  1. Plan:
  2. Introduction:
  3. • From the perspective of an old drill sargent/war vet? (maybe assembly of a high official giving lecture?)
  4. • They’re speaking to newly recruited/trained personnel (future regulators), vet states that what he’s about to say is highly classified and must be only known by the regulators (public is kept un-aware of these natures? In order to keep the veil of normalcy on-going?)
  5. • Said classified material is an old tale, passed down from generation to generation (vet had it passed down to him, and his predecessor and so on)
  6. • Tale is about the formation of Strayan Republic, sequential birth of the Regulatores (were simply called “Legion of Judas” back then), and creation of the “Fertile City-State of Keller”
  7. Plot/Synopsis:
  8. • First thousand years post-aster
  9. • Humanity in the ruins of straya live in small societial “pockets” across the land, a good chunk of the majority live underground (for fear of the occult above)
  10. • There was little in the way of protection from the occult, most took to hiding from these and only fought as a last resort. None of the humans went hunting for occult.
  11. • In the end; the people only fought out of necessity and survival
  12. • Enter: The Djinn, fearsome elementals/demons hailing from a far western land.
  13. • Motive: Djinn believe Solomon (gigga chad, pretty much dominated their kind constantly throughout myth) to have fled here.
  14. • They come to believe the residing humans are “the children of Solomon”, from this conclusion they proceed to ethnically cleanse the human population as an act of “retribution”
  15. • This campaign is headed by the “Efreet”, they hunger for war and have a personal vendetta/hatred towards all of man. The “Marid” deal with the technical/admin aspects of the campaign; all other types being a variety of roles
  16. • The humans are losing, and are dwindling in number. Many diplomats/messengers have been sent in order to conceive a truce of sort; each of them being fully ignored and subsequently slaughtered in the process. The Djinn are fully determined with their mission.
  17. • All seems lost, the surviving have retreated to the east coast of straya, hiding in the area formally Sydney.
  18. • An individual only known as “Judas” is spurned by the death of his father, goes to embark on a journey to find salvation for his people.
  19. • He hears of a “timeless witch” that was said to be “from another world”
  20. • He begs said witch to give him and his kin a way to defeat the djinn. She grants his wishes, but warns “in protecting your home and banishing those who would attempt to destroy your kin; you will grow to gain affinity and analogue from these creatures of myth who so devoutly despise your very being. The ruinous powers henceforth gained on this day will ultimately destroy you, fate has decreed this.” Judas accepts this premonition no matter the cost; he will protect his family and kind.
  21. • Many months follow; the humans are on the edge of defeat, all the djinn need is one final push to eradicate them fully.
  22. • Enter: the champion. Judas appears, he has returned with a legion of fierce followers.
  23. • Judas and his brethren have gained unimaginable power (ideas: Control over the elements, reverse possession of the occult, altercation of reality towards their own preferences, etc..), they effortlessly decimate the djinn. What follows is a year long battle where the djinn are pushed back to the west coast
  24. • The surviving djinn have no choice but to flee, those that did not fled were either killed, went in hiding, or sealed away by Judas. (ironically; the actions of Judas somewhat mirror the actions of King Solomon, maybe can go somewhere with this?)
  25. • Judas and co rejoice; overtime, construction of a city-state that spans from Cairns to Sydney begins (these locations obviously don’t exist in this time period anymore, they just exist in the same physical space). This megacity is bordered by a gigantic wall with anomalous properties; the wall has the ability to deny any occult or supernatural concepts/entities to exist within the city, the downside to this is judas and co being unable to use their abilities and are thus rendered mortal (important, VERY important). The city is named after the father of Judas (keller)
  26. • After these events, what follows is a short period of peace (maybe 5 years I dunno?) with little to no occult incursions (as Judas just fucking kills them all or either wills them out of existence)
  27. • The premonitions of the witch begin to manifest; Judas and co become more draconian and inhuman of their manners, they see the rest of humanity as something beneath them
  28. • Judas and co begin to abuse their powers, many mortal men and woman alike are tortured by the ramificating corruption of these saviors. Without order, societal collapse is imminent.
  29. • Judas and his followers soon turn on each other, civil war between them occurs. A follower called Humeth realizes the ramification of his and judas actions, he decides the only way to restore peace is by killing judas.
  30. • A great struggle occurs between judas and humeth, humeth takes advantage of their location (within the wall borders; they’re both mortal) and kills both himself and judas via impaling themselves upon the spear of a statue (statue being deistic avatar of Straya; a tribal hunter/gatherer with a long-spear in his right hand, and the head of a manticore in his left)
  31. • From this point on, a new group is formed far detached from Judas; the regulatores.
  32. • They enact a set of commandments that every reg must follow, with an example being “Thou shalt not use magic” and “Thou shalt not act in the likeness of myth”
  33. • The regulatores instead focus on technological transhumanism rather than that of magic.
  34. • The narrating vet ends this tale with a warning; humans and myth are both unequal to each other, a fusion of both would surely result in our species demise.
