- Pokémon SoulSilver | Any% Glitchless FAQ
- Why do you keep resetting?
- 1) I missed the initial seed. This is a 1 frame trick at 30FPS, I will be able to tell by the NPC movement if I got it or not.
- 2) I messed up the manip path. If I mess up the manip path, it's rather likely I won't be able to continue the run and get Raikou.
- 3) I got an encounter. Encounters increase the RNG frame, I might reset after an encounter if the run is already bad, or I might try and keep it going to see if I can still get Raikou.
- 4) I died. Speaks for itself.
- 5) Run was too bad to warrant continuing. For example, tons of slow fights, hitting spinners etc.
- Why are you playing as the girl?
- - It's faster, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI1-PJ7Sy1w
- (Lyra's design is also awesome!)
- Why Cyndaquil?
- - Cyndaquil is by far the best option to complete the earlygame with in this game. Totodile loses its advantage in this game because of Sprout Tower being mandatory, as well as Bugsy leading with Scyther.
- What is the hardest fight?
- - Whitney.
- Why do you talk to Cyndaquil?
- - It advances RNG! It's pretty useful as it allows you to advance RNG past some encounters, and also gets you closer to the Pokerus frame, which means you have to run around in the grass a lot less!
- Raikou?
- - Raikou is the best and fastest pokemon to complete the game with. You can use the Radio Card before releasing Raikou to check your RNG value based on the Radio pokemon called out, and advance the RNG accordingly.
- Do you manipulate the location?
- - Yes! If you hit the target Raikou, you will always be at the same RNG frame. With consistent movement that's previously routed out, the Raikou will always jump to the route beneath Ecruteak.
- MASTER BALL?
- - Yes! Part of the seed searching process is ensuring that you can win the lottery in Goldenrod to catch Raikou. Otherwise you're dealing with trying to get it in a Fast Ball.
- IVs?
- - Cyndaquil: 4/23/21/28/5/31 (Rash)
- - Main Raikou: 17/23/17/27/20/28 (Modest)
- - Backup Raikou: 26/5/3/29/13/31 (Modest)
- Why are you playing Voltorb Flip...?
- - Because it's faster! The boards are manipulated to be the same provided the secondary RNG value is the same when entering the game. (For the purposes of the run, it only advances in the raining route before Azalea, so if your movement is perfect there you will always have the same boards.)
- Manipulation allows you to get a lot of coins, which in turn means you can buy an Abra and Dratini. Abras teleport allows you to skip the trainers above Goldenrod by going back to Violet, and Dratini means you don't need to catch Sentret or Lugia.
- This also allows you to get the Thunderbolt TM, which is a very good move which is 100% accurate. Previously we used Thunder, which obviously is stronger but comes with the 70% accuracy problem. TB means you don't need X Accuracies, saving time and money.
- Why are you playing on SoulSilver?
- - The difference between the two is less than 2 seconds if your movement is good. Whirl Islands are just slightly faster to get through, but you can complete runs on this route using either version.
- What is WR?
- - 3:32:05 by Rubentus
- What are the grades? (A+/A/B/C)
- - These are actually more for the benefit of the viewer, to see how good the segments were in my PB, with A+ being the best, and C being the worst. Shows easily that losing time to an A+ segment isn't that bad, but losing time against a C segment is really bad. It also allows viewers to see where I'm expected to be able to save large amounts of time.
