- p. 107 - ask your partner what activities they enjoy doing, they enjoy not doing, and they don’t enjoy doing during free time. Write your partner’s answers in your chart.
- What do you enjoy doing during your free time? (You do it and that makes you happy.)
- What do you enjoy not doing during your free time? (You don’t do it and that makes you happy.)
- What don’t you enjoy doing during your free time? (You do it but that doesn’t make you happy.)
- ---
- I enjoy sleeping late. = I enjoy not waking up early.
- I don’t enjoy being hungry during my free time. = Sometimes I am hungry during my free time, and I don’t like it.
- I enjoy not being hungry during my free time. = I am not hungry during my free time (but I often am hungry at work or school), and I enjoy feeling not hungry.

- verb(ing) as a gerund is different from verb(ing) in continuous tenses
- “do” in the question always means an action
- What do you enjoy doing? I enjoy having free time. (wrong as an answer to this question, because having free time isn’t an action)
- What do you enjoy about retirement? I enjoy having more free time. (okay as an answer to this question, because I’m not asking for an action)
- *I am having more free time. (wrong, because we don’t use continuous with non-action verbs)

- gerunds function like nouns (they can be subjects or objects, they can be after possessives, they are after prepositions, etc.)
