Fashion Show –  High Society Magnagora – Holocene Gala

The Holocene Gala is a recurring fashion show held every 5 years in the Inevitable Empire of Magnagora, where up-and-coming design houses compete to impress the judges and parade their unique style and groundbreaking ideas in order to command the attention and respect of the social elites of the Engine, competing not only for accolades and couture supremacy, not only for the lavish prize money, but for honour of displaying their ensemble in the city’s Boutique right up until the moment the next winner is crowned.

The Holocene Gala should be a time for celebration, with invitations extended only to the nobility, where fine wines, the most delicate degustations, and idle chatter is expected to dominate the showroom floor until the show is set to begin – viscanti men and women adorned in their fashion cartel’s ensembles will glide through the room, greeting guests as they are drawn past every ranking member of the audience until they stand before the judge, or judges.

Members of the audience may offer bids to purchase the rights to the ensemble for the fashion season – no piece of the ensemble may be sold or created for anybody other than the winner of such an auction without legal ramifications. A fair division of this money should see 60% of the total awarded to the designers of the ensemble, divided fairly among them, 20% awarded to the model, and 20% awarded to the Ministry of Culture as thanks for their gracious ongoing patronage.

Judges will discuss points of merit to highlight particularly skilful pieces across any ensembles they believe are worthy of that merit, among such topics as Finest Headwear, Finest Garment,Finest Accessory. With these points in mind, as well as the highest bid on an ensemble, and in consideration of the thematic brief, the judge will select a winner as the Gala’s Choice.

Prizes will be awarded only to the winner, though every outfit may be auctioned during or after the Gala. Prizes for the winner include; 100 credits. Winning ensemble displayed in the Boutique until the following Gala. Names honoured in the news.
