Jealousy

The terms jealousy and irrational jealousy defined

I've noticed on Twitch that the word 'jealousy' is often used when American streamers are discussing relationships, which is often a hot topic in the Just Chatting section.

I think, when alluding to the concept of jealousy, what they really mean is actually irrational jealousy.

A quote from interacting with various LLMs on the topic of evolution and primordial human behaviour:

In loving relationships, jealousy serves as a protective mechanism, motivating individuals to guard against potential threats and maintain the bond with their partner. However, irrational jealousy can be detrimental, leading to controlling behaviours, mistrust, and relationship conflicts.

Distinguishing between jealousy and irrational jealousy is very important, especially when dealing with other people's relationships.

A Korean idiom I discovered that indicates just how significant jealousy can be regarded in their culture:

"질투가 없는 곳엔 사랑도 없다."
"Where there is no jealousy, there is no love."

It's not just the Koreans either. If you date any East Asian lady, and you don't feel any sense of jealousy at all at the sight of some random guy putting his arm around her, don't expect her family to trust you to protect her in the future.
