  1. Lism: The Hero of Liscor
  2. A Wandering-Inn-Fan-Fiction by MidniteLulz
  3.
  4. The dungeon explodes in a shower of monster viscera and flames, as Lism Swifttail leaps out onto the grass surrounding Liscor, carrying a body on his shoulders. He heaves forward and drops the ragged figure to the ground.
  5.
  6. "Let this be a lesson to you," Our hero declares, as Calruz, evil Minotaur and traitor, shakily gets to his hands and knees.
  7.
  8. "Curse you, Lism!" The Minotaur shouts. "I would have gotten away with my plot if not for you and your handsome strength."
  9.
  10. "Yes." replies Lism, working out casually, "But you didn't. And now you're going to pay for your crimes."
  11.
  12. "NOT SO FAST," a cackling voice declares, as Krshia Silverfang, untrustworthy and very rude shopkeeper appears on the scene, with 20 Antinium soldiers in tow.
  13.
  14. "I'm taking the Minotaur into custody on behalf of the Antinium Queen, who is my BFF." She announces, rubbing her hands together fiendishly.
  15.
  16. In the distance, Watch Captain Zevara cries silently. "We have to let her, Lism! It's for the security of Liscor."
  17.
  18. LIsm crosses his arms, muscles blowing in the breeze.
  19.
  20. "We don't need to rely on the Antinium and their schemes," he explains, "We can overcome any threat if we just stick together and fight with the power of Drakes!"
  21.
  22. Zevara shakes her head sadly, "No, I don't believe in that. Krshia, take away the Minotaur."
  23.
  24. Lism watches as Krshia and her Antinium thugs departs, Minotaur in tow. The Minotaur laughs as he leaves. "Looks like I win this round, Swifttail!"
  25.
  26. Lism shook his fist at the procession as they left. "I won't stand for this!" He declared, and started to follow them, when suddenly Olesm ran up to him!
  27.
  28. "Father!" Olesm shouted, "The humans are attacking again!"
  29.
  30. ---
  31.
  32. Olesm looks up, staring at the eager young drake, who is wringing his hands and watching expectantly. He shuffles the papers a bit in his hands and clears his throat thoughtfully.
  33.
  34. "It's... certainly unique. I do have... at least one correction. Olesm is actually my uncle, not my father." He explains, politely.
  35.
  36. "Oh, I can fix that." The young drake replies emphatically, "Just keep reading, you haven't gotten to the good part yet!"
  37.
  38. "Oh... I haven't. Alright, then..." Olesm said, weakly.
  39.
  40. ---
  41.
  42. Outside of Liscor, Lord Tyrion stood atop his Trebuchet.
  43.
  44. "Lism Swifttail! So, you've finally shown your face!" He growled, pointing menacingly in the direction of Liscor's walls, upon which stood Lism, heroically and bravely and heroically.
  45.
  46. "Get thee gone, human!" Lism shouts defiantly. "These walls are built with DRAKE INGENIUTY, and they shall never fall!"
  47.
  48. Lord Tyrion cackles, and points at a part of the wall.
  49.
  50. "Oh, but Silverfang has told me of the weakness of your wall! She's let the ANTINIUM build that section!"
  51.
  52. Shocked, Lism spins to see a part of the wall, built of driftwood and twigs. A cold sweat forms as Tyrion throws a rock at the wall, and it starts to collapse.
  53.
  54. "NO!" Lism shouts in fury and anger.
  55.
  56. "Don't worry!" a voice cries out, as Olesm Swifttail, heroic strategist of Liscor, appears on the scene. He waves his hands at the wall as it is collapsing.
  57.
  58. "[Better Walls!]" he shouts, activating his skill. The wall instantly becomes brick instead, and stops falling.
  59.
  60. Tyrion growls in frustration, as he gestures to his armies.
  61.
  62. "WE SHALL MEET YOU IN BATTLE, THEN!" He announces. Lism leaps from the wall, grinning a smile.
  63.
  64. ---
  65.
  66. Olesm nods thoughtfully, eyes betraying nothing, as he flips through about 12 more pages of increasingly more energetic handwriting.
  67.
  68. "Hm."
  69.
  70. The young drake nods appreciatively as Olesm flips through a few more pages.
  71.
  72. "Long fight scene." Olesm idly comments.
  73.
  74. "Yeah, I really wanted to build off of the established character of Lism, you know, the parts the people are familiar with," the young author explains.
  75.
  76. Olesm nods slowly. "Like... his [10000 Claw Crimson Shining Barrage]?" He asks.
  77.
  78. "Mhm!"
  79.
  80. Olesm glances back down at the script, and continues reading.
  81.
  82.
  83. ---
  84.
  85. "Nnngh... you're... pretty tough!" Tyrion declares, panting with exertion.
  86.
  87. Lism, slightly bruised, nods back to him, on top of a pile of 10,000 dead human [Soldiers].
  88.
  89. "But, you haven't seen my FINAL MOVE!" Tyrion shouts, pulling out a wand, which fires a beam of pure death energy directly towards Lism.
  90.
  91. "FATHER, NO!" Olesm shouts, leaping into the beam's path. The beam strikes him in the chest, and he collapses to the ground, instantly dead.
  92.
  93. "NO!" Lism shouts, punching Tyrion's head off completely. He leans down and cradles Olesm's body.
  94.
  95. "Father..." Olesm says weakly, looking up at him. "You have to... win the election... Krshia's evil plan... can't come to fruition."
  96.
  97.
