- [13:45:23] Some time had passed after his adventure with Mallroth in the Stinnox Cavern. The pain was mostly gone, although the damage from burned out mana circuits still persisted. It could be challenging to pull off Rifting properly once more with part of his power gone, but he had to try. There was no perfection to it yet, despite the fact he already mastered cognitive technique - now he wished to master the mixed casting technique in order to be efficient at it.
- Upon arrival, he took a seat down among the field of flowers and grass; the day was hot and warm, and the gentle breeze that travelled across the hill of Wychwood forest was all but disturbing; in fact, it was soothing, helping whoever to achieve the peace with their mind much easier than it would otherwise be in a noisy or crowded area, for obvious reasons.
- A sigh escaped his lips. Preparing himself for yet another session, he closed his eyes after taking a seat; his red mantle sprawled upon the ground, decorating the look of field among flowers of familiar color in a sense.
- Calling, Concurrence and Occurence...
- He wished to take it slow this time. Meditating and focusing upon the task in peace, a mutter escaped his lips as a self-note during the lesson; his eyes stayed closed.
- 'Stretch out...'
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [13:57:20] Escapism is what the Neries sought for a change, to push away from the cities and seek nature, places of which contained less people, less Newts. Sure, the Yokai and wildlife of a violent nature would threaten her but the lack of distinct mana that clung to her form was also a blessing in some regards -- a sort of camouflage from those who sought out mana to munch upon.
- "..."
- Zoira believed it was a bad idea to return to the Wychwood, but it was truly a marvelous place, so far away from all the death and decay present in all cities at the time, away from the abhorrent murder and theft that was rampant in either Loranthis or Nostvale.
- It was just free, miles upon miles of woodland and within this woodland? It'd be the first time that Zoira encountered Saulot, someone which, was of course a stranger therefore a mystery to the girl.
- Steady as she went, footing crunching into leaves, snapping the occassional twig, all of which drew attention to her. Yet as she crept ever closer, silver eyes darting around, Saulot came into view along with his practice of some sort? It was unknown to this one, so to the best of her ability, she tried to remain silent, tried to play the role of observer before making a move.
- Before announcing her presence should he be unaware by now.
- (Zoira)
- [14:05:00] It was all about concentration when the question would include forging Rifts. And indeed, it demanded vast amounts of mana as well - a difficult process, during which the magi is forced to draw mana from their circuits with sheer willpower, which made such technique all more challenging. But Saulot was a formidable, experienced magi, and to top it off he also had experience with forging the Rifts before. He could do it.
- The silence.
- There was only a single stranger behind Saulot, one that he was not aware of yet, and absolutely nobody else among the blooming forest. A pleasant smell of flowers was in the air, the union of wings among butterflies was razing the air, and distant chirps of birds was occasionally heard. Now, isn't that just an amazing place, truly?
- 'Imagine the thousand waves of a vast ocean, all falling still in silence at once...'
- Brief mutter escaped his lips. The mana was channeled through his consciousness, the magi's psyche was powerful enough to maintain such, and he began visualizing it infront of himself.
- The Rift sparked, and the Lifestream was gaped for such intervention. Normally it'd scream, but just as the murderer hushes it's victim when the deed is done, and so did Saulot muffled the echoes of wounded Lifestream - his magic was precise, detailed, elegant.
- 'Imagine the sand of a desert, calm and smooth, then dusted away by the wind...'
- If Zoira had been paying attention, or her interest would ever make her peek just a bit further, she'd see the light - Rift being made and changing it's pictures accordingly, new destinations set at Saulot's command.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [14:12:41] Zoira was a curious creature, the visions which she had witnessed within her dreams instructed a creative mindset and a curious one; to go out and wander, to find one's purpose, to figure out what she was supposed to do, what she was supposed to create -- right here? She was witnessing a man create a hole, a tear in reality with the pictures present within the tear, flashing in and out of different locales...?
- What was it this man was trying to achieve and what was with those mutterings? They seemed to correspond to what was seen in the tear; could it be this man had figured out how to create new worlds or was he merely showcasing a preview of those already present -- Zoira's mind wasn't able to entirely comprehend what she could see at this moment.
- Maybe she needed a closer look?
- A quick and silent approach was made, the Neries' feet motioning her over to a nearby tree which was closer to the Rift which Saulot was trying to form and stablise -- this Neries had yet to know what a Rift was however.
- Yet as she came closer, the sensations rolling out of the rift felt awful, as if it was an act most vile against the lifestream... But why would a simple act such as this cause such a dreadful feeling to occur? It wasn't quite like Occultism but it was mighty familiar.
