- “Salvation”
- I am cold, but not in winter,
- I am pained, but not from fist,
- Slowly, I pull out the splinter,
- Watching this decay desist.
- Family is all around me,
- None of them can see a thing,
- As I tear this darkness out of me,
- I grin at them, and bear the sting.
- “Home”
- Maybe you will break my heart, and maybe you won’t.
- Incandescent, effulgent, you are uncertain, evanescent and fleeting.
- One thing is for sure.
- Your heart is kind,
- Beautiful, like a cherry blossom,
- Open it up, and you will be mine.
- Sitting by the fire together,
- Sipping wine, becoming cozy,
- You make me feel the way I do
- When reading a superb novel,
- My heart, cleansing itself.
- I hold you in my arms,
- Kissing your lips
- Your neck,
- Your soul.
- We are naive,
- As only those in love can be,
- And I cherish every moment.
- But,
- I haven’t met you yet.
- “The Maggot Who Fought Back”
- Throughout my whole life,
- I never quite belonged,
- In peace or in strife,
- I always felt wrong.
- Now at age twenty-eight,
- I realize that I matter,
- The heart lessens its ache,
- And my hatred shatters.
- I am free to go now, wherever I want,
- I cannot be stolen,
- Nor bullied,
- Nor bought.
- I live my life with equal measure,
- Self-love comes with any endeavor.
- One last anthem I know to be true,
- I am finally me for the first time, too.
