  1. “Ok, what was it?” A young man sat on his couch, tapping his chin as he looked at the computer in his lap. “Up, up... left... R? … No, that wasn't it.” Frowning at himself, he moved a lock of his strawberry blonde hair out of his face to better see his computer screen. Brown eyes glaring intensely at the title screen of his game, he huffed. “I knew this years ago, what was it? Up, up... down, down...” Humming in thought for a moment more, he groaned and flopped onto his back, staring at the ceiling. Damn video game protagonists. All someone had to do was punch in a couple buttons and their lives could just be made better. He could go for some of that. Someone to just say the right words, and suddenly his life would be ten times more interesting. No more dead end, minimum wage job, only just paying rent, and only having access to free to play or pirated games. He scoffed at himself as he thought. Sure, he could say that, but when it came to actually doing anything...
  2. He suddenly sat up right, tapping away at his keyboard. “Got it! Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, start!” The second he finished a searing heat overcame his entire body, a bright light engulfing everything around him. What was happening? What was this energy around him? He suddenly felt lifted off his couch and into the air, his vision nothing more than a blur of colors and bright lights, a white hot energy running through his whole body. He shut his eyes, trying to block out whatever was happening in the hopes it would just go away. Just stop. He got his wish to some degree. The pain subsided, the colors stopped spinning and flashing right in his face, and he felt as though he were on solid ground, for a moment anyway. He didn't feel solid ground for long, passing out cold then and there. Just as he did, he thought he heard some kind of sound... a yelp? A gasp? Something like that. Whatever it was, it'd have to wait. He couldn't keep his eyes open. Finally, blackness.

  6. “'Scuse me sir! Pardon me! On your left, sorry, ah!” An excited young unicorn zipped left and right through the bustling crowds of the city she lived in, a smile on her face and a new book in her saddle bag. After a few minutes of bobbing, weaving, and crashing, she soon found herself inside and racing up the stairs of the building she lived in. The place was quiet to say the least, mostly because she was the only one still living in the old place. Still it made it all the easier to get up to her room.
  7. Barging in, she quickly set her bag down and flopped onto the mattress on the floor, smiling as she quickly retrieved her new book. The little unicorn's horn glowed a faint light as the book floated over towards her, settling down before her with the cover up. “The Twilight Compendium... Oh, I need to thank Mister Feather Tail again when I see him!” She said, settling down and flipping it open. A book all about magic, written by the Princess of Friendship herself! Truly a treat for the filly.
  8. All she really had anymore was her time at the library, her selection of her favorite books, and the magic she practiced. That and looking up to the princess. Apparently there was supposed to be some big event next week, the princess coming to her city for the opening of a whole new school for gifted unicorns. She'd see it if she could, but a little thing like her could never even got to school, let alone one opened personally by Princess Twilight. Shaking her head, she sighed and got into her reading, a bit of light coming from her horn to help her read.
  9. She'd do it. Tonight, she'd do her first spell without it backfiring. Well, technically she could levitate things, but that didn't count. That was baby stuff! She wanted to do a real spell. Maybe if she got good enough at that, she could go to one of those cool schools, maybe even meet the princess! The thought made her smile as she leafed through the pages, pausing at one spell in particular.
  10. “For temporary use only. Manifest your imagination into reality.” She read allowed, interested. So like, turning your thoughts into real things, even just for a short time? Now that sounded cool! It looked simple enough too, just needing to concentrate on one thing for a minimum of thirty seconds, pick a spot and bam! Instant... well, whatever you want! What did she want though?
  11. Frowning, she thought it over a moment before she looked up, the silence of the empty building deafening to her. She was more than aware of the empty building from time to time, occasionally reminded that she was all on her own... That's it, she had it. A friend.
  12. Smiling, she tried to think up features she'd want in a friend of her own before shaking her head and causing her long black and blue main to fall in front of her purple eyes. Blowing her hair out of her face, the bright blue unicorn decided to keep it simple. Just the concept of a friend. No details, she'd let the spell fill it out. Though, maybe someone like her. She was so small after all, she hardly needed much. What if this friend the spell came up with still needed food and stuff? She really only had enough for herself, so a friend bigger than her wouldn't be very helpful if it turned out they were hungry. She nodded, knowing exactly what to focus on. A small friend, that was it. Taking a breath and focusing on her own magic, she thought it over... and over... and over...
  13. At first, all she felt was a light breeze. Looking up, she saw her window open, sighing. Nothing. Walking over to shut the open window, she paused as no wind came from it. No, her hair was blowing in the opposite direction in fact. Pausing before turning around, she was surprised to see some kind of swirling light in front of the book where she'd been standing, whipping up the air around it. Was... was this it?! Did she do it, was it working?! Running over, she crouched down and looked intently at the little swirling light. It seemed to grow brighter and brighter, the wind growing stronger and stronger, before suddenly... pop! It stopped all at once, the noise and sudden brightness causing her to shut her eyes for a moment.
