But for you to assert that the Aeldari's struggles with Chaos that have gone on since before your race were even specks in the primordial pool don't matter, then you are sorely mistaken. Perhaps we may not be at war, but I will always feel the pains in ways you could not hope to comprehend. If you try and make that assertion again, I will change your life."

"Banshee, miss, I completely and entirely understand, I've been through a lot to and I'm not ignorant to things like I pretend to be just to strike up a conversation. However, look at where you are. Think of the people around you. Whatever's happened isn't going on here, you can't stay back in your world mentally if your body isn't there, all you'll do is hurt yourself. You're going to find a lot of people here that have already adapted, forgiven and forgot what's happened because they don't have to deal with it anymore, it's not happening. You can feel all the pain you want, we all do, we all have shit that hurts deep inside still, but don't pick a fight with a Chaos Marine because of what happened, he might not have been there for years, forgiven all of your kind, understood his mistakes and wish to atone and become a better person for whatever's he's done, because he's now in a world with people who can teach him that. You should do the same; learn to accept what's around you, and just forgive and forget."

She points to the gem installed into her aspect armor above the breastplate, near the collar.
"It's a soul gem, to describe it. If I /didn't/ have it, then when I die my soul would be devoured by the God of Excess to fuel their machinations. Every time I engage in a sensation, whether it be grief, happiness, pleasure or pain, I risk drifting closer to their grasp as well. You may say nothing from home is here, but you'd be wrong. I'm feeling the pull every single day."

"They did. Did. So here's something I want you to think about, whenever you feel like it. If I shot an enemy soldier twenty thousand miles away from the war, am I helping? And I mean, point blank you are there with him, he has nothing to do with that war, but is still on the enemy side. That Chaos Marine? Whatever the fuck he wants to do, won't matter, it does nothing. He could murder everyone here easy, or even just you for being his enemy, but he won't, because why should he? You shouldn't go picking fights with your old bullies, no matter how much it hurts, no matter what they've done to you, cause it won't do anything but keep reminding you of what happened, and you won't grow out of it.

You really want that to be the rest of your life, however long; hating something? You don't want to die saying 'Fuck it,' and not giving a damn? You never want to think about what happens when the war is over? About kids? Making a new population elsewhere? Hell, know what? Here's a fun fact."

"But I do know. Here's how i know; you don't. You have no idea where you're from, what's going to happen in your universe because how do you know which one you're from? Your planet, your war, your family, your you? One on an infinite amount in the multiverse that became one of the lucky ones to have come here and been free. You have zero idea what's going to happen in your home world, but guesses, and what might have happened in another world almost identical to your own. For all you know, your planet is on the edge of a breakthrough that could have been used to wipe out the entire galaxy of enemies and would have saved your people for all eternity, or you find a way to peacefully resolve it, one you can't think of, and know what? It does happen, infinitely, in an infinite number of universes. But, you don't know if it does, and instead of taking it in stride and accepting that no matter what happens, it's all already happened, you wanna try bending it, twisting it without understanding the consequences.

Killing that Chaos Marine, just the one, for all you know could disrupt what happens in this timeline right now. What if you get to go home in the near future, but killing him closes off that chance and you'd have never known? Or what if that kills sets off his family to attack your home, and you create another infinite number of worlds in which you go extinct, for real?"
