Shawl Crucible (Backstory and Description)

The Crucible family are minor nobles that own a fair amount of land near mountains rich with iron. At some point in the family's history, a relative had given birth to a child whose father was a fire elemental. This led to a long line of sorcerers with minor powers, generally preferring to run the mines and collect taxes rather than expand their magical repertoire. However, another long line in the family was a variety of physical deformities and mutations, as a result of some genetic flaw leading to true compatibility with the dominant Elemental bloodline.

Shawl Crucible was born as a hermaphrodite, appearing as a woman but possessing male and female genitalia, as well as stunted right pinkie finger and bone growths that pierce through the skin on her right arm. While capable of giving birth, it was determined she was incapable of impregnating. As this would be more detrimental to marriage than her brother's hump back and third eye, she was sent off to a sorcerer's school to learn to read, write, and focus on her craft as a caster. Long years of training finally paid off in her early thirties, and she left the school to learn through application rather than practice and study, settling in Vashindale after a short journey.

Shawl is tall for her species and sex, towering over most men, with a good amount of meat on her bones. She's more attractive with her clothes on rather than off, as she also has scars and burns on her hands and face from poor magic control. She's not athletic, from years of sitting and studying while eating four hearty square meals a day. Furthermore, as a regular cigar smoker, she coughs often, has a rough voice, and regularly hocks out a gooey load of phlegm. Her eyes are a plain brown, but her hair is seen as one of her better physical traits, being a golden yellow that grows thick and fast. She doesn't get excited or motivated by much, except from personal gain and advancement.

She likes wearing clothing with lots of room to move around inside to enable casting motions that keeps her at a comfortable temperature. She has ten of the same outfit, that being a brown robe that she wore over a long-sleeved tunic and a pair of overalls with wide and loose sleeves and legs, as well as a hat with a crooked, pointed top. She fights and defends herself with a wooden club made of hard wood, with a handle wrapped in cloth that was secured with two iron rings, as well as a light crossbow for safer engagement in combat.