- What is this one doing?
- (Zoira)
- [14:13:32] Marchosias: [Oh my]
- [14:22:56] The Rifts were slowly changing the pictures, but now it was the time to change their shape and size instead. A brief inhale had been heard coming from Saulot, and his back straightened; those eyes of his were still closed, much akin to remaining in a deep trance, but deceptively vulnerable. Magi's senses were sharp - he felt /something/ with the sheer power of his senses, of his mind, but decided to not distract himself. After all, it was not hostile, was it?
- 'Now, stretch out... feel the land around you...'
- The Rift changed it's shape, the Lifestream contorted and bent to magi's will. The distance was utterly destroyed - in fact, there was no distance at all due to how reality laws were downright broken in such act, which is why Lifestream resisted so much. This magi right here was defying how the world functions, making it work according to his whim.
- 'Strip away the obstacles... see the souls and minds of people that fill those corridors, the Lifestream itself... with more thoughts and dreams that can fill entire of Valmasia...'
- Ah, so much passion in Lifestream as it is already. Perhaps Rift magic was indeed a Depraved Art, but at least Saulot was quiet and subtle about it; the plants in his presence did not wither, the bloom did not stop, and the damage was as minimal as it was possible at all - in fact, this portion of Lifestream would easily repair itself after.
- 'Brush off any earthly limitations and touch the sky...'
- What is this?
- The Rift had actually been showing the pictures from the sky... a keen eye could see cities such as Nostvale, even New Alteros distantly, the Cinderfall...
- People weren't even visible at this point of height. Barely anything was, truth to be told.
- Oh, but wasn't it just challenging to uphold such Rift? It certainly was. A drop of sweat rolled down the side of Saulot's head, a clear testimony of the fact that it was putting much stress, much pressure upon magi's mind.
- A challenging technique would always require challenging efforts.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [14:28:54] The Neries continued to observe Saulot as he proceeded with his attempts at opening a Rift and sustaining it, yet the more she watched? The more interested she grew... Depravity was bad but it had it's uses... What if Saulot's actions here had merit despite the damage or not damage but pain he was causing to the Lifestream in an attempt to bend it to his will? To make it do his bidding for a short time.
- 'This one cannot believe what she sees.'
- A few thoughts cropped up in the head of Zoira, as her gray-skinned hands clutched tightly onto the bark of the tree that she resided behind for the time being. Her nails dug in, her palms grew sweaty and her eyes went wide; a bit of stress due to what she saw.
- The pictures that were shown within the rift were of that of cities that Zoira had been within, to see such things only made the girl assume that Saulot was trying to cook up some sort of all-seeing eye kind of spell, the same sort of power that her deity had, albeit in a minor variation.
- That was far from the truth however, in reality he was trying to create a rift, not some sort of viewing panel in the shape of a tear within the present reality.
- ...But the last image? Cinderfall? Was that the name of it? Zoira obviously didn't know it by name but the appearance of the city was unusual, it grabbed her interest, so much so that the child spoke out aloud, unable to hold her tongue any longer.
- "This one wonders what is last picture.", she'd ask with a mumble, barely audible but given the ambience? Saulot would hear. As or her question? It of course referred to the appearance of Cinderfall, the glimpse of it within the Rift that Saulot was creating.
- (Zoira)
- [14:28:54] Zoira: (woops.)
- [14:29:45] Saulot Vykos: (ok thats a bit tiny, reading it)
- [14:38:17] The training session was going smooth and steady; although the Lifestream was pained, it would certainly repair itself in short time. Gladly, as much as Saulot was studying Depraved Arts, he was humble and thoughtful of what he's doing. In fact, the young magi had his own reasons to study it, and rather far respectable reasons.
- But the voice that razed the air behind him? Most curious what exactly it was...
- Saulot's eyes opened to gaze upon his creation, and he saw the cities from a bird's view due to potential Rifts being forged from above. Quite obviously, such Rift had absolutely no use other than observation, due to sheer fact that it would evidently lead one to falling from big height, obviously.
- "That is Cinderfall."
- He answered to her rather casually.
- Saulot's eyes were focused upon the Rift forging again. Shaping it to a different size, he was forging the Rift to be able to fit two instead, a much challenging form of it especially for his experience; but he was taking it slow, unlike the previous time which caused his mana circuits to burn out - a painful experience that he'd rather never repeat.
