  53. Elora's background (written by sydney :)) and the text of our game so far:

  55. Elora was born in a secluded forest village of wood elves, where she learned to love nature and magic from a young age. She was fascinated by the stories of ancient heroes and legends, especially those who wielded arcane power and explored the mysteries of the world.

  57. She dreamed of becoming a great wizard herself someday, but her parents discouraged her from pursuing such a dangerous and unpredictable path. They wanted her to stay in the village and follow their traditions, like becoming a druid or a ranger.

  59. Elora respected her parents, but she also felt restless and curious about the world beyond the forest. She secretly studied magic from books and scrolls she found in the village library, hoping to learn enough to cast spells on her own.

  61. One day, she stumbled upon an old tome that contained a map of an ancient ruin hidden deep in the forest. The map claimed that the ruin was once a temple dedicated to Corellon Larethian, the god of magic and art among the elves.

  63. Elora felt a strong urge to explore the ruin and discover its secrets. She packed some supplies and sneaked out of the village at night, following the map’s directions.

  65. She found the ruin after several hours of walking through dense foliage and winding paths. It was a large stone structure covered in vines and moss, with faded carvings and statues depicting elven history and mythology.

  67. Elora entered the ruin with awe and excitement, eager to see what wonders awaited her inside.

  69. She soon realized that she was not alone in the ruin…
  70.  
  71. [Josh as DM] After leaving her home among the elves, and traveling through dense forest and winding trails, Elora finds herself standing in front of the lost ruin. A large set of stone steps descends into the ruins and she notices something odd. She notices that some of the leaves, twigs, and debris covering the steps have already been disturbed.

  73. [Elora] Elora feels a surge of curiosity and excitement as she approaches the lost ruin. She has always dreamed of exploring ancient places and uncovering their secrets. She wonders who or what has disturbed the steps and what lies beneath them. She decides to follow the trail of disturbance and cautiously descends into the ruin, keeping her senses alert for any danger or discovery.

  75. [Josh as DM] As she enters the ruins, the debris of leaves and twigs changes to debris of large rocks, small stones, and dirt. A lightly covered mossy floor gives way to a cobblestone floor with giant pillars on either side. Stone tables symmetrically line the room. The disturbance of the debris on the steps becomes visible footprints in the dirt and moss. Elora’s initial suspicion was correct that she is not alone in the ruin.

  77. [Elora] Elora feels a mix of fear and curiosity as she sees the footprints in the dirt and moss. She wonders who they belong to and what they are doing in the ruin. She also wonders what the stone tables and pillars are for and if they have any clues about the history of the place. She decides to follow the footprints further into the ruin, hoping to find out more. She also casts a minor illusion spell to create a small sound behind her, hoping to distract anyone who might be following her.

  79. [Josh as DM] Elora casts prestidigitation and creates the illusion of hushed whispers and footsteps at the entrance of the ruin. Anyone entering the ruin should hear the sound. Elora continues walking through the ruin. The pillars lining the edges of the room are aged and crumbling but sturdy. Looking at the tables as she passes, Elora notices Elven carvings and inscriptions celebrating achievements of Elven kind. At the front of the room, Elora notices an elevated platform where Elven elders and royalty would have sat. Elora hears a shuffling sound coming from this area and faint whispers not coming from her illusion.
  80. [Elora] Elora feels a sense of awe and reverence as she sees the Elven carvings and inscriptions. She recognizes some of them as stories and legends she learned from her Elven mentors. She feels a connection to her heritage and culture. She also feels a sense of curiosity and caution as she hears the shuffling sound and whispers coming from the platform. She wonders who or what is there and what they are doing. She decides to sneak closer to the platform, trying to stay hidden behind the pillars and tables. She also casts detect magic to see if there is any magical aura around the platform or the whispers.

  82. [Elora] Elora feels a surge of curiosity and relief as she detects the magic and sees the figure. She wonders who it is and why they are in the ruin. She also wonders if they are friendly or not. She decides to reveal herself and try to communicate with the figure. She steps out from behind the pillar and says in a calm and respectful voice: “Hello, I mean you no harm. I’m Elora, an Elven wizard. Who are you and what are you doing here?”

