  1. Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant.
  2.
  3.
  4. Ezra Tull faces many adversities throughout Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant. All the problems can be traced back to the Tull family. Cody is one of the biggest adversities Ezra has to face. Ezra also struggles with an inner battle of his own. Ezra attempts to find a place to fit in, but never seems to. Ezra often struggled with The Homesick Restaurant. All of the struggles led to a very stressful, but Ezra took it all in stride.
  5. Ezra and Cody always had struggles between each other. Ezra and Cody never got along, no matter how hard Ezra tried to fix the situation. Cody is stubborn. He always believes Ezra is out to get him. “I won’t have it! Won’t have him hanging around the farm.” (Tyler 173) Here Cody becomes angry because Ezra brought up some things to Cody’s house, and thinks Ezra is trying to win Ruth back. Throughout the novel, Ezra tries to makes things better between them, but never to any avail. Ezra’s character is revealed the same way throughout the novel. Ezra is patient, easygoing, and happy.
  6. Ezra often felt different, never leaving home, or doing anything besides working at the restaurant. Ezra was always fighting an internal battle, never becoming different that the ten-year-old Ezra. When Ezra spotted the lump, cancer immediately came to mind. Ezra did not see cancer as a bad thing, but just another adventure. It was something that could make life more interesting. This shows how much Ezra lacks in life, yet he is content the way he is.
  7. The Homesick Restaurant is one of Ezra’s biggest challenges. When Mrs. Scarletti dies, Ezra is already starting to remodel the building. Ezra puts his whole life into his restaurant that was inherited from an old lady hardly anyone knew. The family dinners can best be described as the biggest adversary in Ezra’s life. Things never turned out as planned, and Ezra is the one hurt in the end, yet he never complains.
  8. Ezra Tull can be described as an easygoing character, no matter what stands in the way, whether it is Cody, the restaurant, or the whole family. Ezra’s character is revealed without revealing much. Nothing changes, and that’s what makes Ezra so unique. Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant contains many characters who all face the same adversity, but Ezra faces them in a very unique way, and that’s why Ezra is such a special character.