- But from the looks of it, Saulot was growing weary from upholding the Rift for that long by now; his eyes parted, showing the signs of exhaustion kicking in with a heavy breath, much akin to an actual physical exercise. He was being drained of mana, lot of it was used to defy the Lifestream itself after all.
- "For how long have you been watching?" - he asked Zoira.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [14:42:33] Cucco: (ooooooo what has the chicken walked into
- [14:43:24] Saulot Vykos: (riftmancy and a nerie spectating)
- [14:43:24] Cucco: (mind if i join
- [14:43:24] Saulot Vykos: (i dont mind, your post goes after zoira's then)
- [14:43:24] Saulot Vykos: (deving it for app)
- [14:43:24] Cucco: (kk
- [14:44:16] Saulot Vykos: (this is the last session)
- [14:46:49] Zoira had been watching for a few good minutes now, though she didn't have an entirely solid grasp upon the flow of time unlike some, those moments could have been longer or shorter than her perception suggested to her. Nonetheless she'd give out an answer, a bit of gasped one at that; for she didn't expect a reply -- Saulot's mana could be felt oddly enough, the Neries could... Smell it? Taste it somehow?
- It gave off the sense of strain, of stress.
- "For a few moments now, this one has watched.", the voice of the Neries said in a quick, chirpy fashion, only to allow her eyes to gleam with a sense of fascination... So that was Cinderfall? Zoira had never been to that place before, she does not know where it resided within the landmass that is Valmasia.
- "This one hasn't been to Cinderfall."
- A fact which was quickly spoken out.
- Yet as the Neries continued to linger, she found it within her best interests ot step out from aside the tree and take a few steps forward, as to get a closer look at the slowly enlarging rift that was formed by Saulot's efforts. Obviously it was being used for observation purposes but Zoira did not know that.
- "What are you doing? This one does not understand, how does one form pictures in the air like that?", so to that matter, she asked, she went forward with her question, wishing to know exactly what the man was doing -- an indepth explanation wasn't needed, just the layman's terms.
- (Zoira)
- [14:52:48] Th chicken would fly around the forest. It was best to keep moving and not stay in one place. It decided instead of wwaiting for one of those bstards to cluck it the creature would start pecking people. As it would glide through the forest it would hear noises. It would tilt its head and head near those voices of course. As it would come down and land it would look at the two indiviudals.
- "*Cluck*...Saulot what magic is that? *Cluck*" as he looked at the dark rift magic being produced. It felt powerful very powerful. It seemed to be a shift into a dark space. It would examine it and cluck even more. It body growing more energy as it examined the thing.
- It eyes would then land on the other person.
- " *Cluck* Who is this creature? *Cluck*" It would peck the ground and examine the new comer of the place. Was it a enemy or ally? It would wait for the creature to respond. Yet, eyes kept on the magical thing that Saulot had going. The gaze Saulot would know personally from the chicken. It wanted to learn.
- (Cucco)
- [15:02:11] Even while he was actively drained by the Riftmancy, there was a tangible sense of mana to him, the enriched circuits that he was possessive of. It had a sense of raw, unrefined power to it... one that Saulot was directing through the sheer willpower, bending it into Rift. Indeed, Saulot was quite a powerful one for his age, and even with the collected demeanor of his, there was the Magi that would daringly grasp every ounce of more power that was etching on his soul.
- "Those are not the pictures. It is effectively a portal, nothing short of nullifying the existance of distance itself."
- He briefly answered to Zoira and then refocused upon the Rift; his eyes had grown weary for upholding it during all those minutes, and with a heavy exhale yet another drop of sweat had rolled down the side of his head. It was stressful to hold such power, to shape it...
- ...But the feeling of holding the entire of Valmasia, and with more experience perhaps the entire of Eternia, was a rather addictive feeling, one that anyone would easily get used to. It was like holding the whole reality in your grasp, with cities and forests resting upon your fingertips, easily accessible at any time you'd ever want to go there. It was the power to cherish and praise, despite all of it's effects upon the Lifestream - but he never allowed his hubris to blind him, and remained subtle in his Arts. The pain was wrought, but ultimately there was no significant damage done.
- But it seems that Cucco arrived. Turning his head to him, he spoke:
- "That is Riftmancy, and she's an observer. Let her be."
- He affirmed the last note of his words just to make sure that Cucco would not attack her. Who knows what could be going on his mind these days?
- Though, on that note, Saulot slowly began to decrease the Rift, and ultimately close it. It was to no avail to keep it going, and thus let it drain his very essence in time - the practice session was over, and new experiences were met.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [15:11:34] Zoira was indeed naught other than a humble observer, someone that learned by watching mostly; the child was yet to figure out the world around her, she had yet to know her place in it, her purpose yet here? Here she was given another lead, to explore a place she had not yet stepped foot in... Cinderfall...