  98. "I will." Lism promises, "But I won't do it alone." He reaches deep into his wallet, and activates his ultimate skill.
  99.
  100. "[Power of Money!]" he shouts, and a light engulfs Olesm, restoring him to full strength and aliveness.
  101.
  102. Olesm stands up, bewildered and surprised. "Come on, son." Lism says, extending his claw.
  103.
  104. Inside the Antinium hive, Krshia is plotting with the Queen and Calruz.
  105.
  106. "Then, we take all the good wall, and sell it to the humans, and keep the money!" She says.
  107.
  108. "KKKKKKKKKKKKKK" The queen buzzes, or something.
  109.
  110. "I also like this plan because it is evil like me," Calruz whispers conspiratorily.
  111.
  112. Suddenly, the door bursts in, and Lism and Olesm arrive on the scene.
  113.
  114. "Stop right there!" He shouts.
  115.
  116. Krshia howls in anger, "LISM! YOU'RE TOO LATE."
  117.
  118. "No." Lism disagrees, pulling out his crossbow. He shoots Krshia, who collapses, revealing she was secretly a human all along!
  119.
  120. "Wait..." Calruz says, cowering, "I was under a spell, I'm not actually evil! Have a mercy!"
  121.
  122. Lism shakes his head. "Mercy is for the weak." He says, and shoots Calruz in the face as well.
  123.
  124. Finally, it's just the evil Antinium Queen and Lism left.
  125.
  126. "YOUR CROSSBOW WON'T WORK ON ME!" She challenges, "I AM IMMUNE TO CROSSBOWS."
  127.
  128. Lism merely chuckles. "That's why I brought two."
  129.
  130. Lism pulls out his second Crossbow and fires both at the Antinium Queen, who dies instantly.
  131.
  132. "NOOOOOooOOOOOO!" She shouts, melting.
  133.
  134. Lism goes back out of the hive, which explodes too.
  135.
  136. "I saved Liscor" He declares.
  137.
  138. "Yes" Says Liscor.
  139.
  140. Then everybody was happy, and Lism was elected to the Council.
  141.
  142. ELECT LISM SWIFTTAIL COUNCIL TODAY
  143.
  144. ---
  145.
  146. Olesm sets the story down, definitively, on the table.
  147.
  148. "What did you think?" The young drake asks, eagerly.
  149.
  150. "W-well..." Olesm begins, hesitantly, "I'm not sure if it's quite the same direction we wanted to plan for my uncle's campaign. But, thank you for submitting it, Bizzus"
  151.
  152. "Oh..." Bizzus murmurs, "It's not any good, huh?"
  153.
  154. Olesm waves his hands frantically, "Uh, well, it's not, uh, it's not that it's not good..." He stutters over his words a bit, "It's just that the direction, and uh, in the climate of the city, and..."
  155.
  156. Bizzus stares down at the paper, eyes tearing up quietly.
  157.
  158. Olesm scratches at his jaw with a claw. "Uh... that is to say... I think it might... be too good?"
  159.
  160. At this, Bizzus looks up, confused.
  161.
  162. "Too good?"
  163.
  164. Olesm clears his throat. "Y-yeah, we don't want to overwhelm the public, you know? Plus it would make the rest of the campaign by comparison..."
  165.
  166. Olesm stared down at the script on the table, "Uh... seem too different?"
  167.
  168. The author nods, slowly.
  169.
  170. "But, um, thank you. For bringing it in." Olesm finishes, weakly. "I'll show it to Lism, and let you know what he thinks of it."
  171.
  172. Bizzus' mood improves instantly, and he nods emphatically.
  173.
  174. "I'm sure he'll like it!" He says, full of hope.
  175.
  176. Olesm picks up the script and rereads a line or two. "Um, he... yeah, he probably will."
  177.
  178. "Thank you, Mr. Olesm!" Bizzus says, tail twitching with excitement, "I can't wait for Olesm to be on the council."
  179.
  180. Bizzus exits the room, while Olesm tries his best to keep up his smile, waving goodbye.
  181.
  182. ---
  183.
  184. A few days later, the Council of Liscor was meeting to discuss the elections. The votes had been tallied, but the envelope had not yet been opened, and the Council was staring at it as if it might leap up and bite them, which it certainly would, at least in a metaphorical sense.
  185.
  186. "So... the results of the election... Gnolls on the council."
  187.
  188. "Unconventional, to be sure, but we must put the desires of the people first."
  189.
  190. "As unfortunate as it may be to think about being voted out, I, for one, am happy to see some change."
  191.
  192. A few other members quietly murmur their agreeance.
  193.
  194. The council stared at the envelope, until one of them leaned forward, and pulled some papers from a bag.
  195.
  196. "Ah, right. Incidentally, have any of you seen this before?"
  197.
  198. The Council member held up a sheaf of paper, which read "Lism: Hero of Liscor."
  199.
  200. "Somebody left it in my mailbox."
  201.
  202. The paper made its way around the room, as each member read it in turn, thankful for the distraction. By the time it had finished making the rounds, the council was all nodding. Some were in tears.
  203.
  204. "It reminds you of what makes this city great." One sighs.
  205.
  206. "I agree. I feel like I had forgotten, until just now."
  207.
  208. "Lism-san..." A sobbing voice whispered.
  209.
  210. "Yes... now, these... election results..." One remarked sourly.
  211.
  212. The nearest council member opened the envelope, and dumped the tally onto the table. There was silence as the Council pored over the results, and then:
  213.
  214. “Well. It’s not…bad. Two of our own won.”
