her in the apartment. The friendship soon grew into a secret mutual attraction.

Even though he has a cute face and is adorable, he acts very mature and cares for those younger than him, like an older brother. He is shy around most girls, except for Ainsley. He feels like he can truly be himself around her. Sometimes he can be very stubborn and will do something even if he is advised not to. He also has trouble showing his emotions sometimes, but he is usually honest and tells people when he has a problem.

However, they are shy around each other, and Ainsley isn’t certain the relationship will last, or if it can even be considered a romantic relationship. By the end, however, the relationship has grown, Ainsley feels more confident around Mark than ever, and can comfortably call herself his girlfriend. They have an serious and exclusive relationship now.

In the middle, Ainsley confesses to him, and he is overjoyed. Towards the end, Mark gives Ainsley a promise ring to symbolize that he is committed to her and only her, and that he will stay with her forever and maybe they will marry in the future. Ainsley accepts the ring and their relationship officially becomes serious.
