- 7. "Do the Math"
- - Each crafted item sells for 5 gold
- - Each craft creates 4 items (if you have Brewer 3 & Chef 3)
- - 4 items x 5 gold = 20 gold
- - Ingredient 1 cost < 10 gold
- - Ingredient 2 cost < 10 gold
- - Profit = 20 gold - Ingredient 1 cost - Ingredient 2 cost
- - Note the slim profit margin requires cooking THOUSANDS of servings!
- * This is why I place merchant near cooking fire (cook, max inventory, sell, repeat)
- 8. Tips
- - Keep 100 minimum of each ingredient in stock at all times for daily writs
- - Know your craft
- - Metheglin pairs with "borb" (barley or bittergreen)
- - Fish pairs with "gorm" (garlic or millet)
- - Saltrice pairs with "pora" (pumpkin or apple)
- - Honey pairs with "yorg" (yeast or guarana)
- - Lemon pairs with "cocoja" (coffee, comberry, or jasmine)
- - Avoid lopsided stock!
- - Each max profit recipe has a pair of ingredients
- - If you spend all of your gold on apples, but have no saltrice...
- - you'll be broke (no gold left to shop with)
- - and your unpaired ingredient will sit unused in craft bag
- - Track inventory
- - Craft bag totals
- - Optional physical journal (I kept one when starting out, complete with horker & beer stamps)
- - Optional spreadsheet (I prefer Google Sheets in Drive)
- - Optional addon
- - Urich's Craftbag Viewer: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1648-UrichsCraftbagViewer.html
- - Identify your largest surplus ingredient in craft bag
- - the pairing needed to cook becomes your "driver" for next shopping session
- - this focuses effort & maximizes profit, especially when getting started with low mats / gold
- - optional: look up "driver" on TTC to determine shopping route
- - if you can afford it, buy other good deals as you shop for the "driver"
- - Shop responsibly
- - Only buy ingredients for less than 10 unit cost! (garlic or millet < 13 if fish cheap)
- - If lopsided surplus has sat unused for awhile, ok to spend slightly more on pairing to move product
- - Once your business grows, keep a reserve of gold and ingredients in stock
- - Markets fluctuate
- - Ingredients are seasonal, sometimes unpredictably (that reserve helps weather "lopsided" storms)
- - Markets need time to "recover" (sellers gather bulk mats, list for sale)
- - Be aware of price spikes, addons not working immediately after game updates, etc
- - Watch out for similar ingredient names (one day I bought thousands of ginseng instead of ginger!)
- - Furnishing a home as a tavern is optional, but I found it helps me to center my game activities
