- 3. GroovyMAME/UME Installation
- 4. VMMaker Modeline Generation
- 5. ArcadeOSD Desktop and Modeline Configuration
- --------------------------------------------------
- 1. Hardware Setup
- a. CRT_Emudriver requires either 32- or 64-bit Windows XP
- b. CRT_Emudriver requires a Radeon graphics card; list here http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/
- c. 32-bit XP with a Radeon 9250 connected via AGP and a Core2 Duo are the test hardware; most modelines are available with older hardware
- d. Radeon 4890 is the most powerful supported card; Radeon HD 2xxx, 3xxx, and 4xxx will be the only supported cards in the coming Windows 7 release
- e. Some supported cards have a dot-clock limit; best cards are a Radeon 9250 (AGP), Radeon X300-X600 (PCIe), or Radeon HD 4xxx (PCIe)
- f. Try to avoid "custom" Windows installations, other than Service Pack/Updates added; many have newer ATI drivers that will need to be uninstalled as per 2a
- g. This requires a 15 Khz monitor/TV with color-separated inputs (RGB, SCART, component with transcoder, etc.)
- --------------------------------------------------
- 2. Driver Installation:
- Install Site: http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/
- Catalyst Uninstaller: http://downloads.guru3d.com/The-Catalyst-Uninstaller-download-1275.html
- English ReadMe: http://pastebin.com/Gv0FA5YQ
- a. Uninstall any existing ATI driver (custom Windows installations will include newer ATI drivers, causing problems). Use Catalyst Uninstaller above
- b. Reboot system
- c. Install ATI drivers for your card as informed by Install Site; setup.exe located in "driver" folder in crt_emudriver archive
- d. Reboot as instructed; do not install ATI/Catalyst Control Panel
- e. Verify proper installation as per Confirm Install methods
- Confirm Install (v9.3):
- Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > ATI Display Driver
- Confirm version 8.591-090225a-076826C-ATI (Catalyst 9.3)
- Confirm Install (all versions):
- Start Menu > Run > dxdiag
- Go to "Display" tab
- Confirm that all DirectX features are enabled
- --------------------------------------------------

- c. Generate a new MAME/UME .ini file; ex. Command Prompt > navigate to MAME/UME folder > "mame64.exe -cc" to generate mame.ini
