- Thank You as always,
- Yes, heard of them quite a bit.
- I don't have any direct experiences with them but I can't say I've seen anything bad about them.
- We used Linode and were very satisfied. Only reason we left was because you can't add more storage (at least that how was year ago).

- Been using Linode for various test servers and other projects for several years.
- As long as their advertised specs work for you then you won't have a problem. If you need more space, additional IPs etc then you're better off elsewhere.
- Whenever I've had to contact their support they've been great and resolved issues very quickly.

- Linode was the original unmanaged VPS host, years before Digital Ocean and Vultr. Linode feedback has been like the stock market over the years. Positive for a while, then negative, then positive again. There was a time when you said Linode, and it would elicit nods of respect. But no more, and not for years. Honestly, much like Digital Ocean, I think their reputation was largely hype. I've not used them in about a decade now.

- Linode is good. Their support is responsive and they have a very large knowledgebase. Plus they are old and stable.

- Linode is awesome but I like DigitalOcean a bit more. Both have great support and are very stable.

- Hello,
- Is Mddhosting a Cloud platform? or just shared hosting marketed as cloud?
- I wonder if the cpanel with it is free.
- Thank you.

- Linode is one of my primary web hosts I use for my forums. Been using them for nearly 4 1/2 yrs - great performance and with upgraded network bandwidth you can great transfer speeds too 1-12Gbps out and 40Gbps in
- Example local Linode 8GB VPS and 4GB VPS getting approximately 635MB/s to test outbound network speeds where domain.com is from Linode VPS server
- Code:
- wget -O /dev/null http://domain.com/vultr.com.1000MB.bin
- --2018-07-14 14:18:38-- http://domain.com/vultr.com.1000MB.bin
- Resolving domain.com... xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
- Connecting to domain.com|xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx|:80... connected.
- HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
- Length: 1048576000 (1000M) [application/octet-stream]
- Saving to: ‘/dev/null’
- /dev/null 100%[==================================================================================================================================================>] 1000M 635MB/s in 1.6s
- 2018-07-14 14:18:40 (635 MB/s) - ‘/dev/null’ saved [1048576000/1048576000]
- Linode also much faster snapshot/backup/restore speeds compared to DigitalOcean and Vultr as well. But seems to be Linode data center dependent - in Linode Fremont datacenter my snapshot/data migration speed via Linode console is around 180-199MB/s while in Dallas getting around 120-150MB/s transfer speeds. A Linode 48GB VPS takes around 1.5-4.5 minutes to snapshot backup versus DigitalOcean 40GB droplet taking around 21+ minutes to snapshot backup !
- CPU wise Linode has different cpu models in use depending on the data center so cpu performance can vary. You have the following cpus from what I have seen/experienced
- Intel Xeon E5-2680v2
- Intel Xeon E5-2680v3
- Intel Xeon E5-2697v4
- Intel Xeon Gold 6148
- AMD EPYC 7501
- AMD EPYC 7451

- Linode are great. They have had their fair share of major issues (search "Linode hacking" or "Linode DDoS") but overall the service works excellently.
- If you want something similar to Linode, slightly worse performance but with more features and without negative events in their history, have a look at DigitalOcean.
- Is this still a shared hosting?
- or completely new cloud hosting platform and being shared to others?
- Thank You,

- So i'm eyeing on mddhosting. (I haven't found another "shared cloud hosting" site yet lol.)

- It's shared hosting. The confusing "cloud" part likely refers to:
- 1. running the shared hosting service on 'cloud' servers, which itself can mean various things but should be a highly-available VPS; and
- 2. the use of CloudLinux LVE.
- If you want your own cloud server, with the equivalent service of shared hosting, you will need to pay for a fully managed VPS at perhaps 20x the cost of a typical shared hosting plan or more.
- There are other providers using the confusing "cloud hosting" term for shared hosting, for example: https://krystal.co.uk/cloud-hosting
- Thank You as always,

- Who hasn't heard of Linode? I would not consider hosting with them based off of their Alexa rank though.
- Was thinking this myself when I first read the topic but forgot to mention it.
- Since when was Alexa rank a good indication of which hosting provider to choose?!
- It's still a factor for good indication, well for me atleast.
- I would check webhosting's alexa rank + confirmed reviews from WHT
- A good alexa rank for me is somewhere in the middle.
- Not too low and not too high. (Though there is 1 exceptional hosting that is high.)
- I'm not sure, I guess moderate users for me is better.
- Linode has always been great, I have personally used their services every now and then.
- Linode, Digital Ocean, Vultr, they are great. I used Linode in the past, it's ok except I forgot to destroy the instance so they still charged me (my mistake anyway). Currently I'm using Vultr but considering to move to DO cause they have more flexible pricing structure.

- You don't need a paid control panel like cPanel.
- There are free control panels like VirtualMin, VestaCP, Centos Web Panel will do the job as well as cPanel.
- VirtualMin: Complete Guide To Set Up Website With WordPress
- I have tried them and it been one of my favourites.
