  1. 3:22 - That is double rocket. By doing a rocket and pausing while Mario (or Luigi) has rocketed while still being grounded, after unpausing, you can rocket again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGPXDABFYQY this video should explain the trick in a bit more detail)
  2.
  3. 7:17 - Oh, trust me, the movement standards nowadays makes this seem like nothing. Especially in BTT, which I'll get to after replying to every single timestamp lol
  4.
  5. 8:21 - Thanks, i guess. Im kinda flattered by this one tbh.
  6.
  7. 8:44 - That's true. Exit Levels were used quite a bit, but now, Quit Games are in the runs as well (they weren't back when I did this run)
  8.
  9. 9:45 - That is EoS, by collecting a Shine, ana then exiting course before landing, you technically have collected the shine, BUT that counter doesn't update. You can remedy this by collecting another shine the intended way, or quitting game.
  10.
  11. 10:15 - Thank You!
  12.
  13. 10:56 - LLL is a pretty cool stage design wise, I can't exactly argue against that. Actually grinding the level though, is an entirely separate matter.
  14.
  15. 11:05 - Um, that lava bounce was entirely accidental, and in fact had no benefits. It just simply lost time over not taking dmaage there. I think you might be confusing this for what happens at 11:40, which is actually an intentional lava boost.
  16.
  17. 11:41 - No, I think you explained it pretty well. Only minor nitpick though, is it didn't get patched in 2012, but that's irrelevant anyways, since this run is done on the 2009 version.
  18.
  19. 12:47 - Yeah, that double rocket was to skip the section of green bullet bills on the right of that. There is a faster way of doing it, which does a double jump instead of a double rocket
  20.
  21. 13:24 - Yeah, even today, I still die a lot there :/ Easy to lose a full minute there
  22.
  23. 13:58 - There isn't even a glitch happening at this timestamp lol
  24.
  25. 14:26 - Yeah, I use that turbo dive in various sections throughout the run. Most notably, Red Coins 3 in Bowser 3 Reds
  26.
  27. 15:25 - Yeah, lmao, this was probably the closest thing we had to FLUDD Preserve in Early 2019 (tied with FLUDD in Bowser 3)
  28.
  29. 15:52 - Oh, trust me, Bowser 2 Reds without FLUDDs is VERY slow. Sekanor's old 100% runs from 2014 perfectly demonstrate exactly what I'm talking about
  30.
  31. 16:29 - I definitely didn't use an optimal route at all, mostly because nobody ran this category back then (only Dignity has ran it even today, and possibly Vertic in the future). Luigi in places like WDW and BM doesn't seem fast lmao
  32.
  33. 16:56 - Luigi's walk speed helps with gaining slightly more height from a triple jump. However, you can't walk for too long, otherwise you'll just get a single jump
  34.
  35. 17:43 - Yeah, that's huge in All Star Coins. In other categories like 100%, there's a very fast backup that only loses 3 seconds over getting the star coin the first time
  36.
  37. 18:51 - Yeah, this route to enter King Boo is multiple years old. Except not with luigi lol
  38.
  39. 20:05 - The reason I updated the shine counter here was to unlock Tidal Isles, which has a star coin (notice I collected an extra shine here, as you only need 5, but I had 6). Also, that pause was entirely because of muscle memory from EoSing pretty much every other shine I didn't shine cancel. It didn't save any time, in fact it lost a second because of the animation
  40.
  41. 21:34 - That's absolutely brutal in All Star Coins. However, like the Star Coin in WDW, it doesn't lose nearly as much in 100%, because you can just collect the Basement Red Coins while you're there anyway, and not go back as you would..
  42.
  43. 26:46 - Yeah, these jumps are entirely obsoleted by FLUDD Preserve shenanigans. I'll explain what that and BTT is after replying to the rest of these timestamps. There are a lot of them, but there's only 3 more left, so I'll get to them soon.
  44.
  45. 27:20 - That Triple Jump Rocket Dive only works like that as Luigi. If you try to do the same thing as Mario, you won't be getting any upwards speed, instead, you'll shoot straight down (and left/right depending on which direction you're facing).
  46.
  47. 28:56 - This works similarly to the Pause Buffer Lava boost you explained in the 11:41 timestamp. You gain the height from a triple jump for each pause until Luigi's position changes. Note that you can't actually do the same with Mario
  48.
  49. 29:19 - If you're talking about the fly guys, they make you spin and slow you down quite a lot, so you definitely don't want to do that.
  50.
  51. Aright, now that I replied to every single timestamp, which took me nearly a full hour, I'm ready to answer what I meant by FLUDD Preserve and BTT when I mentioned them earlier
  52.
  53. FLUDD Preserve is a trick discovered on December 2019. The game updates what course you're in whenever you enter a new level. So, for example, Exiting Level will update that variable to the Castle Grounds. However, if you Quit Game instead, that variable will NOT update, meaning the game will still think you're in that course. FLUDD Preserve can take advantage of this in two different ways. The first, is to collect FLUDDs in a stage and then Quit Game. Once you reload the file and press Shift, you'll find that you have all the FLUDDs you originally collected in that stage, because the game still thinks you are in that stage. Moreover, you can enter any secret in the game, and still keep those FLUDDs, since it was never intended tot be able to go from a course straight to a castle secret without the game updating to Castle Grounds first, which was fixed in 2012. The second method of FLUDD Preserve would be to enter a stage, immediately quit game, collect FLUDDs in, lets say R&T room, and then Exit Level. The FLUDDs you collected in the Castle saved to that course since the game thought you were there until after you exited level.

  55. As of BTT, the sm63 community has been working on Segmented Speedruns for each of the three main categories. All three of them have videos on YouTube, but the only one that is even remotely close to up to date is the Any% one (5:58.867 which has only been improved by 1.4 seconds since.