- Just how would she get there? Ah now that'd be fun, the journey was always fun.
- "This one is Zoira, wanderer.", a name and her 'title' was given to the Yokai in a quick manner, no sense of fear present within her words, for she had yet to deal with a violent or aggressive Yokai; she didn't really KNOW what they were, that's how naive and in the dark, this Neries was currently -- none of her visions spoke of Yokai... Yet.
- "Riftmancy? A portal? One could step into it and end up where one sees what's in the picture?"
- Another question was provided to the man infront of her, as he came to close the rift and thus save himself from fatigue or otherwise. It was a wise choice, for the Neries applied the same methods in her training sessions and such; practicing one's magic without end was a surefire way to burn out.
- And for a Neries like Zoira? There was more than just spellflinging to practice given her shallow leylines.
- "This one must explore this... Cinderfall."
- Returning to the topic of Cinderfall, Zoira expressed her desires to find it, infront of both Saulot of Cucco was intensity; she really wanted to commit to that goal, to reach the city she hadn't yet explored.
- (Zoira)
- [15:20:06] The creature would sit down and listen. It would find out alot. Though it wanted to learn riftmancy it would need the favor it asked Saulot a long time ago. One thing the creature hoped for this human was it didn't leave the creature in the dust about the promise. It would be very upset if the man had not fulfilled the agreement they last spoke of at the time.
- " *Cluck* Saulot when will you teach me how to read? *Cluck* I have been waiting quite patiently. *Cluck*" It would say in a most casual manner. Though it would still gaze and watch the portal close. The creature had plans and they were big ones. Now then for the other.
- The man knew the chicken well. He told the yokai not to peck the creature. It would tell Cucco its name. It would also hear the creature would want to to Cinderfall. Oh look another person to gain from.
- "*Cluck* I could fly you there. Yet, what would the one known as Zoira give to Cucco? I like to learn. *cluck*" It would want something dealing with food, power or knowledge. The yokai after was not one to give and not recieve it liked both ways.
- (Cucco)
- [15:26:56] Don Volay: <*Leans against tree*>
- [15:28:38] A sharp exhale flew out of his lips. It was stressful to, quite literally, bend reality itself to one's will, and it put much strain on him. Grasping upon his forehead, Saulot rubbed it lightly as expression of being tired and worn out due to lengthy training session about forging Rifts, but it seemed that Zoira had more questions. He could answer them, at least he still had energy remaining for that.
- "Indeed, that is how the portal works. The town of Cinderfall is located just next to the Trystle Caverns, in fact you must pass them in order to reach there - but I warn you, the city is highly populated at the moment. It's excessively noisy and in quite chaotic state right now."
- He cast his gaze upon Zoira, for a first time at last; and the moment he saw her, his brow was arched. She resembled an appearance of a Mermaid, to some extent... but was yet far different from it. The grey skin was odd, and overall appearance was surprising, at best.
- Ugh... he totally forgot the promise he gave to Cucco. There's been a /lot/ happening as of lately, and that request simply went unnoticed with the flow of time. Maybe he could re-direct Cucco somewhere? But unlikely... he was Yokai, after all, and many would simply attack him on sight as misunderstanding.
- "I'll get to it when I have time to."
- He gave no promises this time. Indeed, with just how much has been happening, he wasn't sure himself if he could devote time for such.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [15:32:54] Don Volay: [Does anyone mind if I get a rp in, directed at the kaor, just wanna get his attention.
- [15:32:54] Don Volay: [After zorie, of course
- [15:32:54] Don Volay: [Zoria*
- [15:34:36] Saulot Vykos: (i dont mind)
- [15:35:28] The Neries possessed nothing, nothing of value that is, to this Yokai? There'd be nothing to gain due to this, there was nothing Zoira could give to them to make it a fair trade so with that in mind? The wandering one simply cast her eyes upon Cucco before speaking.
- "This one has nothing of value, cannot make deal.", she'd say with a slight tremble to her voice there; knowing she had nothing was... Somewhat abhorrent in it's own right, well, she had clothes, the only set placed upon her person and her life but... Those weren't up for sale!
- So this Neries was going to have to make the journey herself, like it or not.
- "Near the big caves? This one has passed through it before, this one likes caves.", with her attention shifting over to Saulot, she'd begin to speak once more after a soft exhale of her own, air escaping her gob in a sluggish manner, "This one should perhaps depart now... This one unsure how long journey will take."
