- Waffle's thoughts on FDC I-No
- THIS IS COPY PASTA FROM A BOARD, SO IF THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE JUST REMEMBER I WAS TALKING TO SOMEONE.
- "I started to dislike them because:"
- They are fundamentally weak because gg is does not reward I-No for staying in the center of the stage. Any sort of crossup will push you away from the corner, where ino excedes.
- You can do a double crossup, which is what i ended up doing, like: <https://imgur.com/sUStrUx> this, but it becomes really obvious after you do it ONCE so it ended up feeling like more of a gimmick in the end. They are only really good for side switching INTO the corner for big combos, they are good for ending rounds, but thats about it. }
- FDC is good for other things that are hard to argue against. Things like js > FDC > js, or 5p > FDC > js. However what I ended up feeling like was happening is that I was going way beyond what was needed to properly mixup an opponent, when ino has all the tools she need to do FDC-like gimmicks stuff WITHOUT using FDC.
- There was also an issue of dropping stuff, which is LETHAL when youre playing against good players. So thats always a big factor since simple and clean will always beat high execution things that you have a chance of dropping. Thats just fighting games, but that point is somewhat arguable.
- The best use I found for FDC was movement in neutral. It helpes I-No move MUCH better. To the point where people were trying to do stupid shit to catch me in the air and just whiffing things entirely. It REALLY throws people off. Especially if they know the matchup, everything they knew about I-No movement gets flipped on its head. And luckly for everyone, that's easy to do.
- whoops
- didnt mean do send that yet
- the last point i wanted to add was meaties
- its harder to time meaties and safe jumps with FDCs
- i feel like the window is much more tighter
- people can hold up-back to you on FDC stuff and get away
- which really annoyed me
- I stopped FDCing when I noticed that jump > FDC > js is the exact same timing as hover > js
- Too much effort for not really that much reward other than the occasional gimmick
- OH
- theres also one more thing
- theres a lot of characters that use wake up 4p as an option select against ino's pressure
- like ramlethal
- so if you FDC over and crossup, they get an automatic optionselect anti crossup 6p
- so you get FUCKED from your crossup
- and that's a universal
- by an option select
- also, things like FDC over > airdash > js > jh is really weak
- because if they do block it, they can just throw you with a IB after the jh
- (unless you jd)
- but thats a different story
- its still "risky"
- but i will say one thing
- they are VERY VERY VERY VERY flashy
- it fucking **SCARES** your oppoenent
- ive had people's brain's melt and not understand ANYTHING of whats happening to them
- and get with crossups like 5 times in a row
- or straight up run away
- or immediately burst
- stupid things like jump > fdc > 2k
- works 100% of the time when it would never work if you had done hover 2k
- they only work ONCE though
- good players will just say "hah, that was cute"
- and then it will never work again
- and then you FDC yourself into a corner or something
- and die
- FDC combos i have no argument against, other than "dont drop it nerd"
- crossup, or gimmicks in general
- some crossups are really hard to see
- like hover > double jump > FDC > js > s dive
- that one works 100% of the time you try it
- because its fast
- but you dont really get many setups to SJ FDC > airdash crossup
- other than like an S dive ender midscreen
- so those are kidna obvious to see sometimes
- but theres things that i consider very strong
- like 5p > FDC > js
- thats really good
- 5p > FDC > IAD > jk > js > jk > jp
- thats really fucking good too
- 5h > FDC IAD is also very good
- but they are hard to do
- 5p > FDC > js is easy for me though
- maybe because i practiced it a lot
- i dropped it a lot because I would to 5p > jump RC
- because i was moving my fingers so fast that I the game would register my inputs as a plink roman cancel
- (i was hitting one button after the other with the same finger 1 frame apart)
- 1-2 frames
- 5p > FDC > js > 2k > 6p would cause 6p to whiff in some situations
- if you do it from really far distances
- so you would be stuck with 5p > SJ FDC > js > 6p
- which was hard to link, spaceout and time properly
- so its just better to do 5p > jd > double jump in those cases
- and the distances would vary according to characters and if your 5p caught a limb or not especially when they FD
- like
- theres a LOT of tiny tiny details that made me dislike it overall
