  1. FAIRIES:
  2. Fairies are creatures born of spirits, and as some say, half-spirit themselves. They bear powerful magic, and all have wings. Male fairies have antenna.
  3. • Elementally Aligned: Fairies carry potent magic within their blood, so they choose 1d3+1 of the four basic elements of the world - Fire, Water, Earth, and Air - under their command. Their powers use the Arcane Skill: Fey Magic (Spirit).
  4. • Cold Iron Weakness: Fairies have only (Spirit) power points when touching or recently (within 1d6 days) wounded by cold iron.
  5. • Flight: All fairies have a set of intangible wings that they can fly with, at their base Pace.
  6. • Frail: Fairies are thin and weak, reducing their Toughness by -1.
  7.
  8. CHANGELING FAIRIES:
  9. Changelings are born of fairies, and carry the same magical power within their blood. They have smaller wings and antenna, and less broad elemental powers, but their magic is just as potent.
  10. • Elementally Aligned: Fairies carry potent magic within their blood, so they can choose 1d2 of the basic four elements of the world - Fire, Water, Earth, and Air - to draw their power from. Their powers use the Arcane Skill: Fey Magic (Spirit).
  11. • Cold Iron Weakness: Fairies have only (Spirit) power points when touching or recently (within 1d3 days) wounded by cold iron.
  12. • Flight: All fairies have a set of intangible wings that they can fly with, at half of their base pace.
  13.
  14. New Edges:
  15. • Fleet Flight (Changeling Fairy, Novice): The Changeling's flight speed is increased to full Pace.
  16. • Elemental Blessing (Fairy, Novice): The fairy gets an additional element added to their repertoire.
  17. • Surge of Power (Fairy or Changeling Fairy, Novice): Fairies gain an additional number of power points equal to their spirit, at the cost of one level of fatigue. Thus, a fairy could gain 4 power points if she has d4 spirit, or 8 power points if she has d8 spirit.
  18. • Words of the Spirits (Fairy or Changeling Fairy, Seasoned): A fairy can now use their Fey Magic (spirit) skill to learn how much PP a certain action costs.. A success in this skill allows them to learn how many tens of power points a spell requires, from 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, and so on. With a raise, will learn how many fives of power points a spell requires, from 0-5, 5-10, 10-15, and so on. With two raises, they will learn precisely how many points it requires.
  19.
  20. Arcane Background (Fey Magic)
  21. Arcane Skill: Fey Magic (Spirit)
  22. Starting Power Points: Spirit*4
  23. Starting Powers: Special (None)
  24. Fey magic is unique in that it has no actual 'powers', only the raw ability to choose one's goal. A fairie can simply choose something they can use their power for, as long as it is relevant to their elemental powers (Earth to create a wall, Water or Air to create a storm, Fire to heal wounds), but they have to pour the correct amount of energy into the spell or take drastic damage. When a character chooses to do something, they tell the GM, and the GM chooses a 'power requirement', but keeps it silent. Power Requirements can go up to and past twice as high as normal Powers, due to how much magic normally rushes through a fairies' body. The player then 'bids' a certain amount of power, all of which is spent on the spell.
  25.
  26. For every 5 PP above or below the power requirement of a certain fey spell, the fairy receives backlash depending on how far off their bid is. However, the spellcasting roll is used to mitigate the backlash. For each successful roll or Raise, the backlash is reduced, as if the fairy had bid five PP closer to the requirement. A failed Fey Magic roll always causes backlash, even if the bid was entirely accurate, but the spell is still effective.
  27.
  28. • Not Enough: When a fairy doesn't put enough power points into a spell, they get fatigued, and gain a Wound per five power points below the limit, as their lifeforce drains them. They can choose to soak, and in some cases, have to, else they would die. The magic still works, no matter what happens, and the power points are spent.
  29. • Too Much: When a fairy puts too many power points into a spell, they get Shaken (If over five points above the limit), and the additional power can have side-effects, at the GM's discretion, based on magnitude. The magic still works, no matter what happens, and the power points are spent.
