  1. Hello, today we'll be helping you set up your ventures with cryptocurrency. It's not an easy task, which is why we are taking the time to type this guide for those who need it. We'll be showing you how to buy bitcoin, what you can do with it, and how to transfer it in and out of places.
  2.
  3. Step one. Create an account on http://www.coinbase.com/ This is the most popular exchange to buy the following on; bitcoin, ethereum, and litecoin. The reason it's so popular is because it's both easy and simple to navigate. Registration is pretty straightforward- just input the information they are asking for and make sure it's 100% accurate.
  4.
  5. Step two. You'll have to verify your bank or credit card before you're allowed to purchase coins. Both are quite easy to do and for the most part, you can do this step on your own. Bear in mind that purchases made by credit/debit card are instant, whereas bank purchases can take up to a week before you receive your bitcoin.
  6.
  7. Step three. Once you've verified your payment information, you can now buy some cryptocurrency! Simply hit the buy button at the top of the coinbase website and buy one of the three currencies. If you are investing in altcoins (which is what most of us here are doing) you'll want to buy bitcoin, or ethereum. The reason for this is because you buy altcoins with bitcoin and/or ethereum.
  8.
  9. Step four. Input the amount of money you want to spend on whatever currency you are buying. If you plan to buy altcoins, you'll have to transfer your bitcoin or ethereum to a different exchange that has the altcoin. Don't know how to do this? Check out our guide on how to transfer your currency on coinbase to other exchanges!
  10.
  11. OPTIONAL STEP: Enable 2FA authentication by going into your account settings. Also, verify your phone if you haven't already. Obviously I can't make all of you do this, but I strongly suggest it as the world of crypto has many, many hackers and phishing methods that can fuck you over if you don't keep your stuff safe.
