It's a religion. A cult really. It starts of reading some far leftist propaganda like Huff Post, and then you end up in extreme leftists online communities, or meeting people in marxist this or anarchy that events. (like the marxist book fair in hamilton).
The thing is it's like most social environments. You basically stay because you make connections, friends. Most of the people that are part of thee groups are losers and have been their whole lives. This is a place they belong. It also helps they are morally and intellectually pretty stupid so they don't question the actual political nonsense. Most of these kids would be right wing if they had been accepted as friends by people on the right.
It took me a while because I made some friends that were part of it after I move to TO, i didn't have other friends. I also noticed at U-fT my profs would kind of support leftists more than others and I was stupid enough to look up to these incredibly evil manipulative assholes.

They are looking to fit in and have meaning. There are adult pedophiles, media personalities, and professors that basically kidnap these kids and manipulate them to push marxism. I saw a UofT prof brainwash a girl who said she felt awkward into thinking she is a lesbian and later into a man. I saw this happen over months. The prof literally used the fact that she felt fragile and awkward (like a lot of teens do) against her. Told her she is probably feeling awkward because she might not be in the right body. Then basically forced her into thinking she's a dude.
Most of these kids are just brainwashed, there are probably a few dozen absolutely evil pedophiles/professors in most large antifa cities brainwashing these kids.

I think there are since some antifa come and go, but its very dangerous to openly question anything the cult says. They THINK they are concerned with these issues, but if they were given an opportunity to fit in somewhere else and have meaning in their lives for a different cause i would guess >3/4 of the young people would leave quickly. It was really hard rationalize the lack of dialogue or trying to understand the other side. I noticed it was a cult in this behaviour. If we were so right then why were we refusing to have dialogue? Why were we using violence in cases where violence was not used by our "enemies"? Why was it forbidden for us to even have these discussions at our meetings? How is our side right when we refuse to talk about facts and objective reality? ..and how we meet facts we don't like with snark, a complete intention misunderstanding of the other sides points, and threats and violence? How is that normal? It ate away at e for a long time. Its not easy leaving theses cults, even though one would think it is. Its like leaving your family. These people are really dependent on the social help from other antifa members (they see them as their family- even above their real family which they often hate).

No, all I know is there is a lot of money. There are definitely liberal donors to different community orgs that give their money to us. Similar to BAMN in the usa. I wasn't involved in the money but their violence is definitely 100% being funded and should be looked into - except its canada and the gov protects left wing violence. (maybe directly funds it)
I think that leftism is obviously pushed hard af all over society here. That is why kids show up as new recruits, but obviously many are larping and many don't stay.