  14. Once it all settled, she opened her eyes again to look at where the light had been, letting out a gasp in surprised at what she saw. Letting out a gasp, she looked over... well, she wasn't really sure. It was small, no doubt about that. Downright tiny even! Couldn't be any bigger than the horn on her head! Was... was this her friend her spell had come up with? The idea had her excited, except... whatever it was, it wasn't moving. Bringing her hoof around, she noted she could probably completely cover the thing with it. She lightly poked it's side, shying back a couple inches when a small grumbling noise came from it in response. Was it angry?! Would it attack her?!
  15. She scooted forward again, large and curious purple eyes looking over the tiny being, she thought for a moment before clearing her throat. “H-Hello? Are... what... a-are you my friend?” She asked simply, unsure of what else to do? Getting no response, she sighed and dropped her head to the ground. Another dud of a spell to add to the ever growing list.
  16. Or at least she'd assumed so. It seemed with her sigh of defeat ruffling the thing's hair on it's head, it seemed to be stirring. Waking up! Excited all over again, she looked intently at the thing as it's eyes finally opened. She smiled about to speak before seeing the thing jolt into a standing position. Huh, that was weird, it stood on two legs... and ran on two legs... hey wait! Standing upright as she saw the little thing running in the opposite direction as her, she looked downright distressed. “H-Hold on a sec!” It only took a few steps to overtake her creation, stepping in front of it and looking down with a tilted head. “Don't run away!”
  17. “To hell with that!” The little thing shot back up at her, causing her to flinch. It took off in another direction, slipping between the wall and her mattress, just enough room for it to stand. Ergo, hardly enough room for her to reach after it.
  18. Frowning, she climbed onto her mattress, trying to find the strange little thing. Well, she knew it talked now anyway. That was something, right? Laying on her stomach, she frowned. It wasn't exactly her friend though. So still, another fail on her part.

  22. His heart raced, staring at the dirty wall in his face, his breath short. What the hell was that?! Whatever it was, it was huge, fast, and was way to close for comfort. It looked kind of horse like, maybe? Or was it cat like? He could hardly tell, but whatever it was, something that big could not be safe to be around. Ok, he just needed to figure out where he was, and how to get away from the thing.
  23. He felt the mattress behind him shift, presumably from the giant... thing, climbing onto it. Had it already forgotten about him maybe? Was it heading to sleep? Gulping and taking a chance, making sure his hiding spot was too small to be followed after, he peeked up to see. Laying on it's stomach, hair in front of it's friggin' huge eyes... if he was going to make an escape attempt, it'd be now. The monster wasn't paying attention, and his adrenaline was still pumping.
  24. Slipping out and into the open as quickly as he could, he looked around for a moment. What the hell was this place? It looked vaguely like a tiny apartment, only on a drastically larger scale. And dirty besides that. Broken down even. Not exactly much around either. A mattress - currently with a giant monster laying on it – was in one corner. Another corner had a small desk of sorts with a couple of books sat atop it. Aside from that, the only other thing around was a few baskets of what looked like giant apples. Not the lair you'd expect a giant monster to reside in, but that wasn't really his concern right now.
  25. Turning and spotting the giant open door, he was about to make a break for it when he noticed his laptop sitting beside a giant book on the floor. He wasn't even sure if the thing would work at this point, but it was still his, and potentially the only thing of comfort he'd have wherever he was. Ok, so he'd grab it, then go. Making his way over, glad he was apparently too small to make any noise in his foot steps, he picked up his property. Keeping his eyes on the thing as he made his way for the door, he hadn't noticed the nail head sticking out of the ground. Before he knew it he was toppling forward, the wind knocked out of him as his laptop clattered on the hard wood floor.
  26. “W-Wha-? Oh! Oh hold on!” Looking back, he saw the giant blue thing awake. He didn't even process it's words or the voice coming out, he just grabbed his laptop and tried to make a break for it. Just as he reached the door though, the world took on a blue-ish tint... and he was floating... higher... higher. Turning, he found the thing's giant face growing closer and closer. Oh no, had this thing somehow grabbed him?! W-With magic or something? As if trying to swim through the air, he made motions as it to escape, but to no avail. Before long he turned and found himself face to face with the giant thing, afraid for the worst when... “Why are you so scared?” Having had his eyes shut in preparation for some kind of punishment for trying to run, he looked up, confused.
