  1. On entering the arena, he'd move down to the paved ground and tapped it with his rod that seemed to conjure out of this air! Probably some dryad spell! "There is dirt under this. I'll be fine." As he said this, bark would begin to cover most of his body except his face... So you know, he could actually see.
  2.
  3. His staff was taken into both hands, waving it around to prepare the fight. "And no! This isn't carved from a living tree, I carved it from a dead tree down in the jungle! Huff!" Excuses! Of course he had to give reasons to him using a WOODEN staff when he was so protective of nature!
  4. (Fhaun)
  5.
  6. Lightly walking with the dryad north to the fighting pit, Hadwin would find himself inside the pit today. Weird considering he’s been standing by the audience for most of the times he’s been in this building. On the other side was Fhaun. Hadwin was still unfamiliar with the dryad’s repertoire, though he was very sure he would find any semblance of danger from nature to be prominent considering his opponent’s kind.
  7.
  8. Twirling his staff as the bird holds on for dear life, he would cause a stream of earth to cling to his skin, making part of his knowledge known. “Now, now. I’m a lover, not a fighter, but I’ll make sure to give you a very fun time.” He would say in a very lax manner as he prepares for battle. Hm, maybe he can test something out? Nah, maybe later.
  9. (Hadwin)
  10.
  11. Totoli still seemed somewhat immersed in his spiritual state, or at least his body was quietly radiating spiritual strength. Unique flashes of blue undulations invisible but to those that were spiritual creatures or spirit magi.
  12.
  13. The youth had watched the strange dryad challenge Hadwin to a friendly spar, and as his mind seemed to return to his body he quietly followed them. Perhaps the arena was a good place to sit and saturate in the air of battle. . . and to grow in his own understanding.
  14.
  15. He quietly took a seat in the back as the combatants began.
  16. (Totoli Xibalba)
  17.
  18. Totoli's eyes sparkled as Hadwin used a familiar element, wind in the battle. It assaulted the dryad, and though slowing him at some points he was quick to recover his momentum!
  19.
  20. The youths hand touched his spear and placed it in his lap, and an onlooker could see the tip of his weapon quivered ever so slightly . . . .
  21. (Totoli Xibalba)
  22.
  23. With his command over earth, he would bombard the dryad with the very land that his plants grew on. As the earth tumbled and shook, he would call upon the spirits in the stars as the field would glisten in a golden shimmering light akin to the stars in the night sky.
  24.
  25. Yet the dryad had his own tricks, often catching Hadwin off-guard with powerful vine lashes, yet the earth skin that has clung to him takes the brunt of the attack for him. As the two clashed, he would pull out the first trick under his sleeve as the bird on his staff loudly caws. Orbs of decay would rise out of him as those would prove to be quite the attack, purging out attacks akin to clockwork.
  26.
  27. As the two would momentarily face each other in a moment of peace in the battlefield, Hadwin would call out to the dryad. “Woop. Not bad. Haha!” He seemed like he was having fun.
  28. (Hadwin)"Wind... Earth... Time... Cosmic...?"
  29.
  30. He didn't understand - why was this guy so damn versatile? Didn't he limit himself by exploiting so many magics? He wasn't sure exactly, his staff clicking the ground as large vines would begin to hold the earth that Hadwin was using against him in place - however, he had no actual means of stopping the other magics...
  31.
  32. He was pushed back, held up by a tree that rose from the ground to heal his wounds...
  33.
  34. "So many magics.. You're strong now - But I have a feeling you're limiting yourself in the long run..?" Maybe? Perhaps that was the case, although perhaps there was much more to this than what Fhaun had thought!
  35. (Fhaun)
  36.
  37. Hadwin had to be catching on by now Fhaun's style was very odd. When he closed in, it was only for a small amount of time. Usually to disable the man's movement before allowing for a flower in his palm to open and release a spray of acid in his face! Not lethal but enough to sting his face and make him feel some sort of discomfort!
  38.
  39. He pulled back however, watching! They seemed to be rather even when it comes to the raw act of combat! Both new, yet neither completely incompetent...
  40.
  41. "Lets go again! This is lots of fun!" It really was!
  42. (Fhaun)
  43.
  44. Oof. His careless cockiness begins to show this time around. His over-the-top movements and flamboyant methods were prove bigger openings for Fhaun to attack. Along with him being much more predictable now that the dryad has seen most of his tricks, he was probably in for a harsher time. But that was not in his mind! He was having fun afterall.
  45.
  46. “Oh yeah, I haven’t gotten to do this a long while!” He says with glee. The bird on the tip of his staff caws towards Hadwin. Whether it was cheering for him or squawking for something else was entirely unknown as the Ezmaran would prepare to continue the spar.
  47. (Hadwin)
  48.
  49. Watching the two continue to battle, his fingers flick against his spear. Totoli's eyes moved from combatant as magic of various elements burst from their respective wielders.
  50.
  51. Though none used a spear he was still finding it a fruitions moment with which to gain experience!
  52. (Totoli Xibalba)
  53.
  54. As the battle raged on, a mist of sand begin to form around the feet of Hadwin. A bright smile remained affixed to his face as the earth seemed to shake more violently. Nothing too much to hurt, but it would seem like his potency with the specific spell was growing.
  55.
