  1. Green Pepper FAQ
  2. Q: What's Green Pepper, and what's different about this version?
  3. A: I think it's some German publisher or something, and it's through them that the official German PC release of Vice City was made. It's a Haitian-friendly version of the game, meaning that the same instapasses are doable as on the Japanese version. However, there are no rampages, and the missions Dirty Lickin's and Messing with the Man have been cut. Needless to say, it greatly affects speedruns of 100% (and other categories, too)
  4.
  5. Boomer fact: this is the version on which the Distribution instapass was first found in early 2015 by Patrick_SDA, which led to speculation of the existence of other Haitian-friendly versions of the game and eventually the Japanese version becoming a thing. I did a proof-of-concept run by using an international no-CD EXE on the Green Pepper version to enable rampages, and easily got a run (57:12, see https://youtu.be/8nBAhopjTqo) that beat the WR at the time (57:48).
  6.
  7. Q: Is it faster?
  8. A: Definitely not. Some instapass setups become more awkward/too slow or no longer possible without rampages, and the biggest change is that Trial by Dirt can't be duped over and over to rapidly complete Vigilante and Taxi Driver, since that strat relies on rampages. Taxi Driver especially will spend far more time than is saved from the cut missions and lack of rampages.
  9.
  10. Q: Is it legit?
  11. A: Well, the official stance is that the definition of "100%" is everything that gives percentage on uncut versions of the game. Since you literally can't complete some items required for what is considered "100%" for leaderboard purposes, this wouldn't be permitted on the main leaderboard anyway.
  12.
  13. Q: So what's the point?
  14. A: Just wanted to see (and show) what it'd be like to do a 100% with current strats on the Green Pepper version. I've been interested in doing this for a while, and I finally found the time. I don't see the point in grinding this out, since semi-intended Taxi Driver sucks far more than even mass TbD duping, so it's likely a one-off thing.

  17. General FAQ
  18. Q: How did you teleport?
  19. A: You can pick up objects within replays. If you save one over a property purchase marker, you can buy things within a saved replay, and it'll place you at the property that you just purchased. As for save markers, they only work when you're in the same zone as the save marker that you made a replay over. For example, if you want to warp to Sunshine Autos via a save marker replay, you'd have to be considered by the game to be in Little Havana, otherwise you would not warp.
  20.
  21. Q: Why are you looking at the store owners?
  22. A: This is how you rob stores on the PC version with standard controls. Robbing all 15 robbable stores is a requirement for 100% completion.
  23.
  24. Q: Why did you shoot the store owners?
  25. A: This'll prevent him from setting off the alarm and giving two stars. In some instances, it doesn't matter though, so it's fine to just run away after getting the money.
  26.
  27. Q: Wait... why did the mission randomly pass?
  28. A: You will see these throughout the run, they are referred to as "instapasses". To attempt to put it simply, when one mission's script's offset is at a certain point that corresponds to about the mission-pass offset of another mission, then there's a chance that starting one mission, reaching that part of the script, then starting the second mission will instantly pass the second mission. Some of them are more complex than others.
  29.
  30. Q: What is that sliding thing?
  31. A: More replay fuckery. When you change movement animations and play a replay in quick succession, you'll begin sliding, which works during phone calls and is very useful for heavy weapon rampages, since you go a lot faster than the forced slow walking speed with those weapons.
  32.
  33. Q: strip klub
  34. A: Just wait.
  35.
  36. Q: armi bes
  37. A: Just wait.
