Fishergirls in space

Sora to Umi no Aida, better known by its English title Fishergirls in Space, is a political drama about the wage gap between sexes and corruption in leadership. Five girls and a lalafell do most everything except go to space for about 75% of the show, including go to the beach, watch fireworks, and threaten suicide to prevent a rocket launch. At least half of them attempt to quit the group. One of them is afraid of water. One of them is afraid of swimsuits. All of them summon gods through their confidential phone application that allow their submarines to not be crushed under the pressure of water. Not only is there an industry dedicated to sending young men and now women into blitzball arenas in the starry sky to do gladiatorial combat with massive fish, including one that sounds like this https://youtu.be/sId6tnR3pBE?t=3, but there is also an industry dedicated to putting them in massive cans. Additionally, this industry is used as a demeaning place for women because they are not cut out to be space fishers. We get no explanation as to why space water is an environment where fish can live but earth water is no longer hospitable. Motivations range from the desire to feed grandma, to searching for a long lost probably dead brother, to wanting daddy to notice me. Basically what I'm trying to say is this show is love live if the premise of becoming school idols was replaced with becoming the aquatic power ranges but also in space, and rather than saving a school they're whistle blowing what might as well be the Japanese government by just how important space fishing is in this universe.
