** What is a Surfclip? **

In tight spaces where you can walk in the overworld, you can use Beat's Soundsurf to clip out of bounds. To do this, you Soundsurf away from the wall you want to clip through into any other wall, then turn around to the wall, and if done correctly you'll go OoB.

This trick was discovered by Snark (@Snark86), specific uses have been found by Snark themselves, Taechuk (@Taechuk), CrescentRR (@crescent2r) and ThatOnePundit (@ThatOnePundit).

** What are the implications of this trick? **

Since this trick requires Soundsurf, it can't be performed with our current knowledge until Week 2 Day 3 in a normal NG playthrough.

From OoB, you can skip some text triggers that would normally stop you from advancing, sometimes even closing the path to another area. Unfortunately, any area transition that isn't already open has its trigger very farther up, so even if you go OoB you can't actually sequence break into closed areas (e.g. you can't enter Miyashita Park early).

There's an exception, however.

** What are Wall Skips? How are they performed? **

If you can go OoB with a Surfclip to an area that has a void, it's possible to fall into it in a way that warps Rindo upwards. With correct timing, if you go into an otherwise closed wall after getting warped upwards, you will go through the wall like normal.

Wall Skips have less possible uses due to the void limitation, and are prone to causing softlocks. Walls are usually part of the mission sequence, and later parts of it may not appear if you do one. For example, skipping the Week 2 Day 1 mission to enter Tokyu Plaza early will not let you trigger the Houseleon fight that ends the day.

Performing a Wall Skip in Replay areas doesn't let you go to other places, and will open the time selection menu instead.

** What uses does Surfclipping have? **

The Scramble Crossing OoB allows going directly to Tower Records in Week 2 Day 7 to skip going around lots of areas to reach Susukichi. It also allows you to skip a text in front of Miyashita in Week 3 Day 2, as well as the Motoi fight in Week 3 Day 5, which also skips the Kanon fight in Tower Records. You can also skip a text in Week 3 Day 1, however that text is required to continue later on.

The one from West Bus Terminal transition allows skipping the fights on the way to Hikarie in Week 1 Day 1 (NG+).

The 104 clip from the truck skips a plague noise fight in Week 3 Day 2.

The Hikarie clip from the building corner can skip the Fuya fight in Week 3 Day 5, which also skips both the Motoi and Kanon fights later on.

The Tokyu Plaza clip skips the Beat text in Week 3 Day 7 (not the replays though). Skipping this also skips Kariya and Uzuki in Cat Street, but not the rest of the characters in the day.

The Cat Street clips from the telewarp spot can be used to go OoB and skip the Kariya and Uzuki text in Week 3 Day 7.

The Modi clip is a faster way of going to Spain Hill from Cat Street, so it may have its niches.

The alleyway clip in Takeshita Street can be used in Week 2 Day 1 (NG+) to get out of the alleyway early. However, you still need to imprint the guy to trigger the mission, since you can't progress without completing it.

The Shibuya Stream clip allows getting to the Shibuya River area without telewarping, but currently this method is much slower.

Any other currently known clip doesn't have any specific use other than messing around.

As for Wall Skips, the one in 104 allows skipping to O-East directly in Week 2 Day 5, but you need to perform both the O-East and Dogenzaka Wall Skips to get out of there.

The Tower Records Wall Skip allows skipping a fight, or taking the long way around, to go to Scramble after chasing the Reaper in Week 3 Day 2.

Other Wall Skips are either useless, or will simply softlock you if you don't have an open area transition or a way to perform a Wall Skip in reverse.

** Are there any other possible Surfclips that would be useful? **

Yes!

A clip in Expressway Underpass would allow skipping the Ayano fight in Week 3 Day 5. This one looks very possible in theory, and will hopefully happen at some point.
