  27. Rolands cells can absorb solar energy and temporarily store it in an advanced form of photosynthesis. The cells produce specialized proteins that increase his agility, strength, and durability. Around half an hour without sunlight will leave him powerless until he can get more, regardless of his usage. This happens because he can only store the energy for 30 minutes. While more sunlight increases his power, he can modulate the output.

  29. Armor
  30. Gawain's costume is a modern power suit fashioned as high medieval knightly armor. The armor was designed by his brother Quincy, a former support student. The metal is shiny green with gold that shines brightly in direct sunlight. While the main purpose is protection, it has gadgets to increase its utility.

  33. Internal solar lights
  34. Small solar panels on the armor fuel an internal light that shines over the users body. For Roland this can boost his normal quirk while he is already in the sunlight or store enough to fight in the darkness. There is a finite amount that can be stored and a prolonged fight in darkness will leave him powerless.

  36. Gadget 2
  37. Grappel shot
  38. A grapple hook that shoots out if his gauntlet. Its range is only 15 meters, and while it can retract on its own, it cannot pull much on its own.

  40. Gadget 3
  41. Spring Sabatons
  42. When activated the boots of the armor use small highly compressed springs to add a great lift to his jump. Without additional power, someone wearing the armor could add at least 3 meters to their jump.

  44. Weapon
  45. The blade itself is not much of note, besides that it has a noticeable breakhalfway up. The sheath and the handle are the important part of the weapon. The sheath can take the top piece off to create a shorter blade, as well as dull or sharpen it. It is controled by the handle by twisting the hilt while the sword is sheathed.

  47. Family history
  48. The Rivers family has long claimed its blood goes back to a noble knight house from Camelot. While the claim is very much disputed, there is truth that they came from a somewhat wealthy family of low During the reign british empire, the Rivers family found themselves relocated to the east, where they manged some of the east india company for the crown. Eventually when colonization came to an end, the family lost most of its income, leading them to move to the economic powerhouse at the time Japan. There they used the last of their wealth to buy real estate when the bubble popped. Arranged marriages were common for core members, usually someone of noble decent from europe. The family was in a relatively good state when quirks began to appear. Eventually some were born with their own quirks, and those that had strong quirks become heros. To distinguish themselves from their native couterparts they fashioned themselves in modern armor to look like knights of legend. A tradition was born of the father "knighting" the son, and giving him his hero name, usually named for a knight of the round table.

  50. Background
  51. Roland lived most of his life in his family's wealthy estate near Fukuoka. He was the second son of the hero Bedivere, who had reached the 6th spot of top heros when he was in his prime. The best teachers and trainers money could buy had educated Roland and his brother Quincy. Quincy was fonder of academics while Roland favored exercise and combat training. Years of the best however let Roland grow spoiled and over confident. His father, whom he was close to when he was around, was always busy. Too busy to notice his failings as a father. It wasn't until Roland's freshman year at Shiketsu that his father fully noticed. Seeing his son underestimate and fall behind his classmates angered him, but seeing Roland embarrass himself at the sports festival enraged him. Bedivere refused to impart a family hero name upon his second son until he greatly improved. He also cut Roland off from the family's great wealth, leaving him with a meager amount of money to live on. The first month he foolishly spent almost all his money on an apartment he couldnt afford. Hidden fees in the fine print stole the rest of his money, and he couldn't pay the next month leaving him with nothing. The only food he could obtain was the lunch from school, the only shower was the gym's, the only place to sleep was a school storage room (only when he wasn't caught). So when he was threatened with expulsion he turned to his only lifeline left, his older brother, the golden child. Quincy was taking a year off after school to prepare his support startup, making as many unique gadgets as he could. But when his brother came begging for help, he quickly obliged. Quincy hired his brother on to work at nights for him, running errands for tenats in the nearby buildings he owned. It was oftentimes hard work, sometimes easy, but always humbling. Some days he would be moving a refrigerator, some days he would just be sent to have tea with an old lady. The smile and appreciation Roland got from helping became what he looked forward to most. With a new sense of love for helping people, his schoolwork and training improved. As Quincy saw improvement, he would scale back the workload he would give his brother to give him more time for training and studying. Roland improved greatly over the rest of his freshman year, but his father still would not speak to him. It was not until his sophomore year did Roland see his father. Sitting first row at the sports festival. Emboldened by the chance to redeem himself, Roland gave the festival everything he had, taking second. After the festival, Bedivere invited Roland home for dinner. After seeing his improvements as a person, he allowed his son live at home again gave him access to the family wealth. Roland thanked his father but insisted he move into a moderate apartment in one of the buildings he used to work in. Bedivere accepted and gave his son a parting gift, the hero name Galahad, the knight who was exiled from court and redeemed himself by finding the holy grail. Roland, now "knighted" by his father, dove back into his schoolwork, gaining his provisional licence later that year.
