Ayumi is a bit of a contradiction. While she is very shy and timid when you first meet her, she is very outgoing and talkative when you get to know her. She has a big heart and tries to take care of everyone, but sometimes neglects herself. She loves adventures and is naturally curious about everything. She does have a mean, stubborn-streak that flares up time to time, especially when she is told that she cannot do something (not law/rule wise). Since she has been the oldest of her friends outside of the idol world, she is very nurturing and motherly towards others. Not many people realize this, but she is a very withdrawn person and has a hard time trusting others.

-   She spent her summers in Virginia Beach with her grandfather who was in the US Navy. This inspired her to want to join when she was of age, but was denied due to a previous knee injury, therefore failing the physical.
-   She grew up in the middle of nowhere on a farm, where people of the community hunted and fished on the weekends. She learned basic survival skills through them.
-   Her first two languages are English and Japanese, though she self-taught herself Chinese, Korean, and French.
-   Though she is fluent in speaking Chinese, she cannot read it unless it is in pinyin.
-   She knows American Sign Language
-   She loves climbing, but is terrified of heights. People joke with her saying that she is like a cat who willingly climbs a tree, but gets stuck because they are too scared to come down.
-   Has really bad allergies which triggers her asthma at times.
-   She has very bad eyesight.
-   People compare her brain as a sponge because she learns so quickly.
-   Has a fierce passion of spreading awareness of self-mutilation and depression since she spent her younger years fighting it.
-   She is very easily manipulated into doing things she doesn’t like, such as working out, if she is told that it was something else, like dancing
-   She cannot go anywhere without her iPod
-   She has a infinity symbol on the inner side of her left wrist that says “Defeat is not an option”
-   She has taught herself how to play the piano and guitar, but cannot read music
-   Had auditioned at YG and was turned down. She also auditioned at SM, but due to a slight mix up, she was wrongfully turned down. When she auditioned at Loen, she was accepted and SM called, but she declined due to feeling like Loen was her best option

As a trainee, Ayumi always worked hard and would always seek council from her seniors. She shied away from other trainees and always spent time in the practice room. While she shied away from others, she was always there to help another trainee if they needed help
