- == Resource Packs ==
- A Resource Pack is very similar to a Texture Pack, but also contains sounds, music, language files, end credits, splashes, and fonts. It is used in Minecraft 1.6 and newer, and is not compatible with earlier versions. For 1.5 and older you must use Texture Packs.
- === Creating Resource Packs ===
- Creating resource packs is much more difficult than creating texture packs, because in texture packs, all you need is terrain.png, whereas in resource packs, you need to create pack.mcmeta, pack.png, an entire folder called assets, and icons for each individual thing.
- However, there are many more possibilities to resource packs than there are to texture packs.
- === Installing Texture Packs ===
- # Download 'Resource-Pack.zip'.
- # (WINDOWS) Hit Windows Key + R and type in %appdata%\.minecraft (OS X) Shift + Command + G and type in ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft (LINUX) It is in your home directory (hidden by default) OR Open Minecraft, Click on Options > Resource Packs > Open resource pack folder > Copy file there (SKIP TO 5)
- # Go to resourcepacks, and copy file there.
- # Open Minecraft
- # Click on Options > Resource Packs > Hover over the pack, and then click on the arrow.
- # Play Minecraft like normal.
