  5. The To seek enlistment into the Army or Army Reserve you must be 17, and you must join before your 35th Birthday. You need to be a U.S. Citizen, or have your I-551 card or G-845. To join the U.S. "Army Strong" Family, you must meet education requirements in order to apply, applicants must be a High School Junior (for the Army Reserve), High School Senior or graduate, have a GED (limited by locations) or 15 credit hours from an accredited university or community college (with classes at or above the 100 level or if below the 100 level they must be going towards a degree producing program). You must pass the enlistment written test and enlistment physical examination; married applicants cannot have more than 2 dependents under the age of 18 without requiring a waiver. You cannot be undergoing or have any pending civil actions, as some law violations may be disqualifying. Also you must meet height and weight standards.

  7. 11B- Those who want to serve must first take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