  27. “W-What?” No punishment, no anger, nothing he was expecting from this giant thing. No, all he saw was confusion and sadness. His head beginning to clear, he was more properly processing what was going on around him. With his now up close look at it, he had to admit besides it's size, it hardly looked dangerous. From the voice, he had to guess it was female too. A little girl even. It took him another moment to find his voice, shaking his head as he tried to figure out how to approach the situation. “I-I'm, uh, sorry.” He said simply, an obvious shakiness to his voice. “I-It's just that you're uh... well, huge.”
  28. She tilted her head slightly, a small smile replacing her frown. “No I'm not, you're just really tiny.” She took the opportunity to get a better look at him as well it seemed, as he started to move involuntarily through the air. Left, right, upside down, every which way before he was floating upright and facing her again. “So what are you, anyway? You're not a pony, that's for sure.”
  29. He took a moment to regain his composure, his head spinning a bit from being turned this way and that. “Erm, pony? No, no I'm not a pony.” He seemed dumbfounded by the term. Pony? Like, tiny horses? “Is that what you are? Because we've got ponies where I come from, and they look nothing like you.” He said, trying to turn himself enough to see past her head. Light blue fur, purple eyes, a mane that looked more like a hairdo, and a horn like a unicorn? That was a pretty far shot from what he called a pony.
  30. “'Course I'm a pony, what else would I be?” She asked, giggling a bit. “I'm a unicorn.” Looking him over again, a thought seemed to occur to her. “And you haven't got a horn, or any wings, so you must be an earth... whatever it is you are?” She half guessed, half asked, looking expectantly for a response.
  31. He shook his head, not really sure what to do with this. A unicorn. He was being held captive by a giant colorful unicorn child. Sighing, he looked back up at her. “No, I'm not an earth anything or whatever. I'm called a human. Everyone looks like this for the most part, no horns or wings or anything. You haven't got something like me, wherever this is?” He asked. It stood to reason after all, if he had ponies where he was from, she might have some variant of human.
  32. She shook her head, climbing back up onto her mattress. “No, no hoomins.” Obviously having trouble with the foreign word, she placed him down on the mattress in front of her as she spoke. It was now he really got an idea of just how huge she was, or how tiny he was. No running away, no being held in the air, no looking from a few feet away. Sitting right in front of her, it almost worried him that she was apparently a child from what he gathered, given how gigantic she was. “Well, we've got monkeys, and they're kinda like you, I think. Really hairy though, and a lot bigger. And they have tails.” She leaned down, angling her head to look around him. “How come you don't have a tail?”
  33. Taking a step back as she leaned down towards him, he thought about the question for a moment. “Well, how come you do?”
  34. She opened her mouth to speak, ears perking up in thought. “Huh... I dunno.” All at once something seemed to cross her mind, a smile spreading over her face. Laying flat on her stomach, she set her head down to it was level with him just a few inches away. “So hey, what's your name? I'm Blue Ember.”
  35. The sudden mood shift caught him off guard. Again backing away a couple of inches, he carefully settled down into a sitting position. “Cole. My name's Cole.” Blue Ember. Well, he supposed a strange name had to come with the strange creatures in a strange world.
  36. “Cole?” She tilted her head, looking confused. “Like the rock? And it's not like, Black Coal, or Coal Dust or something? Just Cole?”
  37. “Yeah, just Cole.” So that was what all their names sounded like? Things like Blue Ember, or Coal Dust? Well, he guessed based on her reaction that he had sort of a strange name too. “Well, Blue Ember. Can I just call you Ember? It's less of a mouth full.”
  38. She nodded, smiling. “Oh, yeah that's fine. Ponies hardly ever go by their full names.” She assured him.
  39. “Ah, good. Anyway Ember, where am I? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this place isn't called Earth by any chance?” He asked, leaning back on his hands as he spoke. Even if it was Earth, he guessed it wouldn't be the Earth he knew. There'd have probably been news reports of giant colorful unicorns if that were the case.
  40. “Earth? I've never heard of that.” She shook her head simply. “You're in Manehattan right now. We're about two blocks away from the library, and even closer to this grocery store with a super nice owner who let's me have a new bushel of apples every week.” She said, starting to ramble a bit it seemed. “There's also a park nearby with a lake in the middle, and from there you can see-”
  41. “Hold on, hold on.” He held his hands up to her, cutting her off. “Ember, that's all nice, but I meant like the world. Earth isn't my city or anything, it's the planet I live on.” He explained.
  42. “Oh! Sorry.” She smiled sheepishly, settling back down. “Equestria. We're in Equestria. Is that something you've heard of maybe?” She asked him. She was only now realizing that she was fairly curious about this little hoomin.
