CHAPTER 5: Denial

"Never." Frisk slung their arms across their chest adamantly, a firm refusal. "I don't have the time or the urge to spend time with these 'Crystal Gems'."
Chara smiled bemusedly as Toriel smiled pleasantly. She never dropped her kind, motherly demeanour, Frisk noticed, and was immediately annoyed further.
"Child." Toriel picked Frisk up before they had time to process, and gave them a large hug. Almost despite themself, Frisk smiled briefly. At least no one had seen it.
Setting them back down, Toriel took a short breath before continuing. "It's been a while since the Barrier broke," she said. "And you've done a lot of hard work, and no one could do what you do better.
"But," she said sternly. "One night won't ruin everything. You should do this, Frisk. Make friends."
"I have friends," Frisk protested, but it didn't sound convincing, not even to their own ears. Toriel fixed her stare on them.
"Make a few Human friends," she insisted.
"…" Frisk really didn't want to, but Toriel had taken the wind out of their sails. As Chara sniggered, they drew themselves up. "Okay, fine."

Steven tapped his foot against the ground nervously, waiting. "What if Frisk doesn't want to come?" he asked Amethyst. She tore open a packet of potato chips, grabbing one and throwing it into her mouth. When she didn't respond, he yelled, "Amethyst!"
"What?" she said, obviously annoyed. "Dude, of course Frisk would want to come. Why wouldn't they?"
"I don't think Frisk likes me very much," Steven replied, leaning back. When Amethyst offered him a chip, he refused it, thinking.
That moment, the Warp pad streamed in, and Pearl appeared, causing Steven to jump and run over. "Pearl!" he yelped. She smiled at him. "Is Frisk coming over?"
Her smile faded immediately. "Oh…" as hiz hopes sank, Pearl said, almost sadly, "the Ambassador is coming over for dinner."
Steven jumped. But the next words were even better.
"And they're bringing a few Monster friends."

Well, that is Seven parts, with the Prologue and Interlude. Hopefully this story is fun, for everyone around. There are already questions, and problems will arise. Frisk has already freed Monsterkind. Steven liberated Gemkind across the galaxy. But both of them have their own problems.
