- Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories Definitive Edition - Mod Information
- ---------
- Synopsis:
- ---------
- This mod of Forbidden Memories aims to change several things about the base game that many players feel SHOULD'VE existed in the normal version. This mod is not meant to be a new Forbidden Memories experience. Instead, the purpose is to create a mod that is the definitive way to play Forbidden Memories casually. The same game, but with small changes to match player expectations. You won't need a card droplist to properly play and beat this mod. If you see a card played against you, you can win that card right there. No more wondering if an equip works on a card or not. If you think it does, chances are it does, and if you think it doesn't, odds are you're right. This mod aims to be exactly what you THOUGHT the original Forbidden Memories would be when you played through it the first time.

- More Details
- ------------
- Some things that I plan on changing include:
- - Equips: Some equips simply do not work on cards that almost everyone agrees they SHOULD work on (such as Beast Fangs on Meteor B. Dragon). Similarly, some equips DO work on cards that many think they should NOT work on (such as Laser Cannon Armor, an insect equip, working on Baby Dragon). This mod will aim to change all of this to make more sense.
- - Enemy Decks: Some enemies you duel in Forbidden Memories play cards that make little to no sense for them to even have in their deck at all (such as Pegasus having Meteor B. Dragon in his deck). This will be changed, and enemy decks will be better suited to not only where in the game the enemy appears (difficulty-wise), but also better suited to who they are (High Mage Martis has Dark Magician. No.)
- - Enemy Drops: When playing this game, many players first tried applying logic when trying to figure out where to win certain cards. They quickly realized there was very little logic to be found, and were forced to locate a droplist. This mod aims to change that. The cards you win from duelists in this mod will make more sense given who the duelist is and what cards they have in their deck. If an enemy plays a card AGAINST you, you should have a chance to win that card if you beat them. In this mod, you will. The goal is to be able to play the game without looking at a droplist.
- - Unobtainables: In the original game, there are 33 cards you simply cannot make appear in your Library, even with fusion, ritual summons, and using rituals. This is because the game was created with a Japanese addon to the PS1 called the Pocketstation in mind. This device was planned to be the method used to acquire those 33 cards. In this mod, all cards will be obtainable, one way or another.
- - Fusions: While the fusion system in Forbidden Memories is actually quite good and logical, there are still a few things that do not work to the players expectations (such as Flame Cerebus, a pyro type, not fusing to make Crimson Sunbird, and the Skull Knight fusion many people know not working). This mod will change this, while keeping most fusions as they are.
- - Starchips: Some cards cost 999,999 starchips in Forbidden Memories, making them practically impossible to purchase. This mod will change that, and give these cards a cost that is practically doable (though many of them would still require obscene amounts of farming to get enough starchips to purchase) while still making the cost reflect their power.
- - Uncensored Card Art: Many people outside of Japan do not even know this, but some of the card art in Forbidden Memories was censored in the non-Japanese releases of the game. This mod will use the uncensored versions of all cards.
- As I am writing this Pastebin, I have little to no experience modifying Forbidden Memories. I really have no idea what I am getting myself into by setting out to do this. But, it seems like a fun project, so I am going to do my best to create this mod.
- I do not want this mod to feel like a completely different game. I want it to retain as much of the original Forbidden Memories as possible, while making small changes to make the experience more of what everyone expected when they first played the game. I want this mod to be the definitive, best way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories casually. And I will do my best to make that happen.
