The entry to Elisheba's domain is guarded by two statues known as Hagar and Rafa. They are perfectly rendered in the form of guardian dragons. At the foot of the right statue is a line of script reading [i]The Lord of the Rising Moon[/i] in no known language of dragonkind. You see, the Lord is no dragon at all.

He once traveled the world in a variety of forms, in endless of forms, moving from statue to mosaic to relief to statue again. Ceaseless. He loved the Hewn City best -- it was not yet Hewn, then -- for the bounty of forms it gave him. When the Shade came, he took its form as well -- its many, many forms -- and he reveled in it. For this he was cast from the now-Hewn City, and wandered formless for many thousands of years.

It was Elisheba who gave him a new form to inhabit: only one, but it was lovingly rendered as though alive, and Rafa was pleased. Elisheba promised more forms, when the Hewn City became Her City, and Rafa was content to serve her in a single form until then.

Rafa does not move, though visitors will swear he certainly looks as though he [i]could.[/i] He moves only when no one can see him, and only to defend the clan from intruders. Like his mate, Hagar, Rafa needs only a moment of distraction to pounce. Intruders swiftly learn that there is no place they can run to escape the Lord's claws.
