- Hey Everyone, and welcome to another XIM Tutorial.
- First off I would like to say that I’m aware of that Ubisoft plans to change the look mechanic of Rainbow Six Siege during the second Season of 2019. It was around last week or so when they announced that in a blogpost. Here you can see it. We don’t know much about it yet but If those changes have a major impact on this tutorial I will of course upload a new config tutorial with updated settings. I actually hope that we see some big changes because Rainbow Six Sieges look mechanic isn’t actually that good. So some improvements would be more than welcome in my opinion.
- But back to the actual video.
- So today I want to show you my updated Rainbow Six Siege config for ZIM Apex, but don’t worry XIM4 users, it will also work with a XIM4. There are actually only one or two things that are different with the XIM4 and I will address those later in the video. Overall A lot has changed since my last config guide for this game and a new one was more than overdue. And of course, I will go over all of the new XIM features in the following video as well and tell you if they are worth it for Rainbow Six Siege or not.
- Another change compared to all my previous config tutorial videos is that I will now directly show you my config settings in the video and will not adjust everything from the scratch as usual. That should help to cut down the length of the video, I mean no one wants to watch 20 minute tutorials, lets be honest! But definitely let me know what you think about that change in the comments down below.
- So about the structure of this video. First I will go over the necessary preparation steps that are required for this config. After that ill show you what in my opinion are the best HIP and ADS config settings for Rainbow Six Siege right now. In the last part I will go over two tricks that you can use to get an advantage in the game. The first one will allow you to adjusting your walking speed, and the second one is about a trick with which you can lean faster in the game.
- But let’s start with the first topic, the necessary preparation steps.
- Head into the global settings in the top right of your XIM Manager. There you can find the “Force Games Download” button. Click it so your XIM will download the latest game profiles. That way you can ensure that our Rainbow Six Siege config will be up to date. My internet speed isn’t that fast so for you the update process might be faster.
- Once the download is done you should enable the expert mode, in case you haven’t done that already. Without that you will not have the required XIM features that you will need for this tutorial.
- The next step is to adjust your XIM polling rate. I will go with 500 hertz because my mouse doesn’t run so well on 1000hz. Rainbow Six Siege doesn’t have any aim assist, so your number one goal should be to achieve the highest possible mouse accuracy that you can get with your XIM and Mouse settings. Now the thing is that not every mouse can send a constant 1000hz signal. And if you run 1000hz with such a mouse then this will reduce your mouse accuracy. In my Polling Rate tutorial you can find 3 different benchmarks to find out what polling rate works best with your mouse. Those tests only take around 1 to 2 minutes and I would definitely recommend you to do one of them. If your mouse runs well on 1000hz then you can of course also use that polling rate. Just make sure that your XIM and mouse polling rate are always the same.
- Once you have adjusted your ZIM Polling rate you can hit the save button in the bottom right. After that leave this menu and restart your ZIM Apex so your polling rate changes will become active. For that you just unplug and replug your XIM from the console. For the XIM4 users, the XIM4 runs on a locked 125hz polling rate so you don’t have to change anything at all.
- The last step is about the correct ingame settings.
- Click on the wrench button in the bottom right of the Rainbow Six Siege logo in your XIM Manager. After that press the yes button and you should be forwarded to the XIM forum. There you can find the ingame settings that your XIM needs to give you the best mouse movements. Don’t use any other settings or else the quality of your mouse movements will suffer. So start your game now and adjust its settings. After that you can continue with the following topic.
- The next topic is about the HIP and ADS config.
- Click on the edit button in the top left to start the configuration mode of your Rainbow Six Siege XIM profile.
- In the first screen you can adjust the configuration light and the hotkey button. As you can see I use a yellow colour and my hotkey is the F1 key. That allows me to do the following: whenever I press the F1 key on my keyboard the XIM will load my Rainbow Six Siege config and will also show a yellow LED light.
- Now let’s swipe to the right in your Rainbow Six ZIM configuration to enter the HIP menu.
- The first thing you should do here is to adjust your synchronization settings. You can find those under the HIP sensitivity when you click the advanced options button.
- As you can see ill use synchronization default for Rainbow Six Siege. In my opinion default and common work the best in this game. Default is ideal if you are a slow sensitivity player, common is better if you play with a mid to high sensitivity. I wouldn’t recommend to play with off or slow. Off will create some mouse stutter which can drop your mouse accuracy on long range shots. Slow on the other hand doesn’t feel responsive enough in Rainbow Six Siege.
- Once you have adjusted your synchronization value, you can continue by adjusting your XIM sensitivity. I use 28 with a mouse dpi value of 3200. Make sure to not use too much dpi as that usually causes mouse stutter on most mousepads. For Rainbow Six Siege you should look into any source that can cause mouse sutter, therefore if you are unsure what dpi value will work best for your setup then you can watch my xim mouse dpi tutorial.
- As for your mouse sensitivity, I can only recommend you to spend some extra minutes to dial in your mouse sensitivity. Trust me, you will benefit from that in the long run. The lack of aim assist in rainbow six siege makes this kind of mandatory. On my youtube channel you can find a video with a method that pro players use to find their sensitivity, so if you are unsure what works best for you then id recommend you to use that guide.