  43. “No, never heard of that either.” He looked down for a moment before sighing, laying on his back. His situation was really starting to sink in now. Taken to some kind of mysterious world, with literally no beings like himself, and way too small. “... You wouldn't have any idea how I got here, right?” He asked up to her, lifting his head.
  44. She paused a moment, looking away from him and instead at the mattress. After seeing his reaction, it was obvious this wasn't exactly where he wanted to be. At all, actually. So, would he be mad at her for bringing him here? She'd just gotten him to stop being afraid of her, now she'd have to deal with him angry? “N-No, you just kind of appeared. I don't really know how.” She said, offering a sheepish smile. Well, he didn't have to know it was her, right?
  45. He sighed, nodding and leaning his head back again. “Great. So then, I'm stuck here.” He said simply.
  46. She looked him over for a moment before smiling. “Well, it can't be that bad right? Like, uh...” Looking around, she lifted over a couple of apples, setting one down by him. “Look how big the food is for you! You'll never be hungry!” She said, taking a bite out of her own apple.
  47. He sat upright, looking at the huge apple beside him before chuckling lightly. “I guess so.” Looking over the huge fruit, he thought about it a moment before attempting to take a bite out of it. It was awkward sure, but it was actually delicious. “Thanks, Ember.” So was this it then? He was just stuck here? Much as it was a fairly depressing thought, never seeing home again, he attempted to give the situation some serious thought. He worked a dead end job, barely scraping by in a crappy apartment, and not a soul he could really call a close friend. Sure, he had a roommate, but he was never around. He would show up long enough to trash the place and drop off a fourth of the rent, on the logic that he shouldn't pay as much since he hardly lived there very long.
  48. Now though, he was in a position that was wholly unique to say the least. In a world of giant colorful ponies that hardly looked like ponies, who could all talk, and apparently had access to magic. At the very least, Ember had a point. He wouldn't exactly go hungry at a size like this.
  49. Looking over at his laptop set beside him, he pulled it onto his lap and started searching through his own personal stuff. His games, saved videos, pictures, things like that. Least he had most of his battery power before he got sucked here. Odds were he wouldn't be finding a compatible outlet to charge up. He felt a shadow loom over him as the surface beneath him shifted and bounced slightly. Looking up, he jumped a bit seeing the unicorn's massive face just inches behind him. “Um, what? Something wrong?” He'd have to talk to her about personal space at some point.
  50. “What?” She looked towards him rather than the little lit up thing in his lap. “O-Oh, no no, nothing's wrong! I just wanna know what that thing is. It's a hoomin thing, right? Cause there's nothing like that here.” She explained, shifting her gaze back to the tiny thing. At how close she was sitting, she could sort of make out what was on the lit up surface facing them. Was it magic maybe?
  51. “Really? Uh, well then, it's called a laptop. You can use it to look at pictures, or videos...” He paused a moment. She knew what videos were, right? Turning back to her and seeing her expectant, silent look towards him, he sighed. Figured. “Videos are like... like memories, sort of. You can watch the same thing you want, whenever you want, over and over again.”
  52. “Wow, really?!” She looked amazed, attempting to lean closer to see better, inadvertently nudging him forward with her nose. She backed up an inch or two, smiling sheepishly. “S-Sorry. It's just that that's really cool magic! That sounds super high level, like something the princess would be able to do.” She explained.
  53. He had an inquisitive look of his own for her this time. So they really had no form of technology? And what about a princess? They had a monarchy then, no presidents like humans did. Deciding not to trail off though, he saved his questions for later. “Uh, yeah. Magic, complicated stuff that I couldn't make if I wanted to. Using it's real easy though. Just click, click, click, and...” A video started playing, footage of one of his games.
  54. She looked downright mystified, obviously wanting to get a closer look at the tiny screen, though wary of accidentally shoving her tiny friend again. “Wow... that's so cool.” Would she be able to pull off magic like this? Playing 'videos'? Maybe even on way bigger screens that other ponies could watch! After all, she could barely watch this one.
  55. He couldn't help smiling at the wonder at something so simple to him. “You know, I've got more than this too. We can just watch a bunch if you want.” He offered, waving a hand. She nodded silently, obviously not wanting to interrupt the video she was so enthralled with now. A chuckle escaped him, nodding back. “Alright then. We'll have a marathon of everything I've got.”
  56. That was just how things progressed for the next few hours. He would slowly work on his giant fruit while playing video after video for his new giant friend, each one having something interesting for her to see. Well, he supposed this wasn't as bad as the situation could have been, suddenly appearing in a strange world. He could have wound up someplace dangerous, or hostile. But instead, he was sitting on a not uncomfortable mattress with some giant alien kid. He supposed this could work out, for now anyway.
