  15. 1. Hardware Setup
  16.
  17. a. CRT_Emudriver requires either 32- or 64-bit Windows XP
  18. b. CRT_Emudriver requires a Radeon graphics card; list here http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/
  19. c. 32-bit XP with a Radeon 9250 connected via AGP and a Core2 Duo are the test hardware; most modelines are available with older hardware
  20. d. Radeon 4890 is the most powerful supported card; Radeon HD 2xxx, 3xxx, and 4xxx will be the only supported cards in the coming Windows 7 release
  21. e. Some supported cards have a dot-clock limit; best cards are a Radeon 9250 (AGP), Radeon X300-X600 (PCIe), or Radeon HD 4xxx (PCIe)
  22. f. Try to avoid "custom" Windows installations, other than Service Pack/Updates added; many have newer ATI drivers that will need to be uninstalled as per 2a
  23. g. This requires a 15 Khz monitor/TV with color-separated inputs (RGB, SCART, component with transcoder, etc.)
  24.
  25. --------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. 2. Driver Installation:

  33. a. Uninstall any existing ATI driver (custom Windows installations will include newer ATI drivers, causing problems). Use Catalyst Uninstaller above
  34. b. Reboot system
  35. c. Install ATI drivers for your card as informed by Install Site; setup.exe located in "driver" folder in crt_emudriver archive
  36. d. Reboot as instructed; do not install ATI/Catalyst Control Panel
  37. e. Verify proper installation as per Confirm Install methods
  38.

  59. b. Do not run MAME/UME; replace binary (mame.exe, mame64.exe, ume.exe, ume64.exe) with matching one from GroovyMAME/UME Download Site, renamed
  60. c. Generate a new MAME/UME .ini file; ex. Command Prompt > navigate to MAME/UME folder > "mame64.exe -cc" to generate mame.ini

  72. b. Open and configure vmmaker.ini for your monitor and point it to your mame .exe and .ini
  73. c. Read GroovyMAME forums and monitor/TV's service manual for settings; ArcadeOSD will help fine tune later

  81. c. Set various resolutions and modes generated by VMMaker and adjust as needed
