OKAY WELL this cut is really good you touch on a lot of the parts of kyoko i love. shes my favorite character in the series for a trillion reasons but i literally cant properly articulate why so the more kyoko writeups the better. i will try to add a fww of my thoughts here

her design is really cool i think. purple is my favorite color and a lot of her motif is purple which i really like, like eye color and kinda hair color (ik its supposed to be more silver tho). her jacket is really good and i love how she always has a tie on. the gloves need not be mentioned cuz thats a really cool part of her character. i wont lie idk why she doesnt wear proper pants/a jacket with pockets bc shes a detective... maybe theres pockets on the inside of the jacket. her boots make me want her to step on me, A+. and the skirt is cute - always need kyoko thighs in my life bro. cute hairstyle and a ribbon she kept from when she was young heh

ahh her introduction is really cool i totally agree she sets you up immediately to be intrigued and want to know more. hiding her talent the way they did was kinda fucking stupid lol but after going thru so many introductions, seeing a character with just "Ultimate ???" was REALLY cool and immediately i was like "Pog???! who dis?????". some of her first words are basically telling the remaining students to stfu and get to the gym, and that combined with coming into the dining hall late carrying a map of the school was like WHOA this lady is cool. her performance at the end of trial 1 has been talked to death but i absolutely love it as well - shes shown so far to be a no bullshit, focused and serious girl, but she takes the time to help makoto through a super troubling time and soften the blow as much as possible. she shows her humanity and empathy but its not in a way where its like "AWW SHES SECRETLY A HEART OF GOLD SO PRECIOUS" but more like "wow she really knows her way around people". she remains analytical and focused but she clearly has more beneath that exterior and it is shown so early on

chapter 2 not too much to comment on. byakuya steals us for the investigation and we do get some comparison between him and kyoko considering she was a bit of a help in makoto's room in ch1. both clearly know what theyre doing but kyoko is much more,,, professional. it feels like byakuya just wants to flex on makoto with his big dick knowledge while kyoko wishes to aid makoto - especially because she likely already figured most of the ch1 story by now. also i totally picked up on mondo calling chihi "dude" and it's really cool that she did as well and secretly incorporated it into the trial in that way.

chapter 3 is when kyoko truly begins to divulge from the rest of the cast. her comandeering of the alter ego conversations is cool though, it begins to show her determination to figure out everything about HPA but not in a way anyone will pick up on. at first it just seems like shes as focused as usual but looking back it's clear she wanted full control the first opportunity she saw to unravel as much as she could about the place. her notorious reaction to the news of the mastermind also shows some more of her emotion beneath her exterior. i forgot everything about ch3 murder and her involvement because that fucking sucked but oh well. cool how she didnt jump on the hiro blame train immediately, also cool how she picked up on hifumis schemin. very cool.

FUCK AAA i dont remember the tiemline of any of makoto and kyoko's Late Night AnticsTM but they happen!! i like how shes clearly taken to makoto by this point but theres no like "uwu naegi kun ~~" cuz she just realizes his capabilities as someone who can understand a lot and still try to stay positive. dudes down for anythinf with a bit of nudging and it really helps her to have an accomplice like that. god fuck i really cant remember when anything happens though. i think for now they just have bath house discussions.

chapter 4!!! this is where dr1 goes from great to fucking awesome and imo every single remaining character contributes to this including kyoko. this is really where the surviving cast starts to shine because besides sakura theyre the only ones left. but one extremely important kyoko related thing happens here and it's of course makoto's secret!! i wish i couldve told kyoko i really do

i did make a comment about this moment a few weeks back in r/dr but to summarize i do kinda like how shes legitimately a hypocrite here. she has a shitload of knowledge on the school that makoto doesnt, but makoto withholds one secret and she gets mad. and she stays that way, or so it seems, all the way until sakura's death. but i dont think she really does - she gets along with makoto without a hiccup during the investigation, despite avoiding him all chapter long. i think she got over it quickly, realized she was being super irrational, but she didnt have the heart to face makoto again. shes good at knowing others' emotions but she shows that she maybe doesnt have the best grasp on her own - look back to the mastermind alter ego thing in ch3. she had a rough upbringing where she learned to steel herself from the outside world, and her analytical mind lends her well to figuring out others' emotions but the lack of interaction for a long time led to her never getting the best grasp on her own, and i think its shown here really well. she is a hypocrite but its not just out of the blue it makes a lot of sense given her character, and it makes sense too that, when she knew it was necessary to collaborate with makoto again, she does so without any problem. she just needed the push to be able to talk to him again. admittedly she doesnt do a whole lot during the trial i dont think - this one is mainly dominated by aoi and byakuya, and its fucking incredible, so zero complaints.

after the trial we get some more kyoko and makoto fun time i think!!! sakura busts down the headmasters door and kyoko knows because shes kyoko. so she enlists makoto once again. kyoko gets to the room and steals the key and some intel on mukuro and ult despair which she spills to him later in a positively legendary scene. top 5 moments in the series what an iconic moment honestly. later they do bath house thigs, CENSORED TO CONFORM TO LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL CENSORSHIP LAWS. importantly - she unlocks the second floor.