- Only to suggest that she might very well leave if not interrupted? Or if something else didn't grab her attention that is.
- As for this Neries' appearance, that which could be seen was certainly odd; she was Human yet not Human, the dark-gray skin being evidence as such and the clothes that she wore did well to conceal most of her scrawny body, and that childish face of hers. And whilst her face was covered by shadow cast by her hood? Those silver discs which were the girl's eyes dimly glimmered out, allowing people to at least see in which direction was she gazing in, mostly.
- "Ahh... Errr..."
- But wait, what was this? Another arrival? Wasn't... Wait... Wasn't that the man who attacked the Lich King's Apprentice? Zoira grew suspicious, a sense of worry loomed over her person; she wasn't in the mood for violence, not after what she witnessed beforehand, a year ago.
- (Zoira)
- [15:36:19] "Excuse me, I'd hate to break up the little-- gathering here." Don would pause for a moment as he noticed the extra bodies. Him a blind man, so he could only get a mental image of the blank figures around him-- outside of voices. Don focus on the giant figure-- him assuming it nothing past that of as kaor.
- "I just want to talk to your little friend here, little one on one, don't worry I'm not going to kill him. " Don tapping at his sheath to get a new image of his surrounding via echo location.
- "Whattyda say big man? Talk to a old man for a bit?"
- (Don Volay)
- [15:41:26] The yokai was not pleased at all with the Saulot. The man seem to had lied to the yokai. The look on the yokai's face showed he was not happy at all. It seemed the yokai trust in humans was starting to wither day by day. It would realize the earth yokai had to many points in its story now. Humans were only creatures who seem to only be used.
- "*Cluck*"
- The yokai would turn and look at the girl. She said she had nothing. But the yokai knew she had something he could use. Still he wait for the time to pass once to see her again. She be good to have around to learn from Cinderfall. Soon or later he would have to start making trips.
- Now it would then see a human approach looking at it. It had its hand on the sheathe. Saulot knew that if someone presented danger in any kind near Cucco it would cause a stir. Darkness being to blaze around the chicken.
- " *Cluck* What do you want? *Cluck* If you have nothing for me to gain from then leave me be human. *cluck*"
- (Cucco)
- [15:46:33] As much as Saulot could wish to fulfill his promise made for Cucco, he could not, for he was weary and tired after strenuous adventures and trainings within short time span; and it seemed that the scene was slowly getting dismissed, which meant that Saulot had not much of a reason to stay around here. Well, after all, his training was already done, wasn't it?
- "Farewell then, Zoira."
- And if not stopped, or addressed to, he'd simply leave the place by pacing down the hill towards the place that resembled presence of some stairs of sort. Surely, he was sure that Cucco would handle himself here, due to fact that it seems Cucco had ascended unto status of Kaor Lord by now, and that wasn't nothing.
- Adjusting his mantle once more, Saulot was heading out to his living place around the forest of Wychwood.
- (Saulot Vykos)
- [15:47:24] Saulot Vykos: Oh, and farewell Cucco, perhaps next time.
- [15:47:24] Saulot Vykos: (ill give time for everyone's turn to end in case someone stops me ic then dip)
- [15:49:07] Cucco: *Cluck*
- [15:53:23] Zoira didn't want any trouble, not at this moment in time, she wasn't yet prepared for it all, she needed to back off and go find this... Cinderfall and explore in and out, as to widen her knowledge of Valmasia and it's locations. If it wasn't for Saulot? Zoira wouldn't even be considering this right now at this very moment in time!
- Oooh, how exciting it were.
- "Goodbye.", as soon as Saulot began to leave, so would Zoira, the Neries opting to take a move to the east, rather than the south.
- As for Cucco and Don? Well, whatever those two were doing? Was of no concern to this Neries, she had other things to be getting on with, such as this journey she envisioned within her mind -- what sort of rewards would she garner in her dreams when she reached the place? What sort of visions would be unlocked by the Black Dreamer?
- Zoira could only imagine the possibilities! The outcomes!
- (Zoira)
- [15:54:14] "Oh believe me, I won't waste your time. I know how you kaors and yokai love to talk about imperfection and what not. I'm just here to band you kaor together a bit."
- Don soon realized the staff on the magi, or atleats Don could gather the figure that spoke before was holding something ont heir back, ususally a sword or weapon. Luckily, Don had his own weapon.
- "Now what I don't wanna do , is make this phsycial. And If I have to, then you're ganna have a big problem on your hands. "
- (Don Volay)
