  1. I've looked at the games I've been running over the years, and there's absolutely no overarching theme. For the most part, they've been execution-based, with some elements of RNG in them, some way more than others (Vice City). That makes it a lot harder to find new games. Can't just be like the Zelda runners, for instance, and jump from OoT to TP and then to TWW as a main project.
  2.
  3. I guess what I look most for in a speedgame is (in order of importance):
  4.
  5. (1) Whether the game means something special to me, either because it's a childhood favourite (Master System Sonics) or because it's just a brilliantly designed game that caught my interest (Amnesia, Monster Hunter).
  6.
  7. (2) Whether the speedrun itself is clever in any way or whether it could be clever: Age of Empires has some maps that are brilliant, but others are just RNG-fests, so it's a decent speedgame only. Medal of Honor Frontline is one of my all time favourite games, but it's a walking simulator - nothing clever. Fable 3 is a long and actionless run, but it's got a few clever parts that made it fun anyway;
  8.
  9. (3) How hard a run is. I like a challenge execution-wise, and don't really want a trivial run (e.g., Dark Souls where you OHK every boss). Doesn't have to be a mess with frame perfect tricks everywhere, but I do enjoy having to pay close attention to my game without doing it all on auto-pilot.
  10.
  11. (4) Whether the game's been fully routed or not (which typically isn't a plus). I like routing my own games, though for some games it's just such a mess to do it properly (e.g., GTA3 100%, which I still definitely want to run). Experimenting and thinking outside the box is what makes speedrunning fun in the first place, imo.;
  12.
  13. (5) Whether the run is largely about RNG or not. RNG can spice up a run, but it's often not too much fun to deal with runs dying due to just bad luck (looking at GTA again);
  14.
  15. (6) How long the run is. I love doing long runs, but they're just not practical. If I could, I'd be doing GTA3 100%, PSO All Missions, PSO 100% and all that kind of stuff all the time, but I just can't.