  56. “Alright.” He calls out to the dryad as he prepares himself. It was time to put what he’s been reading to the test. Thrusting his spear towards Fhaun, he would focus his energies in a channel of some-sort. The bird on the end gloriously spreads its wings in unison. He he, just like they practiced. It caws loudly as its stuffed eyes glows white, jutting out a flash akin to a flashlight for a moment. Could he actually call it forth?
  57.
  58. His energy pulsated as the dirt and sand beneath his form slowly began to puff up to his legs. He could feel a presence. Or that’s what he tells himself at least. The sand on his feet twirls in a mini twister as it slowly ceases, falling down to the ground. A second passes. Hadwin remained standing in the pose he was in. Another second passes. He was beginning to get nervous. A third second. The light on the bird’s eyes fades as it closes its wings. His eyes dart to Fhaun, then to Totoli, then back to Fhaun again.
  59.
  60. Quickly he recoils, defensively holding his staff near his face as he seemed a bit embarrassed yet still ready to continue. “What, but I did it right?” He whispers. His eyes slowly pan down to the bird. It’s fake eyes staring up at him as it turns to the dryad quickly as it seemed to shun Hadwin. “Wha. . .”
  61. (Hadwin)
  62.
  63. It seems he was caught! It was something akin to quicksand, something that he himself would struggle heavily to get out. His feet would kick, and his body would jostle in many ways as he would sink to a certain point... Thin his eyes would lock on the man who was now casting a spell-
  64.
  65. He needed to get out of this as quickly as possible. Two trees would form at either side, sticking out of the sand! Two vines attach to him and begin pulling him out - although it seems to have all been for nothing as Hadwin's spell outright failed...
  66.
  67. "Don't let you guard down! Yes- yes! That's bad!" A barrage of nature spores was on its way! The fight continued.
  68. (Fhaun)
  69.
  70. With his fumbling attempt at summoning the inner being that he has grown to groom, the Ezmaran would rushing to keep up an entertaining battle with the dryad. After all, it would be boring if he posed nothing of interest to his opponent.
  71.
  72. As the battle continued, while plant matter and earth collided in battle, those with a keen eye (and probably the audience) could see the tiniest sliver of sass from the bird that rested mystically on the silver-haired man’s staff. It seemed less reactive for the latter part of the fight.
  73.
  74. Despite this, it seemed like any help that it gave was only a bit as Hadwin would continue. Throw out spells without any noticeable difference. With the dryad painfully landing whips on him, his stone skin would alleviate any immediate pain as he would power through, running at full speed at the dryad as yellow streaks of cosmic energy would trail him. A powerful blow would soon be made as he dashes right at the horned figure.
  75.
  76. The bird on his staff seemed to resent this completely as it seemed to screech in fear as Hadwin charges in. His body rushing past powerful spores and deadly flora, he would soon crash into Fhaun. Despite this, he himself would not have properly accounted for his momentum as Hadwin would find himself tumbling forward as well, joining Fhaun as the two falls to the ground. It seemed like the spar is done.
  77.
  78. The bird staff still gripped to his Hadwin’s hand, he chuckles as he sits up. “I haven’t had that much fun in a spar for a while! You’re pretty good there buddy!” He commends the dryad as he props himself up. He walks over to Fhaun as he himself offers a hand to help him up. The bird on his staff is visibly dazed from that surprising final blow as it caresses its head, nursing the front part of its forehead.
  79. (Hadwin)
  80.
  81. He was defeated!
  82.
  83. Something he wasn't really expecting. For most of the fight, the two were evenly matched really. Throwing magic and spells at each other until Fhaun found himself on the ground. Nature would recline back into the ground, knowing that its time here was done. While he was dizzy and on the ground.
  84.
  85. However soon, he would be helped up. His eyes watched in confusion. "Yes yes! That was super fun!" His hands ran up to the top of his head to check if his horns were still there, which they were and with a nod he stepped forward.
  86.
  87. "Yes yes- I don't know what you did wrong with the spell but I'm willing to work together to figure it out. Yes yes." He would smile towards the man.
  88. (Fhaun)
  89.
  90. “Hm, well I’d be happy with any help at this point.” He would say as he asks the dryad to follow him. The two walk in the peacefully silent cover of the evening. While they walked, Hadwin would fumble with his knapsack, pulling out the same ruined tome that he read when they were back at the Cruxati temple. Flipping the page open, the dark evening sky wouldn’t really provide enough light to make most of the text readable, but the approaching glow of the temple’s braziers would greet them as they would return to the plaza.
  91.
  92. Hadwin would approach one of them as he continues to flip through the stolen tome. “Well, you know the spirits right? There’s been tales that people has become, well, friends with them.” He says in a doubting manner. “I was told this story multiple times in the cradle. Some people, the spirits doesn’t just guide them.” He shrugs. “It’s just been my interest ever since. But get this. There’s been rumors about a valmasian. They say he’s got a wraith bound to him.” His tone seemed worried as he cringes in a fit of fear. “Luckily I think he’s dead. But that’s got me thinking. What if I befriend a spirit?”
  93.
  94. Finally he stops flipping through the book as it lands on a page pertaining to folklore of elementals. Nothing too exact, mostly vague accounts and stories partnered with equally surreal looking drawings of what they looked like. Hadwin would offer this to Fhaun, showing it to him.
  95. (Hadwin)
  96.
  97. (Fhaun had to leave right after this so we just said we would part ways after the last dot.)
