  1. The Corporate Cult.
  2. After the fall, the absence of Mr. Light was a devastating blow to the psyche of Aduro Industries (even on top the whole end of the world and all). The loss of the light that led them, the world being thrown into darkness, the flame of hope burned low. But it was not extinguished. Other factions wished to seek a new source of light in a dark world. Apparently, some found it through the gods of energy. In time ideas became superstition, superstition into tradition, and to some, tradition into religion and faith.
  3.
  4. For us it's simply formality of culture to respect these new gods, but for one or a few remnants that is entirely different. The Saal of the Mueke jungles are the most zealous of the new faith to the gods of energy. These are not the gods that Mr. Light believes inspired him, but the Saal believe they are. Slowly, veneration of Mr. Light gave way to worship of these gods. In the begging Mr. Light was praised as the incarnate of the gods will, then simply as their prophet, soon mere herald, until finally he was completely ignored in their worship.
  5.
  6. The "Gods" of Light
  7. Zil - The sun god. Venerated as a god of heat, light, fire, and radiation. Reported to appear as the body of a man, but the head of a tiger. He is given the power to scorch men and the earth itself.
  8. Shoktash - The goddess of electrical energy, sound, magnetism, and the power of information. Appears as a great winged being, with the head of an eagle, wreathed in lighting and electricity. Is said to be able to shoot lighting "in the shape of scorpions"
  9. Volgarth - The god of chemical, biochemical energy, and radiation. A cloaked, shadowy figure, where he walks a vapour of death follows. Even ghouls, whose very essence is tied to radiation, are purported to mysteriously die, perhaps from an entirely different form of radiation unknown to us.
  10. Thudd - The god of kinetic energy and gravity. A hulking juggernaut reported to look like a great gorrilla. It is rumored that when he begins to run, he cannot be stopped, and if he chooses to stop he cannot be moved.
  11. Chrysopoeia - The god of wealth, and the energy of the mind and that which drives men. His domain is in gold, jewels, precious minerals, beautiful women and all things of value. Reported to look like a very obese monkey or man, but incredibly pleasant. Few see him, though the treasure store of Saal are known to be legendary.
  12.
  13. Upon his return, Mr. Light is highly suspicious of these gods. "If these are indeed the gods of energy, I see no reason they would take a material form to interact with mortals."
  14.
  15. The Saal.
  16. The Saal are insanely religious. They're soldiers wear religious ornaments, capes, and outfits to battle (though we suspect this may be modified Aduro tech and merchandise). Their primary weapons are staffs and canes which shoot bolts of light and electricity. Unlike other Aduro remnants, they are headed not by minor a corporate officer but by an "energy priest", who themselves knowledgable workers of the energy arts. So fanatical were the Saal's devotion to the gods, that they erected temples and pyramids, aglow with light and energy, shimmering in the suns rays, but there are somber reports of sentient sacrifices. In the most recent times, there is a traveling rumors that the gods have appeared to the Saal. It should be noted that, while jungles, swamps, and areas rich with life are often saturated with monsters and other nasties, the Mueke jungles are strangely. . .quiet. Few who venture there ever return, even Aduro Industies representatives can vanish every now and then when they don't bother to ask for a Saal escort.
  17.
  18. The Saal believe themselves to be the "Children of the Sun", and indeed, records indicate they're facility also housed the solar research division, as well as one of the energy being research facilities. Finally, it should also be noted that the Mueke jungle exists in the same location of what used to be one of our most notable franchises. . .Carlson World.
  19.
  20. Mentis Industria
  21. The Pinnacle of Mr. Light's envisioning, Mentis Industria was his attempt to artificially replicate the hivemind just barely discovered before the time of the fall among certain biological variants and psionic experiments. However, one major difference is that, whereas other hiveminds are a conscious connection, Mentis Industria is almost entirely subconscious, having little to do with the individual ego and therefore, does not affect the individual.
  22.
  23. In its most reductionist view, Mr. Light calls it a "trinity", of people, energy, and a sentient "guiding light". Some have taken to basing an analgy it off the judeo-christian trinity.
  24. Father - Raw, natural generated energy.
  25. Son - The people. The will of the masses
  26. Holy Ghost - The "sentience" or "guiding light" that connects the father (raw energy) to the son (the will of the people) and vice versa.
  27.
  28. That is, energy is manufactured and drawn from the universe by the company. This is the power of the Mentis Industria. The people all collectively have subconscious will and information. Finally, the Guiding Light, a living benevolent sentience, gathers this
  29.
  30. Unlike other hiveminds whose power is based on the population of its members or how psionically active its members are, Mentis Industria's power has nothing to do with population. Whether it is 10 people or a millinon people, Mentis Industrias strength draws from actual generated energy. Instead, the will of population is heard by the the GL, which then directs the energy.
  31.
  32. One analogy is that of a man, a computer, and a generator. The subconscious will is the man typing keystrokes on the computer. The computer processes the keystrokes into information, and can both return information and control the generator. Even if the man succumbs to corruption, the computer is not corrupted and can authenticate and detect corruption based on the mans keystrokes or whatever other person tries to access it.
  33.
  34. Another analogy would be the example of the legendary She Who Hungers, a being of great power that even the terrible Memor feared her. One rumor purports her to be little more than the inherent hunger of zombies. Presuming this were the case, the raw power of hunger of the zombies isn't inherently dangerous, but if a being or beings were to manipulate it you would have a powerful force far greater than any natural hive-mind. In addition, whoever is in control of the hunger is incorruptible by the hunger that backs it, or, that it is not in the way of the hunger but directs it.
  35.
  36. Such is our case, but rather we have the industrial generating might of Aduro Industires, over the ravenous all powerful hunger of SWH, and where as SWH obeys a certain. . .psionic force we have the Guiding Light.
  37.
  38. The Guiding Light
  39. According to Mr. Light, the guiding light must take a sentient host, or rather, a sentient being must become the Guiding Light. " I cannot be this guding light. The Guiding Light must perform far more than even the overminds or powerful psionic leaders of other hiveminds. The Guiding Light must constantly filter, sift, and determine the will of the people through the thoughts of the Audro Industires, in addition to controlling the almight energy might of Aduro Industries, and balance control and interaction between the two. It cannot have any material body or presence to distract them, and even if it did such a material body would disintegrate under the power (perhaps even one such as I). I must remain here in the matterial plain to guide civilization into the light. But there is one I know of, one who has been my right hand and served us more than any other, one very dear to me."
  40.
  41. "When Mentis Industria is completed, She, will be the angel that guides us."
