  2. >And the weeks into months
  3. >And the months into years
  4. >Throughout those years, to stayed by Celestia's and Luna's side, being the stalwart and dependable advisor you had been groomed to become
  5. >Your apperance became more and more sage like, your beard growing long and grey, your clothing becoming old and threadbare
  6. >You always kept your hat with you, and refused to have it replaced
  7. >It had to repaired and patched often, making it's apperance look somewhat comical
  8. >But throughout the years of your service, you kept it, as a reminder of what you've been through
  9. >And you've been through quite a lot
  10.
  11. >Humans, it turns out, lived a bit longer than ponies
  12. >This was something you had known ever since you got here, and it was something you thought you would be ready to deal with
  13. >But death is something we never really prepare for, something we don't want to think about it
  14. >The reality of it came to you when Rainbow Dash died
  15. >She was still young when it happened, which made it the worst
  16. >She had gotten into the Wonderbolts, and she had one last preformance to do
  17. >A final Sonic Rainboom before her retirement
  18. >It was her last act in this world
  19. >Live fast and die hard, you supposed
  20.
  21.
  22. >Pinkie Pie was next on the list
  23. >All those baked goods had taken a toll on her insides, especially as she got older
  24. >She still thought she could party hard as she was when she was younger, but her body couldn't handle it
  25. >She became less and less animated, but still had that infectious happiness about her
  26. >She was hospitialized after taking a nasty spill at one of her more wild parties
  27. >She knew her time was up, and no one wanted to admit it
  28. >The Cakes were a bit angry that she was going before them, and Carrot and Pound cake her crying a river, not wanting to see Auntie Pinkie go
  29. >But she told them she had a good run, and wouldn't have it any other way
  30. >She died peacefully, in the middle of the night
  31. >There was a note by her hospital bed, saying that she wanted her funeral to be a party
  32. >It was one of the best parties you went too
  33. >But it still paled in comparison to Pinkie's 'Super Awesome 1st Aniversery Party!' she threw for you
  34.
  35. >Applejack, in all her stubbornness, was still alive, but only just
  36. >She would kick the bucket any day now
  37. >It seemed to run in the family that the females of the Apple clan lived unnutally long
  38. >Sweet Appleacres was still going strong, now under the reigns of Applebloom
  39. >Rarity had found success in her fashion career, her styles now syndicated all across Canterlot and Manehatten
  40. >Sweetie Belle got married to Snipes, and the two of them took the world by storm with their unorthodox styles and fashion sense
  41. >Fluttershy disappeared one day into the Everfree Forest after releasing all of her animals and selling all of her possessions
  42. >She was never seen again
  43. >But they say that fillies lost in the Forest are guided by a kind, soft voice that seemed to come from the forest itsef
  44. >Scootaloo told you about a strange tree she saw with pink leaves when she was flying over the Everfree
  45. >You couldn't help but smile at that
  46.
  47. >Twilight was a strange case
  48. >Each death of her friends took her closer to insanity and depression
  49. >She became suicidal, wanting to be with her friends again no matter what
  50. >You told her that would be the exact opposite of what they wanted
  51. >They would want you to live a happy, long life and find new friends, but not to forget about them
  52. >You weren't sure if she took these words to heart, but you didn't hear much from Twilight
  53. >She became reclusive and withdrawn from soceity, writing letters to Celestia, Shining Armor and her parents
  54. >They were the only sort of friends they had left
  55. >But soon time took it's course, and the latter two were struck down
  56. >Twilight was desperate, knowing her time was coming as well
  57. >Celestia had seen this coming, and offered immortality to her, charging her with protecting and distributing the Elements of Harmony to ponies who are deserving of them
  58. >She accepted, and stands vigil in the Canterlot Tower
  59. >She seemed to be but a shell of her former self, becoming cold and distant, not wanting to form relationships with anyone, lest she became pained by their inevitable demise
  60. >She rarely left unless ordered too or if there was a special occassion
  61. >Which was why she was in your hospital room right now
  62.
  63. >You wereresting upon the hospital bed, your hat on your stomach, and Celestia's head on your chest
  64. >Luna was looking out the window, and Twilight was there was well, showing little to no emotion
  65. >You stroked Celestia's etheral mane, delighting in it's feeling
  66. >You had been in the hospital for some time, on Celestia's orders when she saw your health deteriorating in your old age
  67. >Your movements were slower and your vision and hearing was lessened
  68. >You were thankful for some of the paraells in Pony medicine to human medicine, but that could only keep you sustained for so long
  69. >It was becoming harder and harder to wake up each day, and Celestia could see it
  70. >She would visit you every day, trying to keep your spirits up
  71. >You insisted that you could still do something for her, fill out some paperwork or something, but she insisted you rested
  72. >You hated being so useless, but it couldn't be helped
  73. >Maybe she knew you were going to go soon, and she wanted your final days to be peaceful
  74. >You've already done so much for them, as it is.
  75.
  76.
  77. >You sigh, pondering something as you rest your hand on Celestia's head.
  78. 'It's been so long, hasn't it. . .'
  79. >'Almost 100 years.' She said, quietly. 'Longer than any of my little ponies have been with me. . .'
  80. 'Heh. . .wish I could have made it 100 more. . .'
  81. >'But the immortality spell won't work on you.' She said, completing your thoughts for you.
  82. 'Heh. . .humans have often said, 'Who wants to live forever?' I would, if I were to spend it. . .with you three.'
  83. >You let out a sigh, as the room starts to fade from your vision
  84. >Celestia's face is one of shock at first, but then one of sadness as tears well up in her eyes
  85. 'Hhhhh. . .it's getting dark. . .The sunset must be. . .coming early today.'
  86. >The other two immortals look over at you, their expressions saddening.
  87. 'Sunsets. . .were always pretty. But I always. . .liked sunrises more.'
  88. >You chuckle bitterly
  89. 'It seems funny. . .my sun. . . is setting as well. . .'
  90. >You looked to Celestia, whipping a stray tear from her eye.
  91. 'Be strong, Celestia. You must. . .lead your people. You have done it without me. . .hhh. . .If you mess up, I'm going to claw my way. . .out of Tartarus to fix your mistakes.'
  92. >She smiles, but you can tell she's heartbroken
  93. >You close your eyes, and sigh.
  94. 'Keep me in your hearts. . .I'll be immortal if you always. . .remember me. . .'
  95. >You draw your terminal breath, and darkness engulfs you
  96.
  97.
  98. >Within the Canterlot Gardens, there was a statue
  99. >It depicted a strange, hairless apelike creature who word long flowing robes and had a massive wizard like hat
  100. >The brim of the hat was so large, it provided shade to the area around it, and was a favorite place of students to read and study
  101. >On the base of the statue was a plaque, made out of shiny brass and it was guided ornately
  102. >The words on the plaque read. . .
  103. 'In loving memory of Grand Adviser Anonymous AKA Big Hat
