- [15:30] Trevor: curious if you've tried the matchmaking code at all?
- [15:37] Trevor: because i've been thinking about how it would work in a league like the one you're creating
- [15:37] Trevor: and i figured you wouldn't have to have ALL the bots running the matchmaking code
- [15:37] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): oh?
- [15:37] Trevor: you could leave the main bots running the way they are now, allowing anyone to join, no matchmaking
- [15:37] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): im in a game atm
- [15:37] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): will be done soon
- [15:37] Trevor: that's fine
- [15:38] Trevor: then while those bots are running, you create some matchmaking bots, call them whatever you want "league bots" or "safehigh" as DIV would have called it
- [15:38] Trevor: and on those bots, enable matchmaking with required ratings of, well at first you might use 1200-5000 or something just to put a lower restriction on
- [15:39] Trevor: but to help people get better matches you could eventually have some bots with limits like 1100-1200 and 1200-1300 and such
- [15:39] Trevor: but while all this is going on, you still allow people to play in the "no matchmaking bots"
- [15:40] Trevor: a couple things here 1.) this allows the "no matchmaking" bots to continue with multirealm hosting 2.) it also allows players to "farm" their score in the "no matchmaking" bots if they want to since if they are very good players they will likely win against unorganized opponents - you may consider this a bad thing or a good thing
- [15:41] Trevor: if you don't like the fact that that can happen, then you'd have to turn the regular bots into matchmaking bots too, thereby removing the multirealm ability but then you could set generous limits like -10000 to 1100
- [15:41] Trevor: anyway, those are some of the things i was thinking about
- [15:41] Trevor: not sure what your plans are
- [15:42] Trevor: it depends on how badly people want a high score vs. how badly they want to play a fun, even game -> they can sit there in the standard bots and crank their score up high by playing stupid games, or they can play in one of the matchmaking bots and have enjoyable games but with a higher risk of losing
- [15:43] Trevor: in a serious league this would be a bad thing for sure, but maybe giving people the opportunity to improve their score outside of a matchmaking bot is useful since it gives people an alternative advancement method
- [15:44] Trevor: as far as i'm concerned i just kind of want to know if it works in practice or not, i think there are some improvements that need to be made
- [15:44] Trevor: i'll probably fix it up some more in the next 4 or 5 days
- [15:45] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): i like it
- [15:45] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): should be done in a few mins
- [15:55] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): what would the players incentive be
- [15:55] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): to play in the league bots
- [15:55] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): vs the open bots
- [15:55] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): unless
- [15:56] erax0r@gmail.com (E-mail Address Not Verified): i have a different ladder setup for the league bots..
- [15:57] Trevor: you would assume the league bots would have fewer leavers, more evenly matched players, higher skill level in general
- [15:58] Trevor: or you could have a different ladder if you want to for sure, require a certain ranking on the public ladder to join them
- [15:58] Trevor: and then keep a different ladder there
- [15:58] Trevor: that's reasonable as well, maybe even a better idea
- [15:58] Trevor: you wouldn't have to even do matchmaking if you didn't want to