- Now about the Boost and Steady Aim feature, neither of the two are really helpful for Rainbow Six Siege. Their main purpose is to change how the aim assist works with your mouse and since Rainbow Six Siege doesn’t have any aim assist its best to just keep those untouched. The same applies to Simulate Analog Behavior. However I recommend you to set this value to 1 in your HIP configuration. The reason is that with the most recent beta firmware SAB 0 has a stronger effect than a SAB value of 1. I have explained that in my latest beta firmware discussion video if you want to know more about that. Either way go with a value of 1 to have the most precise keyboard movements. The XIM4 doesn’t have this feature which means that SAB is already turned off. So you don’t need to change anything.
- After that you can customize your button bindings. You can either copy my button layout that you can see right now or you go with your own one. Just make sure that you use buttons that you can click comfortably while moving around with your character in the game. The last thing you want to do is to bind time critical actions to buttons that require you to let go of one of the WASD keys. At the very bottom of your button bindings you can find the option to switch to the secondary button bindings. Here you can bind every controller action a second time. I used this to bind the lean buttons to Q and E . You probably noticed that in my primary bindings I bound the melee action to the E key on my keboard. With that key I can lean to the right. Now in my secondary bindings I bound the Sprint action to Q so that I can lean to the left as well. That way I can lean to the left and right by pressing Q and E. I will also double bind the ping action. In my primary bindings I bound the ping action to the key 1, in my secondary bindings I uses the key 3 for it. That way I can mark a position in the game with the keyboard key 1, and 3 while walking into any direction as well
- Once your button bindings are complete you swipe to the right in your HIP menu to enter the ADS configuration.
- Again the first thing you should do here is to change your synchronization setting. I usually use the same synchronization for Hip and ADS to have the same mouse feeling. After that you can adjust your Aim Down Sights sensitivity. My preferred XIM Aim Down Sights mouse sensitivity for Rainbow Six Siege is 21. Just like before, if you prefer to use a higher or lower value then this is absolutely fine. Just make sure that you use a sensitivity with which you have a really good aim. The last thing you should do is to set the SAB value to 1. For that you untick the inherit box at the very top. Then you can find the Simulate Analog Behavior in your ADS config.
- The general Rainbow Six Siege config is now complete. In the last few minutes I want to show you two tricks though which honestly are very very helpful.
- The first one is about a customizeable walking speed. In my last Rainbow Six Siege config tutorial I showed you how to configure your walking speed via the ingame settings. With the new XIM Beta firmware this is no longer necessary. Just swipe back into your HIP configuration. In the advanced settings of your movement options you can find the walk feature. Bind it to a button that you haven’t bound yet. Im using the Capslock key for this. Below you can find the walking speed percentage. I will go with 70%. If you want to walk faster or slower then just use a higher or lower value. Your walking speed percentage has quite an influence on your gameplay, so pick a value that suits your playstyle the most. 70 is pretty good for aggressive HIP players. For the ADS config I will use a lower value. The reason is that when im in the Aim Down Sights mode I usually use the walking button to adjust the amount with which I am peeking around a corner. So a a lower value like 55 is better. That way you have more accuracy over your characters leaning position and how much of your body the enemy can actually see.
- The second trick is about a faster leaning system. If you use the E and Q key to lean like me, then you will know that you for example you cannot walk to the left while switching your leaning position to the left as well. Its just not possible because both keys are pressed with the same finger. However there’s a trick with which you will automatically lean left or right while you are moving. This is great for when you have to make a fast push for example. For that we will use a new sub configuration. So swipe a few times to the right until you access a new auxiliary config. Click on the enable button to activate it. I already created this config and I will now show you what adjustments you have to do to realize this trick. First untick the inherit button at the very top. After that bind an activation key. Use a button that you can comfortably press down while you are walking. It should be a key that you haven’t bound to any action yet. For me the left alt key is ideal for this. In the advanced settings under the activation key you should set the delay to 45 milliseconds. This is necessary or else you can run into some problems. After that set the sensitivity of this sub config to the very same one that you use in your Aim Down Sights configuration. The same applies to the advanced settings right below. Use the same synchronization as in your ADS config. At the bottom you should switch the translator from HIP to ADS. This is a very important step as otherwise your mouse movements will be off. In the advanced movement settings you should set the walking feature and the simulate analog behavior to the same values that you used in your ADS config. Don’t forget to also bind your walking key again. The last step comes now. Scroll down to the button bindings and change the Melee action to the D key. This will make sure that when you move your character to the right you will also lean to the right. After that switch to the secondary bindings at the very bottom. There you should now change the sprint action to the A key on your keyboard. Just like before that will allow you to instantly lean left when you start to move to the left. That was actually all you had to do. Here you can see a short clip from a local game where I am using this sub configuration. While I am holding down my activation button, in my case left alt, I can walk left to right and each time my character will automatically lean to the correct side. Of course you shouldn’t use that all the time, but for example when you are peeking into a room and you want to gain more information about potential enemies in it without getting shot, then you can make very fast sidestep leanings with this configuration to safely enter the room. Alternatively you can also use this trick when the time is running out and you have to make a very fast push.
- Once you have done this, you can hit the save button in the top left. After that your Rainbow Six Siege ZIM game configuration is now complete. As always, you can find the copy and paste code for the whole Rainbow Six Siege configuration in the video description down below.
