  53. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.
  54. A race of non-corporeal, parasitic aliens who go from planet to planet looking for hosts have come to Earth and basically taken over the human race. It's believed that, once inside a body, all memories of the host human are gone. Some few free humans remain hidden from them, forming a resistance group. When an alien Seeker captures a girl named Melanie and puts a Wanderer in her body, she hopes to find out where the remaining humans are gathered, but Melanie, a strong fighter able to converse with the alien in her commandeered body, convinces the Wanderer to say nothing. Disappointed by the lack of progress (though suspecting an empathy for the human), the Seeker informs the Wanderer that she'll be removed and placed in a new host while she herself will enter Melanie. With human lives at risk, Melanie convinces Wanderer to run away and hide out with the humans, but finding them doesn't mean they'll allow an alien presence among them. Jared (Melanie's boyfriend) wants her dead, but Jeb (Melanie's uncle) wants to wait, and Ian, tasked with guarding her, finds himself siding with Jeb. As Ian begins to fall for Melanie, a strange love triangle develops, with Ian wanting Wanderer (inhabiting Melanie's body), Jared wanting Melanie (imprisoned inside her own body), and no one knowing any way to separate the two without killing both.
  55. Teen romantic dramas have taken over all of our favorite classic monsters. Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Zombies. Oh no! I hope they don&#39;t take aliens next! Oh wait... they just did. The Host is based off of the book by Stephanie Meyer and it&#39;s about the aftermath of an alien invasion in which the aliens take over the bodies of humans and use them as &quot;hosts.&quot; But the host&#39;s mind is still inside the body, fighting with the mind of the alien that&#39;s taken over. Pretty cool concept, right? Let&#39;s just throw in some middle school bulls**t romance, that&#39;ll make it better, right? Wrong... Now, I&#39;m not against romance at all; I&#39;m a sucker for The Time Traveler&#39;s Wife and Atonement, but those movies were actually done well and the romance is fitting. Putting a juvenile love triangle in the middle of an alien invasion story can only fit if you do it in an interesting way. Needless to say, this movie was not successful in that endeavor. The love story in this movie is so convoluted (there&#39;s actually a love rhombus. Not a triangle, a rhombus) that it&#39;s just not interesting. The dialogue, considering the situation that they&#39;re actually the aftermath of an alien invasion, isn&#39;t believable at all and the teen romance is just so out of place.<br/><br/>There&#39;s not really much else to say about this movie. The premise of it is actually really cool and interesting; there are so many possibilities with it. But, the execution of that wasn&#39;t good and then, on top of it all, there&#39;s a teen love story going on (of which isn&#39;t done well either). It&#39;s not worth seeing in theaters but maybe on DVD if you&#39;re desperate. 3 out of 10 Noodles.... I honestly feel that&#39;s it&#39;s worse than the Twilight movies.
  56. Seems every few years there comes a movie where the human body is taken over by an unwanted host. That is the premise of this movie. However there is one body, the one that houses Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), and taken over by Wanda (wonderer) whose spirit fights. There are many scenes when these two have internal discussions. The battle begins with the host who are marked with lighted eyes after this sperm like light invades the body and the humans who are not affected. These renegade humans are in hiding from this invading force. Lots of staring scenes and the movie does move in certain parts at a snail pace. The premise then belongs is the spirit stronger to overcome the invaders wants and reconnect to those she has an emotional bond with.
  57. Watch closely and you might even spy a better film inside, straining to break free.
