Red Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules

Pokémon Red Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules: (updated 6/10/2021)

1. Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be put in the Pokémon Storage System permanently, or for this game, released because the PC is a nightmare to figure out in gen 1

2. The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.

3. Shiny Clause is active, but unable to get shinies in gen 1 games

4. Level limit will be the highest in the gym.
Level limits:
Brock: 14
Misty: 21
Surge: 24
Erika: 29
Koga: 43
Sabrina: 43
Blaine: 47
Giovanni: 50
Elite Four overall Level limit: 56

Small note for level limits: Due to Koga and Sabrina being changeable, I will be doing either one depending on the situation.


5. Due to the sprites in gen 1, it's fine not to nickname pokemon

6. If you wipe, reset :)

7. Gift pokemon are allowed

8. Starter pokemon is chosen based on what I feel is good enough for the game

9. No Items allowed in battle

10. Do not start Nuzlocke until you receive pokeballs

11. Dupes and Species clause active

12. No Legendaries allowed :)
