We begin our tale on a planet much unlike our own. The surface is a blasted and desolate wasteland and the world itself is home to only a single race of beings, demonic creatures which live far beneath the surface of the wastes. For countless millennia they languished in darkness that was...until a warm light was cast upon the wasteland above. A being of pure mana resembling a dragon descended upon the world and wherever she went, life and beauty sprung forth. She saw the demonic race peeking up from deep underground and took pity upon them and gave them three gifts, first she gave them the gift of magic, second she revitalized the world, turning the surface into a beautiful and gorgeous paradise and third...she created the 2nd race to grace this planet, the kobolds who soon befriended and helped lead the Demons to flourish upon their now beautiful world.

After she saw all that she had done, she called upon the natural elements of the world and with them forged four dieties, four dragons which represented all there was. Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water. With their powers they created races of their own, Fire creating the orcs and beastmen, Wind creating the Elves and other fae races, Earth bringing forth the Dwarves and Goblins, and Water creating the aquatic races. With this the Goddess created one last race, humanity, flawed but in the image of beings she had once known.

From there a single human rose up through all the races, a mage of immeasurable talent, power, and an endless curiosity for all knowledge there is and was. The Dragon Goddess...fell in love with him and he with she and he became the first of the high mages, magic-wielding members of the races who helped guide and teach humanity about all there is and was. He transcended his mortality and became the first Arcane Lich and the Elder Mage of the council that now governed the world. The day came however when he left his world in order to seek out knowledge beyond it but...in doing so he left the position of Elder to an inexperienced individual who had ambitions of his own.

He sought to perverse and corrupt and wield the true power of magic for his own needs and so began a campaign wherein he corrupted four of the most powerful individuals from the humans, orcs, elves, and dwarves and together they cast a shadow across the world as they slowly gained power and strength in secret. When the time came they struck, striking down the Elemental Dragons and sealing them within blades forged by the Dwarven smith and soon gathering an army of corrupt individuals and mechanica beyond imagining. They marched towards the Dragon Goddess and despite her power she could not survive against the dark wizard's might combined with the stolen might of her children, he ascended into godhood upon her defeat and became a dark god that sought to conquer the world.

In her rage and sorrow she sought to deny the wizard her prize and unleashed an unspeakable wave of power across the world, shattering the heavens and the earth and all that there was, even shattering the dark god and the four blades of power that contained her children, scattering their divine essence across the world as all were slain in the first great cataclysm. So, we turn the page and return to the former Elder who had been traveling the stars, hundreds of years later the Lich returned and saw that the world had been destroyed, all that was left were the shards of divine essence which had been left behind by the goddess, her children, and the dark god.

In his sorrow he wept for all that he had lost and in time began to rebuild what had been destroyed. He gathered the shards of the Goddess and her children while hiding the shards of the dark god and using them, he brought many of the races back to life, using the most powerful of the shards to create the first beings of each race who would serve as rulers and guides above all others. For a time, life was well and much of what was lost slowly began to be rebuilt. He even created a task force of transforming warriors that called upon the powers of the dragons and concepts to keep up the peace and justice of this new world, needing more powerful warriors to protect it from another calamity.

That was until the First Human began to hear a voice calling out to them, speaking to them and they journeyed out from their home to find where the voice was coming from. The Dark God had found it's next champion and twisted the beliefs and desires of the first human and gave him a lust for power. He used his might and magic to gather and corrupt much of humanity, even corrupting many of the Hands that were once sworn to justice, thus began the second great war. Each member of the new council were sealed and the Lich was launched into the heavens by a powerful blow and so darkness reigned over the world once more.

A church was founded that worshiped the first human as a god-emperor and the Hands that were left were either killed or turned into a taskforce that now worked under the church as much of history was rewritten and changed to follow what he saw fit, the many races of the world going into hiding as the church's reach soon stretched over most of the free world. Some countries of humans had avoided his grasp and so stood up and founded free countries that existed outside of their grasp and so it has been for many milennia, the first human still ruling from atop his marble throne as he seeks to resurrect the dark god.
