- The Three Supernatural Forces
- In the world, there are only three things that let one alter reality in some form. Those are Magic, Psychic Powers, and Faith. Each of them cheats reality in some form, allowing one to accomplish feats normally deemed as impossible. As a result, the wielders of these forces tend to keep to the shadows, for their existence would spark riots among the currently “complacent” populace of humanity. Power only leads people to seek it.
- Magic
- The world naturally produces ether, a substance that temporarily allows one to rewrite reality to their whim. Strangely, all humans possess even some minor potential to manipulate it, and as a result the majority of supernatural beings use magic. Magic in itself rewrites reality temporarily, giving it decent power and average longevity of their effects compared to the other two supernatural phenomena.
- Psychic Powers
- The ability to use one’s will to ignore reality itself. It breaks the rules to achieve its effects, and as a result, Psychic Powers are short-lived if not instant and much more powerful than magic on the same scale. However, usage is taxing on the mind and inevitably, the use of Psychic Powers tends to alienate the mind. Psychic Powers are limited to very few, making it the least common force seen.
- Faith
- Faith comes from strength in one beliefs and that of others, making it seem to be a strange cross between magic and Psychic Powers. Faith is the force that exploits loopholes in the rules of reality, and as a result it tends to be somewhat weaker in general, but it has very long lasting durations and some of strongest things in existence are miracles that seemingly go above and beyond the scope of the other two forces.
- Tl;dr
- Power: PSYCHIC POWERS > MAGIC > FAITH (as a soft rule)
- Duration: FAITH > MAGIC > PSYCHIC POWERS (practically always)
- CRAZY: PSYCHIC POWERS > FAITH > MAGIC
