  1. Three years. It had been over three years since the civil war had started and Maisie Fletcher, along with many hundreds of thousands of other Americans confirmed to their President that they would take up arms in the fight against the fascists, communists and "wokists" who dared to rig the 2020 election and tear America apart for the sake of selfish political gains.
  2.
  3. Maisie vividly remembers her life just before the civil war: she was a math teacher, and a talented one at that; she was also gentle and patient, especially when she could see one of her students was struggling with an assignment, she should've been loved by both her colleagues and her students, and although she certainly had a significant number of people who were indeed by her side, there were also others in her school district absolutely reviled her. Why?
  4.
  5. It all started barely more than a week after she'd first gotten the job at the start of the school year in 2014, she was a teaching assistant at that time and the teacher had gathered everyone for a Monday morning roll call; however, before he could actually start, Maisie actually noticed something odd: one of the students whom she'd sworn had blonde hair on Friday showed up to class with his hair dyed a bright blue. "What's going on with you?" Maisie asked. "Is something wrong at home?" She continued, seeming to be genuinely curious about whatever this boy's situation might be, despite the subtlest hint of condescension in her voice.
  6.
  7. "Hm? Oh, I got my hair dyed on Saturday." He answered. "Is this... an issue?" He asked, brows furrowing in caution. Maisie could barely hide the disgust on her face, while also seemingly not caring about the eyes all around the class that were staring daggers at her; even the teacher looked at her unimpressed. "That's... great..." Maisie made no attempt to hide the vitriol and sarcasm in her voice, all the while she was silently cursing the "communist" school board for having no rules written against hair dye, piercings or any other unnatural ways that these kids might choose to "degenerate" their appearances.
  8.
  9. And yet, more things like this kept happening: she began hearing talk about a student of hers holding hands with a girl from another class she was apparently dating; she got an e-mail one morning telling her that she, a full-blooded American citizen, would be forced to use European-made metric units in lessons if she wanted to keep her job; she even got lectured by the at-the-time principal for being the only staff member in the school to partake in the anti-Juneteenth walkout some students had organised. She'd known that teenagers nowadays tended to show little regard for tradition and any patriotic duties they have, but she thought that there'd be at least a couple people who'd stood with her.
  10.
  11. And indeed there were at least some students she taught who stood by her, at least there were a few people left who knew how to raise their kids to resist the growing "mental illness" that is liberalism; there was even a non-insignificant number of fellow educators in her area who wanted to speak out against this spreading of counter-traditional values, yet they didn't, because they were afraid of losing their livelihoods at the hands of the "red-aligned elites". The hope for a truly patriotic youth seemed to be crumbling day-by-day, and Maisie was clueless as to how she, as a conservative teacher would survive this rising tide of "self-hating" American youths. All it seemed like she could do was wait for them to grow out of this phase, what she didn't know however is that all was needed was one charismatic and true conservative voice to "save the American people".
  12.
  13. To say that Maisie had latched onto Donald Trump and his campaign back in '15 and '16 would be an understatement. As soon as he was confirmed to be the GOP's nominee, she almost immediately got to work campaiging in his favour throughout her home city of Columbus, OH: she placed up posters, she flew flags and every time Trump had a rally within ~30 miles of her home, she would be there. She didn't care that most people in her community wouldn't like what she was doing, as far as she knew, she was doing what was right, even if it meant earning even more ire from those around her. Not helping matters was when a fistfight broke out between two students, who were discussing her recent semi-public acts of support for then President-elect Trump and were on opposite sides of the political aisle, she'd successfully persuaded the new principal to have that "SJW" brat suspended for a week, despite eyewitness accounts unanimously claiming that it was the pro-Trump student who struck first.
  14.
  15. And then, after what seemed like no time at all, D.J.T. was finally sworn in! And despite what the "far-left" media was saying, the American nation was stronger and more independent than ever, and it was all thanks to President Trump. However, a wrench would be thrown into this come four years later when Joe Biden would ascend to the country's highest office, losing the popular vote, but narrowly winning the electoral vote, a reverse of the situation from 4 years earlier. In hindsight, Maisie wonders if one more person (e.g. herself) showing up at the "peaceful" January 6th "demonstration" may've been enough to convice the Senate that the election was indeed stolen, not that it matters of course, that was the past, and the aftermath of the election was about to deteriorate into something so much worse.
  16.
  17. Maisie never considered herself a warrior (she was math-obsessed and a self-proclaimed "dork", for crying out loud!), yet as soon as the civil war broke out and Trump and his allies declared their government in Denver, she couldn't explain what specifically drove her to do it, but she rushed west out of her home state and into Trump-controlled territory for the purpose of defecting to Trump's government and joining his army. Initially, she was assigned to quell the unrest in Denver where she remembers those "terrorists" slandering her and her comrades to their faces with harmful names such as "bigots" and "murderers"; certainly if Trump was even half the bigot they were claiming he was, he wouldn't have let her, the only woman in her BCT, fight for him, and come on, don't they know that you can't kill people with rubber bullets?
  18.
  19. After finally being assigned to join the march east to "free all patriots trapped in liberal-occupied territory", Maisie couldn't help but be unimpressed by the display they were putting on, sure, they were being bogged down by fascist militias in Connecticut and Michigan, but so were she and her comrades, and they weren't losing, if you ignored the reports of kidnappings and disappearances of ACG soldiers operating in Michigan and Connecticut. To Maisie, all this did was prove the weakness inherent in liberal ideology, seriously, she'd rather be fighting those "Waffle Division" guys, or the incorrectly named "American People's Liberation Army" right now. She definitely became convinced of the weakness of Bidenism after she actually got shot in the shoulder in an APLA ambush during the Battle of Sacramento and had to be sent home for the rest of the war.
  20.
  21. And now, here she stands as a veteran with her left arm in a sling, standing in a column with her former comrades in Washington D.C., having helped save America and her democracy from that senile, hair-sniffing thief, she'd been one of the many soldiers who'd be present to guard the speech that President Trump gave declaring the rebirth of the United States of America and confirming that the "illegitimate" former presidents Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders will be swiftly and harshly brought to justice. Despite all this, she is still far from beloved in her community; sure, even she's wondering when Trump plans to reinstate habeas corpus, why her health insurer isn't covering her damaged shoulder and why she's the only person in her BCT who's fought for as long as she has who hasn't been promoted to a rank above private, but that's OK. She can wait, for she knows that when those days come, it will be all worth it. After all, she helped save America.
  22.
  23. She helped make America great again.
