Poisoned Prey prp

The desert shows signs of damage even before you get to the point of contact. Barren would be better than the scarred mess paving the way to the dump site. Foilage and animals mark the proximity either with their corpses or their disfirgured forms wincing at the approach. The smell of sun and sand is choked away with the acidic tinge of whatever is being dumped here. The closer you get the more the very soil bubbles, apparently it takes time for the toxic waste to sink into the ground.

The meeting point is about a mile from the area in question but even this close Rage rankles sensing something unholy even if your other senses aren't picking up direct warnings. It's a remote stretch of desert parallel to Burning Man knock off events suggesting the reason for this being a dumpsite. No real road or track just the idle truck path or ATV marks in the ground. Scowling into the horizon is a face from Paiute history stuffed into modern dress. When he sees others the relief in his eyes is almost enough to soften his dour expression. "Aho.".

Kachina pulls up with Dani in an old model Silverado with the camper shell. After hopping down, the short Ojibwa raises a hand. "Good to meet you again friend. Next time we will meet for a drink or a pipe. What do you know about these polluters. I assume it isnt just idiots tossing beer bottles or you would have had the regular police deal with it, no?"

        "Yeah, because those idiots would deal with that. They can't even deal with the murders that happen in the city..." Dani says in her hoarse voice as she too moves from the truck and looks around for a bit.

Burt tilts his head slightly at Kachina's question, "The answer to that is complex. Suffice to say these guys have just enough pull to keep a simple report from foiling them. The target is a new dump site for some truly noxious shit. It's new but these guys seem to be trying to make up for lost time. The Shadow is likewise injured but my informants tell me the heart of the danger is here in the world.". He points east, deeper into the desert "Remote location, the concetration of banes suggests we may have mockeries waiting for us. I would say my pack could just wipe them off the map..." he frowns at his shoes. "But there is something I can't pin down from a distance. I mean no disrespect sisters but you both can fight yes?".

Kachina sighs. "I can track. I can fight, but not like a garou. Im a medicine woman."

        "I can. But that is usually a last resort for me." Dani comments, "But if it comes down to that, yes, I can fight."

Burt nods simply at Kachina, "This will need medicine without a doubt. If my information is correct the dumpers are at the site now. It has been the same group so I do not anticipate reinforcements. Even my modified phone is having trouble with connecting out here so if we need to abandon discretion for any reason we should be fine.". He sighs seeming sympathetic "If there is another way I am open to it. I fear the spirits demand blood but even though I am Garou I am not one of my people's greatest warriors. If we would like to see first it is a mile or so east from here.".


        "Well if it is a mile east, then we should get walking." Dani says and she starts in that direction. She might have a limp, but she looks like she could keep up just fine with most people. To say that she was direct is an understatement, as she wants to get this over with as quickly as possible.

Kachina nods. "We should. If we need to come back with reinforcements, we will know after today. I am less noticeable in feline form. I will take it when we get closer. If I can get a look at them I can use rituals to find them again with a proper army if thats what we decide."

The road to the toxic oasis is mostly flat for about a half of a mile until you hit a crooked ridgeline zigzagging across the horizon sufficient to give cover if one so desired. The metallic scent in the air is choking, what little that has survived is twisted. 80's hair rock echoes from the dump interwoven with coarse laughter.

A small site with clumsily thrown up chain link fence encircling it. Two work trucks are parked near some barrels in what appears to be the only direct entrance. Five guys in jeans and grey uniform work shirts sit around joking and drinking something from shiny cans maybe fifty feet from their trucks. Except for the proximity to the poison everything looks pretty mundane...until one of the guys dips a thermos cup into a barrel and gulps down some bubbling green liquid.

Kachina has taken feline form by this time to make a lower profile. She studies the men drinking that filth and calls upon Selene to show her their primal nature. She hides up on the ridge near the others.

        Dani isn't all that stealthyper se, but she is sure of one thing when she sees the people gathered, she's likely to need a little more resillience when it comes to the fight, which will surely happen. She looks over to Burt, "You're sure that this is all of them?"

Kachina makes those little biting motions with her teeth that cats do when hunting prey. She sneaks over to the rest of you. "The men bear the mark of cahlash and the liquid more so," she whispers. "Unclean."

Burt frowns when he bears witness. The Uktena grunts and nods at Dani, "These are the only physical beings I could pin down. The only drop crew. No one mans the facility. The other side is choked with banes but I am confident if we can reconcile this they will starve to death.". He sighs and clenches his eyes shut while he fights back his Rage and strains to maintain compsoure at the sight of violation. "I fear I might be missing something but what..." he expresses with clenched teeth. Looking up at Kachina he winces confusedly for a brief moment then nods. "How would we like to proceed sisters?".

        "Well these are likely Fomori since they are drinking the goddamned sludge..." Dani says as she looks again. "I could spend a little time tring to call something to aide us, maybe an earth or fire elemental...."