OKAY SO I JUST REMEMBERED THE ALTER EGO THING first of all makoto finds out about the hidden passage and gets BONKed in the head and all the files are gone woe is me. but cool kyoko was already giving him an edge!! epic. next they set up alter ego. she knew it was risky as fuck and im sure she was a bit attached to the computer as well for being so helpful but her drive to discover more about the school was first and foremost. then he died RIP alter ego..... someone should alter ego him but he got excavator's unlucky dude.

i totally have this timeline all fucked up right,

CHAPTER 5!! byakuya takes kyokos key because no talent boo hoo. so she just fucking dips lmao. shes exploring dont worry but makoto doesnt know until junko tries to fucking kill him!' and then kyoko hears rhe god of death or some shit and saves his life. thanks kyoko would you mind having sex witj me now? but she doesnt oblige, she just leaves. unlucky. now junko kills mukuro but in such a way that she can blame either makoto or kyoko but hopefully kyoko that girls a bitch lol

ch5 trial is cool!! it's a really interesting idea, two people going bakc and forth accusing each other knowing neither is the culprit. kyoko is REALLY aggressive rhough and it makes her seem like an asshole but shes just really fucking dedicated and i think that's cool. shes willing to throw away a really meaningful relationship she has with makoto in order to guarantee her survival. thats dedication babey!! she akso showed off her hands to the group which adds to this aspect of her - she really is determined as fuck to unravel the truth here. she knows she has to condmen makoto but it's really sad and she makes it clear afterwards that it wasnt her favorite choice to make. he trusts in her and she trusts in him but it's all wrong and now he's gonna die for it. and i think in his final moments she really feels regret for how this situation had to turn out. rest in peace makoto naegi.

chapter 6 starts out really bizarrely and i fucking loved it. makotos like "WAHH WAHH IM GONNA DIEEEEE" and im like "oh fuck maybe he will lmao" but then a trash bag falls down. i was kinda excited for the return of the legendary trash duty but i was SUPER excited when it rurned out to be kyoko kirigiri in the goddamn flesh. WITH A NOODLE CUP ON HER HEAD!!! ive never watched the anime but an animated gif of her flicking the cup off of her head has been my discord profile picture for over 7 months now. anywho we're given a fucking huge rundown on everything thats happened but it doesnt rly feel like an exposition dump given the character its coming from - someone who has a lot of knowledge and a lot of guilt and is talking to the person she thinks has the means to end this with her. she clearly has a better grasp on emotion here than chapter 4 i think and she probably sees makoto as a legitimate friend at this point, someone to fully trust - he risked his goddamn life for her. so they return and she decides to hit up some terms with our old boy monokuma. all bets are off. it's go time babey.

her dad's room. she is very standoffish about this place. she doesn't like it. she knows theres a hidden door but she can't possibly think of a password... unless it's.... no. it couldn't be, right? but makoto does it anyway and bada bing bada boom kyokos in limbo. her relationship with her father is neat - how he wanted the best for her and truly cherished him but she fucking hated him anyway. her hate was so strong that she came to HPA just to dunk on the guy. she thought she had it all figured out she thought he never cared for her, but she was wrong, she made a lapse in judgement. she asks makoto to leave.

ch6 trial is mostly makoto vs junko but its cool how shes the last one to be convinced to join the side of hope during that one nonstop debate. but they won!! they fuckin won dude cool. my memory of this part is hazy as all hell in case it wasnt obvious hee hoo.

epilogue is cool and epic. face your future and make the best of it kiddos. naegiri is canon

overall your cut was really good and went more in depth on her characterization than i could ever hope, i think my summary of the ending of dr1 was way too short but i started to realize this comment is bullshit length. im so sorry ive been waiting a long time to spill my thoughts on kyoko but it's too much to make a whole post about it that's so scary my writing fucking sucks dude lmao hhhhhh good cut thanks donut man. if shes getting cut it may as well be mercy. please step on me kyoko kirigiri.
