My heart of hearts said it worked similar to the first boss where dot ticks won't proc it except on application, which looks correct:

it doesn't actually even look like dot applications proc it, or there's an internal CD between procs of it. The only spell that appears to have procced the damage was lunar strike hitting it, and the solar wrath/moonfire/sunfire ticks (and initial application) all don't seem to.

you're supposed to click the buttons on the person bar
and it'll whisper them what color you click to tell them what they need to press
then another weak aura takes those whispers and makes them into icons on your screen that show you what you're supposed to press

they as a raid team decided against using any WAs since its day 1 and they never work day 1 but cist had it i assume to just check it out. but it doesnt work unless everyone has it so it looks broken. thats why they just went with calling it out and why it looks broken
