  1. ======== 180 Emblems LOTAD ========
  2. The TASing I am doing is on a completely new save file, and the goal in mind is to reach 180 Emblems. This is a hopefully-short pastebin to explain what I'm doing, how I'm going to tackle this, and what needs to be done.
  3.
  4. Note: at this point of time (half a minute into City Escape M1), I am a new TASer for this game. I have never actually TASed this game before, aside from a couple bad TASes. Because of this, I will call this a LOTAD.
  5. "LOTAD" stands for "Low-Optimization Tool-Assisted Demonstration", which is what this basically is.
  6.
  7. You will see that I will eventually improve over time. I am starting with Hero Story as Dark Story is much more complicated to begin with (wallrunning in Iron Gate, Sand Ocean being a pain in the ass, etc), unlike Hero Story where I have more room for improvement to make Dark better than if I were to start with Dark. I want to try and include as many tricks as possible.

  10. === EMBLEMS ===
  11. In this game, there are 180 Emblems (duh). The Emblems we will need to collect are:
  12. - All story Emblems (3 Emblems)
  13. - All mission Emblems (155 Emblems (31 stages and 5 missions for each stage)
  14. - All A Ranks (7 Emblems (All characters + Cannon's Core)
  15. - All Kart Racing Emblems (3 Emblems)
  16. - All boss attacks Emblems (3 Emblems (Hero, Dark and All)
  17. - All Chao Emblems (9 Emblems (5 racing, 4 karate)
  18.
  19. - The Story Emblems are simple. Simply beat all stories.
  20.
  21. - The Mission Emblems are interesting. There are 5 missions:
  22. - Mission 1: Reach the end of the level.
  23. - Mission 2: Collect 100 rings.
  24. - Mission 3: Find the Lost Chao. (Don't hit other cars in Route 101 & Route 280)
  25. - Mission 4: Reach the end of the level in the alotted time limit. (Don't hit the wall in Route 101 & Route 280)
  26. - Mission 5: Hard Mode.
  27. - The goal here is to beat all missions while collecting all the A Ranks. Missions 1, 4 and 5 are score based, while missions 2 and 3 are time based. (Kart stages always time based) So for the score based A Ranks, we need to find the most optimal route through the stage while collecting enough points to get an A Rank. For time based A Ranks, we simply need to go fast.
  28. - There are some A Ranks that have a low requirement, which allows us to simply do it as quick as possible.
  29. - One such example is Sky Rail M5. The score requirement here is 10,000, and it is possible to beat the stage in under one minute. The score bonus for all times below one minute is exactly 10,000, making this particular level pure time based in a TAS. We don't have that kind of luxury for many levels however.
  30. - Hunting stages are also score based, however if you simply go as fast as possible it is extremely easy to get all the A Ranks here. So there's little routing evolved here, next to finding the best Emerald Layout.
  31.
  32. - Kart Racing and Boss Attack are simple.
  33.
  34. - Chao Emblems will require a lot of planning, and a /fuck/ ton of RNG manipulation.
  35. - RNG Manipulations needed includes:
  36. - Starting Chao
  37. - The feeding habits of the Chao we will evolve
  38. - The races
  39. - Will the chao trip? Does he shake the tree for too long? Does he get bad luck with the Pandora's box? Will he fall into the whole near the end?
  40. - Karate
  41. - Will he kick as soon as possible?
  42.

  44. === More Info ===
  45.
  46. This is a short explanation of what we need to do. Talon2461 (the RTA World Record holder) has a bunch of pastebins himself surrounding this.
  47. https://pastebin.com/LsgFH74B <- Chao Strategy that we will more or less follow.
  48. https://pastebin.com/0FDks5S2 <- More info on (Talon's) 180 Emblems speedruns.
  49. - ESG is useless for us, as we softreset anyway.
  50. https://pastebin.com/zKW9nvUj <- Route, point requirements, etc. This has a lot of oddities, though. Also, Wild Canyon M1 is missing. Point requirement for that is 14k points.