  84. [Josh as DM] Elora weaves silently and cautiously through and around the pillars and tables. As Elora reaches the final pillar on the right side of the room, she focuses and silently whispers an incantation. In addition to feeling the powerful innate energy contained within the ruin, Elora also detects the energy of a life form and a faint aura begins to glow around the source of the magic. There is a medium sized figure at the front of the room. The figure does not appear hostile or dangerous.

  86. [Josh as DM] The figure stands upright and Elora can clearly make out the face. She sees a Human female fighter looking at her with awe, amazement, and wonder.
  87. [The human] *stares in amazement, seeming quite nervous and very excited* An elf! A real live elf! Wow! Um…um…Hi! Isn’t this place awesome? So much heritage! When I heard about it, I just had to see it for myself! I’m Lena, by the way. *Lena extends her hand to you*

  89. [Elora] Elora feels a surge of surprise and confusion as she sees the human female fighter. She wonders why she is so excited and nervous to see an elf. She also wonders how she heard about the ruin and what she knows about it. She decides to be polite and friendly to the human, but also cautious and curious. She takes Lena's hand and shakes it gently. "Hello, Lena. It's nice to meet you. Yes, this place is awesome indeed. It's a temple dedicated to Corellon Larethian, the god of magic and art among the elves. How did you hear about it? And what are you doing here?"

  91. [Lena] *her excitement slowly overtaking her nervousness* It's beyond a pleasure to meet you, Elora! I mean...I mean...you're an ELF!" *a look of complete admiration starts to show on her face, with a tinge of embarrassment* I'm a fighter yes, but a scholar too. Well...an amateur one, I guess. But...but... I know all about Corellan Larethian! What a wonderful god, worthy of all glory and honor! Did you know He's god of not only magic but warfare too? Of...of course you knew that. I'm sorry. I..." *looks down* I must sound awfully silly. I'm sorry…

  93. [Elora] Elora feels a surge of amusement and curiosity as she sees Lena's excitement and admiration. She wonders why she is so fascinated by elves and Corellon Larethian. She also wonders what she knows about them and how she learned it. She decides to be kind and encouraging to Lena, but also curious and inquisitive. She smiles warmly at Lena and says: "You don't sound silly at all, Lena. You sound very passionate and knowledgeable. I'm impressed that you know so much about Corellon Larethian. He is indeed a wonderful god, worthy of all glory and honor. How did you learn about him? And why are you so interested in elves?"

  95. [Lena] *looks down, still slightly embarrassed] I know I'm human...but I don't think I ever felt right around humans, you know? Elves are so...so...graceful and majestic! I know I couldn't be an elf of course, but...maybe if I learn more about elvish culture, I could fit in at least a little? *smiles and looks up, still slighly blushing, feeling more at ease* Thank you, Elora. You're very kind. I don't suppose you'd be open to exploring this place together?

  97. [Elora] Elora feels a surge of sympathy and admiration as she hears Lena's story. She wonders how she feels about being human and why she doesn't fit in with them. She also wonders what she hopes to find in this place and how she plans to explore it. She decides to be supportive and friendly to Lena, but also careful and prudent. She nods at Lena and says: "I understand, Lena. You have a brave and curious spirit. I respect that. I'm open to exploring this place together, but we should be careful. There might be dangers or traps in the ruin. Do you have any weapons or spells to defend yourself?"

  99. [Lena] *smiles broadly, her embarrassment lifting, as she shows off her longsword* Never got the hang of spellcasting...but I came prepared. laughs slightly
  100.  
  101. [Josh as DM] As Elora and Lena are speaking and getting acquainted, they hear a fluttering of wings somewhere above them. They can sense something moving above them back and forth and then it stops.

  103. [Lena] *startled and a bit scared* Elora...did you hear that? *grips the hilt of her longsword tighter and moves into what looks like a fighting stance*
