- Hello,
- I have a Tinder profile I do not use (because I found my girlfriend here and thanks for that!) for almost a year.
- A few days ago, a friend of mine reported that she saw me on Tinder, which I couldn't believe. After more investigation I decided it's possible, someone created a fake account using my pictures, name and possibly other personal info.
- This is the information I currently know:
- * Fake profile uses my name "Kasparas" and age - 25.
- * It uses my current Facebook profile picture as the main Tinder profile image - https://imgur.com/HSwXzpu.
- * Fake profile was seen by my friend swiping in the location of Kaunas, Lithuania.
- * About one week ago I received an SMS message from Tinder about instructions to restore my password and that was not triggered by me.
- I'm making a guess that a person behind a fake account is someone I might know based on these facts:
- * Fake account uses my current Facebook profile picture (even it's public), name and age.
- * Fake account appeared in the same area as I currently live and used a Tinder before.
- * This person knows my phone number or email address if he/she is the one, who tried to reset a password.
- I would like Tinder staff to help me with finding a fake account and deleting it.
- Also, if the fake profile is detected, I am thinking about taking legal actions due to possible identity theft.
- From a Tinder privacy policy, it's clear that Tinder collects a lot of information about their users, like IP address, device IDs, phone number/email address/Facebook profile used for registration etc. I would like to know if Tinder provides this data to help with the investigation for authority.
- Thank you for your time and waiting for an answer!