Kachina says, "Thats a good idea. Also...I wouid say, dont be too eager. They are drinking. That means pissing. We should wait for one to go and piss. See if we can take him quietly. If not they will have to fight us not conveniently next to that ooze. I dont want to get drenched in that shit on accident."

Burt scratches his head looking a little awestruck at Dani "You can do that? Awesome. I can try to blind them, might spook them and cause them to run?" he shrugs. "I am on board for both diving them up and avoiding that gross shit.". He looks between them both "I'm not an expert on mockeries. Are they usually suceptible to the Delerium or does the Wyrm take that with their souls?".

        "I've seen both. Those that can be affects, and those that can't...But usually the ones made for fighting are immune." Dani says, then looks to Burt, "Calling spirits isn't all that difficult once you learn how."
Kachina says, "Im afraid I dont know all that much about the union of bane and human. But I assume they can die."

Burt "Ooohs" in hushed tone seeming a little embarrassed, "A Summoning ritual. Ofcourse sorry. I don't know anything about bear magic except what our storytellers tell us.". The spooky Uktena nods "I don't doubt they can.".

        One of the men slaps the others backs and leaves toward a small concrete shed at the facilities center. A keen eyed person can see it's the bathroom.
Kachina motions her head toward the bathroom and the man going there. She creeps in that direction on soft paws.

        "Which must not be much as many of our rituals are exactly the same." Dani says, "But if I am to summon something, it will take some small amount of time. And we'll have to have a defined reason for summoning the spirit. I was thinking A fire elemental to destroy the trucks."

A swirling column of fire erupts from the Penumbra crackling softly. Their is an initial wave of searing hurt, not enough to damage but enough to be aware of it before the warmth seems to consciously contain itself. *Spirit Speech* "Drawn to warmth of friendship. Blazing here in you. Play?". To those who can understand the spirit it is addressing Dani with the friendliest tones fire can muster.

        Dani moves out of sight and starts to prepare for a quick summoning. Instead of spending hours in the preparation for this, she just taps in to some of her inner strength to ensure that the ritual goes as planned. She speaks to the spirit upon its arrival, conversing in snaps and crackles with the firey elemental in its own language, exlaining that there is fuel waiting to be ignited and consumed in the trucks and that will cause massive and entertaining explosions, much fun for all and a welcome distraction.

Kachina will use spirit sight once Dani starts to speak in her odd language. She will study the ritual closely trying to commit it to memory.

The column flares in delight. *Spirit Speech* "Play. I accept this meal friend.". It snakes along searing the ground in it's path. The approach is not subtle but the men don't seem to notice anything until small flames around their trucks which rapidly build into an inferno. Three of them scramble around looking for something to put out the conflagration with little luck. One screams in a panic and runs to the shed. And the last man, the one who drank goo just watches the flames with a blissful smile.

        Burt's widen "Holy shit. Now what? Hop the fence and flank them?".
Kachina runs toward the shed as fast as four legs can carry her. That will have to do for an answer. The lynx will go quietly if she can.

        Dani starts to run towards the fence, the limp a lot less noticable at a run, and she's not exactly slow. "Climb? Why go over the fence when you can easily just go through it?"

The Garou laughs following the others. As he moves his form ripples into that of a grey wolf trying to mask the cat's jogging stealth pace with presumably less grace. The fence is not hard to scale or sturdy enough to stop any concerted effort to knock it down.

        Right before she is about to hit the fence, Dani shifts, more than doubling in size, her warform is massive. there is no way a little fence will stand up to a fourteen foot Gurahl, but at the same time, there is no way that the Gurahl would be in any was stealthy. The Bastet draws blood but the Fomori worker is surprisingly spry, soaking the bulk of the blow and successfully kicking away the incoming Garou. His defense costs his attack as he swings wide. The second guy, face twisted with hate rushes forward ready to soak the Gurahl in toxic waste but slips in a chunk of his mutilated friend and falls head first into the open barrel spasming wildly half submerged in the goo.

Not much here can suffer the Rage of one of the Mother's healers. The Gurahl's claws are wet with Fomori blood and so are the other to a lesser degree. Burt runs down the fleeing guy and the fire elemental seems content to watch its burning trucks. When the Garou returns he does so as a man, the form he was born in. "Now the question remains as to how we dispose of this garbage? I know magic that will set the area right spiritually once we clean the physical mess up." the werewolf mentions to the others.

        There is a reason why a lone gurahl is considered a dangerous opponent to face. Even one whose specialty is healing and cleansing. She returns to her natural form and looks over, "I have a rite that I can do that will cleanse any poisonous gasses or liquids..."

Burt mouths "Wow" trying to keep his cool despite being fascinated with his temporary team mates. After a moment's consideration he nods, "I can return the balance to the spiritual portion of the land. Um...". The Uktena rubs the back of his head before gestures around at the site "What will happen to this place? Will your magic just make everything toxic disappear? Does it convert into something else? I'm just trying to gauge how many phone calls I should make after we perform our rituals.".
