Libre Law

Greetings everyone, your new Security Commander Alma Libre speaking-but you can just call me Big Alma for short. I've returned from my culinary escapades across the universe yearning for DHARMA's mission-but not quite for the foul attention spans or emotionally charged whining of those within it. It may be of surprise to many of you but we are here to do more than a job-an actual mission which puts everything at risk and the very gravity of the situation was lost on even me for a time but do not fret I've come to free you of yourselves and the natural mortal deficiency. Allow me to lay out a few key points and changes for the better:

Pentacle affairs are not Security affairs: They just make bad calls. They don't do the arrests, and certainly, every time I've come to them someone who shouldn't be released HAS been released or worse-they don't seem to care for the law like they should and find it a chore. So from now on, the Pentacle will not be allowed in our affairs and from doing the following:

*No more Pentacle duels. Security will handle these requests exclusively through leadership. Those who come forward claiming their duel was honored by the Pentacle are charged as criminals.

*No more Pentacle waives. Only our leadership will be allowed to handle justice by these means and it will be done so not through undeveloped emotions or because of someone's ties.

*Pentacles will be under the law. If a Pentacle has a problem with these laws or tries to enact their power willingly, they will be charged as a danger to the mission and brought in as a criminal.

Now that we've had a nice talk about the Pentacles, let us speak on behalf of those among the more common man. While it strikes me with great pain to know how many of you feel about the mission, security or even just having basic moral fiber in general-we have a job to do far more important than a few hooligan renegades and emotionally saturated twinks. From now on, the law will look towards a new sort of compromise since slaps on the wrists are not seen as effective by both civilians, security and the convicts alike.

The Removed Wrist Act: From now on, the use of deadly force against an officer making an arrest will be reactive and can be met with respective force. Should you be aiming to harm them, bring them down for their civic duty and do not comply, we will up the ante and leave you further incapable of harm to the colony for being a psychopath.

The Complicity Act: This is for of you trying to help out a friend evade the law or thinking it wise to maim someone trying to bring them in-to help cut down on the number of organized criminal groups, those of you who help a criminal will be tried as terrorists-as in you will be sent off the colony for your actions to a cell off-planet. Harsh? Perhaps but we are not here to babysit those who would be swayed to take law into their own hands on the spur of the moment. If the person carries lethal means to help a friend, they may be killed.

The Bounty Act: I realize some of you may desire the ability to fight as vigilantes, to take the fight to others as a means to bring them in and not feeling the criminal system is capable of doing it in the right manner. With permission from the leadership in security, you may opt to publically charge yourselves as a unit and hunt down said individuals. However, this will come with some drawbacks:
*If captured or harmed, security will not mark it as a charge against the target.
*We will not negotiate on your behalf for your failings and inability to allow security to handle it.
*You will have to come to a compromise of intent with the Leadership in question and are ONLY honored to do that. Anything did higher than is listed for your group will be treated as a crime for ALL involved.

Security Duels: We will still honor duels, but because the Pentacle doesn't desire to regulate these properly or alert security it will be only from our leadership for you to be approved. All allowable duels will be publically displayed and have an officer present (Does not have to be the Leader who allowed it).

Finally, the following will be regarding our security unit. Given how terrible many of them were oftentimes causing more harm than good we have some guidelines to be followed and improvements to be made.

Publicly Displayed Officership: If you sign for duty, you are publically standing as a figure for people to come to. You will be publicly displayed on our board of officers in order to ensure people know who they can go to for help and to prevent the misuse of a badge system.

Failure of Report: If you do not report and leave a prisoner to rot, you will be tried for the number of days the person was improperly tried and a mark will be put on your record. Failing to put someone in for the correct duration will not be something we punish you for (such as too short of a sentence), but it will be noted against you.

Misuse of Power: Those found using force that is not warranted or attempting to spark a party into doing a crime shall be treated as a terrorist. You will be investigated, removed and charged based on the severity of the crime. We are not here to fan flames but to douse them out. Know your place or I will personally see to your trial.

Finally, I just want to cook beans. Stop being terrible people and do your job so I can do mine peacefully.
